JUNIOR SCHOOL BUSH CARE

The start of the term it was time for the year 6's to get busy at Bush Care The students worked hard mulching the track.

6R with the help of Mr Oberman mulched the area just past the cross track and managed to haul two loads of mulch all the way from the Mulching Pit.

Mr Rees and 6W were hard working on the top of the track along the Freeway. Sadly 6B’s session was cancelled last minute due to weather; but luckily they will be able come in week 6.

After EXEAT its time for Year 2, Year 1 & Pre Primary to come to bush care and help with the weeding!

THURSDAY SERVICE LEARNING BUSHCARE

Thursday Bush Care saw an influx of new faces to start the term and they proved they are all tough workers. The boys worked hard moving the mulch along the freeway side of the track.

Once all the mulch was cleared they moved on to weeding In its second year the boys competed against each other to find the smallest & biggest Yellow Soldiers and Pink Gladioli This year the Yellow Soldiers seem to be more present but we may see that will change in coming weeks when the flowers of the Gladioli start to sprout and they become easier to spot.

SATURDAY BUSH CARE

At week 1 Bush Care saw the students busily work on mulching the freeway side of the firebreak which was in desperate need of fresh mulch and was severely eroded from the winter rains The remaining mulch was used during the week 3 Bush Care where the boys managed to connect the track with the section mulched during Term 2.

Continuing on with the hard work started by the Thursday Bush Care Students; Saturday Bush Care Volunteers were hard at work removing more invasive weeds from the Peninsula, with students participating in the Bush Care Weed Off. Students were tasked with finding the biggest or smallest Yellow Soldier with awards going to the winners.

CONTACT INFORMATION

After EXEAT the boys will continue to remove Yellow Soldiers and will work on removing the dreaded Pink Gladioli
