This place was always in my dreams, I always wanted to give a visit there, and dive into the blue waters. But the saddest part of this dream has always been the same – I

CANNOT SWIM!!

But, but, but… I believe that if you want something wholeheartedly, you will surely get that one day. And that one day came to my life with the helmet diving excursions for non swimmers. Yes, I think, Mauritius also wanted to see my madness, and that’s why

Aquaventure came to fulfill my dream.

Actually, being into so much of excitement, I have written this blog to share my experience with you. How I felt before and how was it after the dive…

Planning for the Underwater Dive My trip to Mauritius was really special because I was with my partner. Both Mauritius and the partnered trip were first time for me. So, as you can understand, I was utterly excited.

We were planning for how to make the trip something worth memorable for the rest of our lives. And in this discussion, I suddenly said (of course, it was a joke), “What about an underwater dive!!”

Alan (my partner) promptly replied, “Great idea!! This will be really different. I have never done this before!!”

Well, I had also not done that before and though I wanted to do that, I was afraid because of being a non-swimmer. But this was not the case with Alan. He can swim confidently.

“Alan, come on man!! You know I cannot swim!! I was just joking!! Let’s plan for something else, can we!!” was my fearful reply.

After listening to his reply, I was really shocked – “I know that darling!! But you don’t have to fear when I am here. I will take care of everything. I know you were joking, but literally, I am not. I want to do this and you will also love it, I am sure. Trust me once and for all – everything will be fine.”

What was going inside me…?

What to say!! I had to agree with him; otherwise he would have felt bad that I did not trust him. I definitely trust him, but water is something I am really scared of. I knew that I cannot learn how to swim within 2-3 days!! So, I kept on wondering what he is going to do!! How will he make swim in 3 days!! I was scared inside, yet tried hard not to express that. But I had no clue that Alan understood what’s going inside me!! Still, he did not say a word and did not even change the plan.

The Diving Day… Finally the day of our diving excursion came and I had no idea about what to do!! When we reached the venue, I was amazed to see the oceanic view. I literally forgot all my fears for the time being. The clean blue water looked mesmerizingly beautiful and I kept on staring at the scenic beauty of the place.

And then suddenly, some people came in front of us, saying, “We are your instructors.”

I understood that my time has arrived. I again dived back to that fearful state thinking how to ignore this situation. At that time, only one thing was there in my mind, “I don’t want to die so soon…”

The instructors taught us all the signs to be used underwater, how to use the underwater equipments and all other necessary stuffs. I was holding Alan’s hand and my heart kept on beating faster and faster. No, not for the loving emotion I have for Alan, it was out of my fear to dive underwater.

“What to do, what to do!!” kept on going in my head…

One of the instructors read my face and asked me, “What happened, my dear!! Are you not excited to do the dive!! Every other person is clicking photos, smiling, chattering, and even your boyfriend also seems to be excited!! Are you scared?”

And my answer was immediate – “Yes!!”

With another shock, the instructor’s reply was also immediate – “You don’t have to worry.

You are just safe because we are here to do helmet diving excursions for non swimmers.”

“What!! Non swimmers!! I don’t understand.” I said.

“This package is specially made for the non swimmers. Yes, the swimmers can also avail it.

But for people like you, who cannot swim, it’s of course tough to suddenly dive into the water. That’s why we have brought this package which can be enjoyed by all without any fear. Here, don’t have to swim, you will simply walk with the marine life.” The instructor replied.

“Really!!” All the worries immediately washed off my face.

“Now, are you ready to dive into the water and enjoy some moon walk!!?” Alan said.

The instructor also smiled with my reply, “Why are you standing here!! Lets run, man!!”

The Dive

The experienced guide, who convinced me to get out of fear, held my hand at one side and Alan grabbed me from the other side and we went into the water. The life underwater was dreamy. Everything was flowing around me, the fishes were floating, corals were there, and everything was just perfect. And even the helmet did not weigh much to tire us up. Alan was always there beside me, holding me. Even being an excursion for the non swimmers, the instructor was also very careful about my safety.

How I felt after the Dive I walked in the blue water thinking how beautiful this world is. I felt like turning into Ariel, the mermaid, and staying there for lifetime. But of course, I had to get myself out of that fantasy and come back to the real world.

After coming out of the water, I was still into some beautiful trance feeling the blue beauty around. I felt like the world has become so pure, and fresh. I never felt so rejuvenated ever before this dive. I was feeling it till we got back to the hotel.

Alan was also very happy after the dive and the reason was my satisfaction, specially. I thanked him for treating me with the helmet diving excursions for non swimmers and threw a party to his honor back in Mauritius.

Our love became even stronger after that trip and we are planning to get married very soon.

And guess the place we have planned as our honeymoon destination!! It’s Mauritius!!!! And we will again go for an underwater dive, that too with the same old package because obviously, I am still a non swimmer. And when I have experienced such beauty even after being unable to swim, what’s the necessity to learn it!!
