As a Centre of Excellence, we adhere to all rules and regulations set out by CIDESCO relating to tutorial hours, teachers experience, training equipment and subjects offered. We expect our students to reciprocate the high standards that we deliver in a true professional environment.

CIDESCO promotes very high standards of training in schools throughout the world where students are expected to achieve a minimum of 7O% in both their written and practical examinations to achieve a pass grade.

Additionally, to obtain the Diploma, each student is required to submit a thesis on a subject related to beauty, health, fitness, cosmetics etc. This thesis, of some 3,OOO words, must be the own work of the student with any sources fully credited.

At the very least, excellent class attendance is required. No exceptions. Students who fail to complete the required number of tuition hours will not be accepted for examination by CIDESCO at the end of the academic year in June.

The Diploma course is offered either full time over one academic year (September to June) or as a part-time option over two years. For full-time students, classes are scheduled for Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3.3Opm, with holidays for Christmas & Easter. Part-time students are facilitated by prior arrangement subject to demand.

Upon graduation, students will be registered with CIDESCO International.

To complement your studies, and further your career prospects, we recommended completing a Nail Technician course, which we offer at a discount to CIDESCO students.

These courses can help therapists gain the confidence to return to the workplace after a break, or reintroduce them to skills they may not have used very often in their normal work routine.

Students may also use the course to learn new treatments or skills to maximise their understanding and experience of current trends and techniques.

Devised primarily for those with industry experience, or holding part qualifications earned elsewhere, this intense personalised training is devised for your specific needs and requirements. Training and tutorship is performed on a one-to-one basis.

The amount of time required, and the final course fee, is determined by the skills and experience of the student. Therefore, before commencement of the course, a full and detailed discussion between tutor and student is necessary to allow us both to understand and appreciate what is required to bring the student to our respected “salon ready� standard of graduate.

Students should be aware that they probably will remember more than they realise when undergoing the course, and in many cases it is a matter of regaining confidence.

We shall continuously monitor progress as we proceed, and adjust times accordingly.

With CIBTAC, We Prepare The Therapists Of The Future, Ensuring That They Are Educated To The Highest Possible Standard.

Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC) - Diploma Courses In partnership with CIBTAC, The Cork College of Beauty Therapy offers training in a variety of individual diploma courses enabling students to develop their knowledge over one year full time or part time over a number of years.

Exams are held each year in June and students are required to achieve a minimum of 65% in both the practical and theory examination to be awarded the Diploma. Exams are set and supervised by CIBTAC. CIBTAC also require students to complete a minimum number of training hours before they can take the exams and to document all course work completed in their own time.

These will be evaluated as part of the final assessment.

Electrolysis Theory and practical work forms part of the examination making revision of this area essential. This Revision will be done in your own time, and will be assessed by your tutor prior to your examination.

Specialist Certificate Courses On successful completion of any specialist certificate course, a Cork College of Beauty Therapy Certificate will be awarded and presented to the student.

SPECIALISED WAXING / ADVANCED WAXING Highly specialised intimate waxing, including Brazilian and Hollywood using both hot and cold wax. Learners must have completed a basic waxing course and hold a relevant certificate.

Lessons are private, on a one-to-one basis, and students must provide suitable models for training purposes. Classes will be at mutually suitable times, by appointment.

Usually a minimum of 5-6 classes will be required.

WAXING FOR BEGINNERS - HOT AND COLD

• Leg waxing • Underarms • Bikini • All related theory, including waxing products • Hygiene • Bacteria • Sterilisation • Business

Students are required to provide models for practice during tuition. The course runs from January to May at various times and is open to students without any prior beauty training and those who wish to add to already acquired beauty therapy diplomas.

This is a one-day course held at different times throughout the academic year, subject to demand. A practice model is required. A massage qualification or equivalent is a prerequisite to take this course.

Our Student Charter / Code of Conduct Before commencing studies with us, all students are to confirm their acceptance of our Code of Conduct by signing a copy at their interview stage. Based on a simple ethos of showing respect for each other and our professional surrounds, the 24 points are : 1. All books, notes, work-kit, etc, must be brought to every class.

2. Uniform - consisting of a white nurse’s uniform dress, natural tone tights, white shoes and navy cardigan - must be worn to every class.

3. Appropriate footwear to be worn.

4. In the interest of hygiene, long hair must be tied up and all nails must be kept short and unvarnished.

5. No jewellery, other than a wristwatch, may be worn to class.

6. Students must provide their own beauty work kit i.e. tweezers, sponges, head bands, etc.

These can be purchased at the College.

7. One full set of study notes, creams, towels, etc will be provided by the College where stated, but not work implements. Students must buy these.

8. Study notes remain the property of the College and cannot be loaned, sold or copied.

9. Study notes remain the Copyright of Susan Ryan. All rights reserved. No part of these notes may be reproduced in any form or by any means (inc. photocopying, scanning & email) without the written permission of the copyright owner.

11. Students cannot refuse any treatment unless medically unsuitable and a doctor’s certificate is presented.

12. Personal articles should not be brought to Page 28

class. The college will not be responsible for any damage or loss for any personal items.

13. You must arrive at least 1O minutes before class is due to start, wearing full uniform and simple day make-up.

14. You may not leave class early for buses etc.

You are aware of class times, therefore make suitable travel arrangements.

15. Any classes you miss will be your own responsibility, and it is up to you to catch up in your own time. Lectures will not be duplicated.

16. Lateness will not be tolerated.

17. The fee-payer will be notified of all absences.

18. Failure to achieve the required standard in College examinations may lead to termination of training without refund. This decision is at the discretion of the College principal.

19. Failure to abide by the school regulations may lead to expulsion without refund.

2O. Insolence to staff will not be tolerated, and may result in dismissal without refund.

21. Mobile phones, ipads, tablets etc, must be switched off within the college.

23. Students who fail to complete the course for whatever reason cannot be guaranteed to be offered a place in subsequent years.

24. A non-refundable deposit of 5O% of the course fee is payable on acceptance of a place, following the interview. The balance of the fee is to be paid in full by the FIRST day of the course.
