HOT TUBS IN A BUSINESS SETTING

Hot Tub Ideas For Holiday Parks, Lodges And More! Enjoying use in an ever-widening range of environments, hot tubs in a business setting have become an expectation rather than an exception over recent years, especially among many who choose to spend their leisure time in the UK. With the introduction of HSG282, manufacturers have been quick to produce a number of sector specific solutions to ensure compliance too. With holiday parks, lodges and cottages driving demand, in this issue we take a look at some of the sector specific solutions By Jon Wadeson

ot all that long ago, the sight of a hot tub outside someone’s home was a fairly rare event or it was at least restricted to select and exclusive locations. These days, they can be regularly seen in sports clubs and leisure facilities plus of course many types of holiday destinations. Holiday parks, lodges, cottages – they’ve all been quick to add them to provide a touch of the exotic to a UK-based holiday. Before the pandemic, they were increasingly popping up at music festivals and other outdoor events too! The UK’s holiday sector in particular has embraced hot tubs over recent years and according to research, they are one of the most requested items from customers researching holidays of this type online. Research also suggests that with the introduction of a hot tub, impressive premiums can be added to the overall price of a holiday and occupancy rates greatly improve too. So with statistics like these, it is no surprise that hot tubs have performed so well in the sector. A number of considerations have to be taken into account when it comes to maintaining models in these settings though. Their operation should be in accordance with the latest Health & Safety Guidance – HSG282: The control of legionella and other infectious agents in spa-pool systems – something which the hot tubs showcased within this feature all meet. Operating methods, costs and durability also have to be considered too but thankfully, manufacturers have been quick

to acknowledge the sector’s needs and produce a number of models plus develop technologies specifically for it. With numerous solutions on offer, in this issue, we take a closer look at just a handful of them.

SPA MINI COCKTAILS – AN IDEAL PRODUCT FOR THE HOLIDAY RESORT SECTOR Best-know for filters and their SaniStream™ Direct Line Filtration system, Darlly Europe launched an extension to their very popular Spa Cocktails range of unique Dead Sea salt crystals at this year’s SPATEX exhibition. Darlly’s Gil Gingell said the company’s fabulous range is intoxicating, and provides a ‘cocktail feel’ to a consumer’s spa relaxation experience. Already supplied in 500g jars, they are now available in an enticing 70g pouch which will provide three uses. Spa Mini Cocktails are perfect for consumers to try the Spa Cocktail experience, therefore they’re an ideal product for the Holiday Resort sector and can even be co-branded too. This makes the product a simple and ideal ‘add-on’ sale for operators and Gil advised that the demand for the new pouches had been remarkable. Spa Cocktails granules are spa safe, oilfree, will not clog filters or jets and will not affect water chemistry. Darlly’s Spa Cocktails range is offered in six fragrances: Margarita, Moscow Mule, Daiquiri, Blue Lagoon, Gin & Tonic, Pink Rain and Pink Gin Fizz; each uncannily evoking the popular alcoholic blends they are named after. The packaging is attractively designed for retail settings, with Darlly recommending that the crystals are displayed in Martini glasses to allow members of the public to experience the aroma before making a buying decision. The labelling on each bottle of the product carries a fascinating history on the origins of each cocktail. Spa Mini Cocktails are perfect for trying the Spa Cocktail experience, therefore they’re an ideal product for the Holiday Resort sector

Hot Tub Suppliers are launching the Lodgic for the holiday let market – a specially designed hot tub that is HSG282 compliant

LODGIC – A COMPLETE HOLIDAY LET HOT TUB This summer, Hot Tub Suppliers are launching a specially designed HSG282 compliant hot tub called Lodgic for the holiday let market. The concept was to develop a model which was stylish and reliable to cater for the emerging holiday rental sector and feature a user interface which benefits both guests and management. The six seater Lodgic is a 2m x 2m square design which is both attractive and practical for owners and users. A hot tub used in this kind of business setting has to incorporate all the specification of a luxury model with added features to ensure owners and operators remain totally in control of the hot tub and any HSG282 requirements. Lodgic is sanitised via an above cabinet automatic chemical feeder within the hot tub filter and is therefore easy to monitor and service. Chemical dosing is vital to keep the hot tub sanitised and free from bacteria for safe use by guests. The top control panel also has minimal functions to restrict users to basic operations (jets and lights). A second, complete management control panel is hidden within the lockable cabinet to ensure safety. From experience and customer feedback, Hot Tub Suppliers know a restricted top panel will eliminate user errors and keep the hot tub in peak condition.
