2012 Youth Nationals

And In The End … Trainer Leah boyd, of Cedar ridge Arabians, explains just how special this event has become for Arabian youth competitors. “one of the biggest aspects of Youth is certainly the camaraderie,” says boyd. “it’s fun to see different kids from all over the country competing against each other, but still being really close friends and supportive of each other at the end of the class. it’s a very unique and fun horse show in that regard. “Also, showing at Youth nationals myself for so many years, i think it’s really helpful that i can offer my perspective on the show. For me, in the younger riders, that perspective is a big part of the whole deal—like, yes, this year is important, but you have to remember that you’re going to be showing at Youth for years to come. so, thinking of every class or year as a stepping

stone for the next challenge can be a really great way to deal with the nerves of showing at Youth nationals.” Another year of Youth nationals is in the record books—another marathon show is left in the Albuquerque dust, and yet, the memories of first national championships, comeback stories, and new friendships formed are still fresh in the minds of all who were involved. it is a show so unique and lifechanging that even though everyone is beyond spent by the end of it, they will be back next year to support the future of the Arabian industry—the fresh, smiling kids who simply love to show their Arabian horses.  Volume 43, no. 5 | 275
