HOW TRAINEESHIPS CAN HELP YOU RETAIN PRACTITIONERS! Hiring and retaining early years practitioners is a struggle across the childcare sector at the moment - but early years traineeships can support your setting to tackle the issue head-on. Traineeships give you the opportunity to offer practical training to aspiring childcare professionals. Here is how they can improve your staff retention… You can judge their skills first-hand. Since your trainee will be working in your setting alongside your team, you’ll be able to accurately evaluate their skills and see if they are the right fit. You can be more confident in your decision to hire them as a practitioner full-time. You’ll know that they’re committed to childcare. Traineeships give young people a taste of what a career in childcare is like before making the commitment to an apprenticeship. If your trainee stays committed to working in childcare, you’ll know they’re dedicated to starting their career in your setting and you can retain them in the long term.
Create pathways to becoming qualified practitioners. Traineeships reduce the risk of your apprentices dropping off programme when they transition onto a level 2 or 3 early years apprenticeship. Use traineeships as an opportunity to trial potential apprentices before making the decision to enrol them. Click here to discover more about our early years traineeships! We also want to say thank you - we understand how much pressure the settings we work with are under due to practitioner shortages and we are incredibly grateful for your continued support, cooperation and partnership. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without you, so thank you!
