While sipping the morning bed tea next day to my surprise, as I pulled the curtains of my room, the breath taking view of the hills with a jacket of fog enveloping the sky awakened my inner being.It reminded me once again that we are on a height and energised me to get set for the escapade on the day two. The scenic landscape with gigantic rocks, array of coniferous trees, flowering shrubs and lovely lakes stand in contrast to the arid environment and has endowed the hill station with a pleasant climate. A boat-ride on the placid waters of the breath taking Nakki Lake studded with little islets was a joy indeed. The world famous Dilwara temples with rich and intricate marble carvings left us awestruck, pondering over the workmanship of the artistes. These marble carvings are over a thousand years old. You would be compelled to wonder that when modern sculpting gadgets were unavailable at that time how they managed to create such masterpieces.

After lunch we proceeded to Udaipur by our chartered bus. By the time we reached Udaipur it was late in the evening and we retired in our hotel rooms. With the ochre and purple ridges of the wooded Aravalli Hills stretching away in every direction, Udaipur has a romance of unmatched setting. Fantastical palaces, temples, havelis and countless narrow, crooked, colourful streets add the human counterpoint to the city’s natural charms. Surmounted by balconies, towers and cupolas towering over the Pichola lake, the imposing City Palace is Rajasthan’s largest palace.
