MILTON IN 2025 City takes reins on development By HANNAH YAHNE hannah@appenmedia.com MILTON, Ga. — Despite previous setbacks, the City of Milton managed to take control of development and made strides on major projects that will extend past 2025. Mayor Peyton Jamison started the year announcing that Milton will take over planning and designing of the Ga. 9 state widening
project. The agreement was approved in September. The Georgia Department of Transportation was leading the project until June 2024 when it discovered fraud in the right-of-way acquisition process. Now, Milton will collaborate with the state department to get 3.3 miles of Ga. 9 within the city limits reconstructed.

As we close another year in Milton, we do so with both pride in how far this community has come and a clear understanding of our responsibility moving forward. For almost 20 years, Milton has been shaped PEYTON JAMISON by thoughtful choices, Milton Mayor careful planning and a deep commitment to protecting the qualities that make this city special. Even before incorporation, residents worked intentionally to preserve a rural character, strong neighborhoods and a sense of place that continues to define Milton today. Change is not new to our community, and it has never been approached casually. What has always mattered is guiding change deliberately, with respect for our history and an eye toward the long term. Our focus remains on protecting what we value while ensuring that Milton continues to function extraordinarily well and meet the needs of its residents. Two initiatives reflect that responsibility particularly clearly: Destination Deerfield and planning for a future active park sports complex.
