SINCE 1937 HANDMADE BY ARTISANS 2

3 generations of passion

MR HIROTAKE ARAI

MR Michio ARAI

MR Akihito ARAI

Hirotake Arai started out in 1937 as a hat manufacturer before a decade later laying the foundations of Arai as premium helmet manufacturer. This he did by inventing a new way of producing helmet shells with heat formed resin. This technology granted Arai the first Japanese Industrial Standard safety helmet license in 1950 and two years on Hirotake supplied his first helmets to professional racers, establishing Arai as the choice of experts. To this day innovation and race-developed technology are fundamental to Arai’s market leadership and the company is still family-owned, managed by Hirotake’s son Michio and his grandson Akihito Arai. Another continuing tradition is the hand making of each Arai helmet, being the only way to meet our stringent quality control systems and meticulous attention to detail. These elements form the core of Arai’s ability to meet and surpass legal standards and provide our customers with the comfort and reassurance to fully enjoy their bikes or cars on roads or race tracks around the world.

HANDMADE in JAPAN An Arai helmet is different from the rest

An Arai helmet is produced without the slightest compromise in quality. From the beginning we have been solely devoted to the art and science of designing and building one of the best helmets humanly possible. That is why every Arai is almost 100% handmade in Japan and every single helmet is individually inspected, not once, but at every step in the manufacturing process. Arai is even able to trace back each and every helmet ever made to the craftsman who built it, because each helmet carries their individual signature of approval. Hard outer shell, soft inner shell Our approach to helmet construction is to use an extremely rigid and strong outer shell with a soft and comfortable inner liner and interior. A cheaper and easier way to produce a helmet is to do it the other way around - a soft thermo injected plastic outer shell and hard inner liner - but we don’t believe in such construction. The rigid and hard Arai outer shell spreads the force of an impact over the entire surface of the helmet, the remaining energy is then absorbed by the soft inner shell.

EMERGENCY RELEASE SYSTEM

The polystyrene inner shell protects the head against a crash impact by smoothly reducing the impact energy. The Arai inner shell comprises three to five different densities, because the human head needs different shock absorbance in different areas. Arai is one of the few manufacturers in the world able to produce an inner liner with multiple densities as one single component.

The cheek pads can be removed in seconds, just by pulling the orange tabs. The helmet can then be taken off with less risk of injury or discomfort to the rider.

A passion for helmet technology Arai has been the creator of numerous innovations that improved performance on the road and race track. Our passion for helmets makes us improve our crash helmets constantly, which results in new groundbreaking technology that serves our loyal clients worldwide. Some of the fruits of our R&D endeavors can be seen on these pages.

VX-3 HELMET RANGE 4

THE VX-3 Range Arai-style performance for dirt bikers

Off-road racing is a serious business which puts high demands on riding equipment. That is why our VX-3 off-road helmet is made to the same quality standard as our road racing products and shares most of their technology. It incorporates the Hyper Ridge, Emergency Release System and a fibreglass shell for your convenience. Off-road helmets can get wet, warm and sweaty so the VX-3 ventilation system is of great importance. Besides, the Dry Cool interior can be changed or washed when it inevitably gets dirty.

Featured tech: Removable roost guard

Removable diffuser ventilation

VX-3 Motion Orange

The removable and flexible roost guard covers a large surface to block as much debris as possible. With the top of the chin bar tilted forward the roost guard provides plenty of nose room.

Aided by the VX-3 radical peak, the front air ducts are force-fed with cooling air. The warm and moist air is then sucked out through the four rear air ducts caused by the large venturi vacuum effect of the diffuser. The diffuser can be removed for cleaning.

TOUR-X 4 HELMET RANGE 6

THE TOUR-X 4 Range Ready for anything

Adventure, grand touring or off road, no matter the riding conditions, the Tour-X 4 is ready for anything. The Tour-X 4 has a complete new outer shell. Redesigned to be tougher, stronger and stiffer than ever. As the Tour-X 4 may be used under extreme conditions, the ventilation system has been redeveloped for maximum efficiency. The new Facial Contour System (FCS) offers more support and comfort to the lower jaw and creates a tighter fit. For an even better personal fit, there is a removable 5 mm surface foam layer on the cheek pads and temple pad from the headliner. Wear the Tour-X 4 with or without peak, with or without visor and combinations of these two. The large visor opening offers plenty of room for motocross-style goggles when riding without visor.

Featured tech: Side exhaust ports

TOUR-X Peak

TOUR-X 4 Adventure Red

New side exhaust port cowlings produce a low pressure behind the rear vent for better hot air extraction. Inside, a small foam dam helps absorb and diminish excessive noise, without reducing ventilation performance.

The Tour-X 4 peak is nothing short of radical. It scavenges and forces air into the forehead vent port for cooling, while also using multiple relief ports to reduce buffeting at high speeds.
