Planning board votes against Five Acre Road townhomes By SARAH COYNE sarah@appenmedia.com MILTON, Ga. — After pushback from the community, the Milton Planning Commission voted not to recommend approval of a proposed plat for townhomes on Five Acre Road at its June 4 meeting. The preliminary plat goes against the traditional density of Five Acre Road,
which is known for lots sized 5 acres or more, with one single-family home. The 1.88 acres and 1.97 acres at Ga. 9 and Five Acre Road is owned by developer, Epic Design & Build, LLC. The developer seeks to subdivide 3.87 acres at 265 Five Acre Road into 20-unit townhomes with a density of no more than 10,000 square feet per acre. The land is a part of four parcels
adjacent to Ga. 9, which are included in the 9 North Vision Plan, established to set future use of the parcels along the road. In 2013, property owners in and around Five Acre Road, the City of Milton and a facilitator from the Georgia Institute of Technology worked together to create the plan.

MILTON, Ga. — The Milton Fire Department has achieved a oneminute reduction in its average response BENMOUSSA time, according to Fire Chief Gabriel Benmoussa. Speaking at the June 2 City Council meeting, Benmoussa gave a presentation of the 2024 fire annual report. The report details technologydriven efficiencies and enhanced community risk reduction services and education. Benmoussa’s department includes four fire stations, with a fifth on the way. Just a little over 50 firefighters serve the city. In 2024, the department answered 3,558 calls, which included 1,842 EMS calls, 1,622 public service calls and 94 fire calls. The average response time for these calls was 6 minutes and 10 seconds, a decrease from 2023’s average of 7 minutes and 10 seconds. “We had about $1.7 million in property loss. That is a very conservative estimate,” Benmoussa said. “But we also saved about $1.46 million in properties.” The property lost and saved only accounts for structure fires.
