he Sport Horse In-hand entrants needed to endure a second day of Scottsdale rain. While they benefited from the protection of covered arena 7, they needed to cross a muddy quagmire to get there. The highest in-hand score of the show, an impressive 91, went to Bonne Vivant, out of 161 purebred and Half-Arabian entries in all divisions. The bay Monogramm son (out of Bonne Cherie by *Bandos) is owned by Cheryl Showah of ASA Farm. “We feel blessed to have Bonne Vivant,” Cheryl said. “BV’s wins were commendable especially in light of this year’s Scottsdale competition in the Sport Horse division; virtually all the horses he competed against were National winners. We were very pleased the judges chose an Arabian sport horse with true Arabian type!” The icing on the cake, however, was Bonne Vivant’s under saddle performances in dressage where he won Dressage First Level Test 1, Test 3 Stakes Championship, and Champion High Score (First Level) with Lindsey Anderson-O’Keefe in the irons. He also stepped up a level and won Reserve Champion High Score Dressage Second Level (named from participants of Second Level Tests 1, 2, and 3). What is next for ASA Farm’s bay stallion? “We are committed to the FEI level [highest level in dressage], as Lindsey really thinks he has the talent to excel,” explains Showah. The Sport Horse In-hand Champion Mare was HS Jakes Jewell (Jake Jamaal JCA x Kouray) owned by High Star Farms LLC of Los Alamos, California, with Alasting Love VF (Allience x True Love), owned by Dianne Peltak, San Ramon, California, getting the reserve.
