Female leadership grows at Roswell Rotary Club

With the addition of the tennis tournament, they hope to bring in more people and more donations. Keyserling has been planning this event since last October along with her co-chair, after-party chair and tennis tournament chair, all of whom are female. Keyserling says it wasn’t planned that way, it just happened. “Some of the best female friends I’ve made are from the Roswell Rotary Club,” Keyserling said. She and the Roswell Rotary Club are very excited about the possibilities of this year’s fundraiser. “It’s hard to believe that that much fun can do that much good,” she said. or 62 years, the Roswell Rotary Club has served its community through volunteeronly work by its members. Traditionally an all-male group, it wasn’t until 1991 that Roswell Rotary saw its first female member. Now, 21 percent of the group is female. In 2000, the first female Roswell Rotary president was chosen, starting a trend in female leadership that continues with Theo Keyserling (right), the first female to serve as chair of Roswell Rotary’s golf tournament fundraiser. “The Roswell Rotary Club is unique and if people come to visit, they will understand. It’s young, upbeat and vibrant. It’s big people with big voices that want to make a big impact – regardless of gender,” said Keyserling, who is proud to be at the helm of the 35th annual Aubrey Greenway Golf Tournament fundraiser and first annual Hagan Cup Tennis Tournament. “It’s going to be a record breaker,” Keyserling said. The golf tournament is the largest all-volunteer fundraising event in the state of Georgia. This year, they will be introducing a tennis tournament to the event. Last year’s fundraiser brought in $144,000,
