EARLY YEARS NEWSLETTER APRIL 2021
EYFS REFORMS: DO YOU KNOW WHAT’S COMING? In September 2021, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) will be changing for all settings. A consultation ran from 24th October 2019 to 30th January 2020 to outline several changes to the framework. The Government hope the changes will improve outcomes for all children, particularly the language and literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children and reduce teacher workload. Some nurseries and schools have become early adopters of this new framework and have been delivering from this new EYFS framework as of the last academic year (September 2020). Any setting or school who is not an early adopter should be using the framework that is currently in place. The key changes coming in September 2021 include learning development requirements, educational programmes for the seven areas of learning (the curriculum) and assessment requirements. Want to know more? This document will
support you to understand the full extent of the government’s changes being implemented currently by the early adopter schools and settings. This document outlines the proposed changes to the framework for all early years as of September 2021 Additionally, this video by the The British Association for Early Childhood Education is a Facebook live video which demonstrates the different opinions about the planned changes as voiced by individuals and businesses in the Early Years community.
