This document’s purpose is to ensure that students are aware of their responsibilities when using any technology device authorised by Aquinas College. The fives main elements, under which each rule is organised, are taken from the Australian Curriculum’s ICT Capability (ACARA, 2013) Upon the issue of a device the student must agree to:
1. Managing and Operating ICT

Reportdamageofthedeviceassoonaspracticableafterthedamageoccurs 8 Chargethedevice’sbatterydaily.9. EnsurethatonlytheAquinasapprovedoperatingsystemandsettingsareinstalled.10. Ensurethatconfigurationsettingsand/orprofilesremainactiveonthedevice.11. Refrainfromusingthedeviceasagamingmachine(studentsmaynotaccesstheirdevice duringBreakAorBreakBunlessintheLibrary,forthesolepurposeofcompletingschoolwork) 12 Beresponsibleforalldamageorlosscausedbyneglectorabuse Intheeventoftheftor deliberatedamagewhileatschool,theincidentmustbereportedtotheICTHelpDesk immediately Apolicereportwillneedtobecompletedbyparentsorthestudentinthecasesof loss,theft,orvandalism

Loss / Damage / Return of Devices
Intheeventoflossoraccidentaldamage, studentsmustreporttheincidenttotheICT HelpDeskimmediately Anydamagethatisasa resultofanactthatisinbreachofthis agreement,ormaliciousdamagethecostof repairwillbemetinfullbytheparent/guardian Forotherlossordamage,a$200feewillapply forthefirstclaimwhichispayabletoAquinas Collegeortheinsuranceprovider
Forasecondorsubsequentclaimforrepairsa feeofuptothefullpriceoftherepairor replacementcostmaybecharged Studentswho withdraw,whoaresuspendedorexpelled,or terminateenrolmentatAquinasCollegeforany otherreason,mustreturntheCollege-owned deviceonorbeforethedateoftermination
Overarching Agreement
UseofatechnologydeviceatAquinasCollege, whetheritisCollegeownedorParentowned,isa privilegeandnotaright Studentsinbreachof thisagreementmayhavetheirdevice confiscated,losenetworkaccessprivileges and/orotherconsequencesasoutlinedintheICT UsebyStudentsPolicy.
Inaddition,itisthestudent’sresponsibilityto reporton,andwhereappropriateremindtheir peersof,thecommitmentmadewhensigning thisCodeofConduct Thestudentalso understandsthat,bysigningtheagreement, theyagreetoworkwithinthetermsand conditionsoftheICTCodeofConduct.

TheGuidelinesincludedinthisdocumentaredesignedtoensureallstudentsandthecommunity cangainfromthebenefitsofthistechnology Anoutlineofthedisciplinaryactionwhichmayresult ifastudentbreachestheguidelinessetoutinthisdocumentareasfollows:
Step 1:Studentwillreceiveanafterschooldetention
Step 2: Studentaccountisdisabledfromthenetworkfora2weekperiod Afterschool/Saturdaydetention
Step 3:Studentdeviceisre-imagedandaccountisdisabledfora5weekperiod
Step 4:MeetingwiththeCollegePrincipal.Collegeaccountisdisabledindefinitely. Disciplineconsequencesmayvarydependingontheseverityoftheoffence. Parentsareinformedifstudentsarebeingsanctionedaccordingtotheaboveprocess.
