EYFS REFORMS: DO YOU KNOW WHAT’S COMING? In September 2021, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) will be changing for all settings. A consultation ran from 24th October 2019 to 30th January 2020 to outline several changes to the framework. The Government hope the changes will improve outcomes for all children, particularly the language and literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children and reduce teacher workload. Some nurseries and schools have become early adopters of this new framework and have been delivering from this new EYFS framework as of the last academic year (September 2020). Any setting or school who is not an early adopter should be using the framework that is currently in place. The key changes coming in September 2021 include learning development requirements, educational programmes for the seven areas of learning (the curriculum) and assessment requirements. A new level 5 apprenticeship programme, the Early Years Lead Practitioner Standard, has been proposed and approved by the Institute of Apprenticeships. We are pleased to announce we are working to be able to deliver this programme as soon as possible following the release of the standard and we would like to work with employers to support delivery. The content of the programme has mostly been developed and we are already developing the course ready to launch. We are currently compiling a shortlist of candidates from the settings we support who have expressed an interest in enrolling onto the level 5 course. UPCOMING COURSE INTAKES
During the last week of March 2021, the UK Government released updates to their guidance surrounding actions for early years and childcare providers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. These changes included updated guidance on shielding for staff and children, asymptomatic testing, Test and Trace payments for parents, parent and child groups: singing, educational visits and resuming Ofsted visits.
