You are invited to bring your family and friends to Ariel Christian Church’s Annual Ice Cream Supper on July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be special music at 6 p.m. The menu will include maid-rites, hot-dogs, potato salad, baked beans, potato chips, ice cream, homemade pie, cakes, and ice tea. Ariel church is a beautiful small historic church atop a hill just off Highway A southeast of Monroe City. There is no charge for this.

There will be a public hearing with Public Service Commission representatives for residents of Monroe County at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Knight’s of Columbus Hall, in Monroe City.
CLIMATE CHANGE TO BE DISCUSSED
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to invite the public to the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center on Saturday July 12, at 1 p.m. to listen to a special guest speaker. Dr Robert Sadler, Professor of Physical Science at Culver Stockton College, will give a presentation on Global Climate Change. Topics will include atmospheric processes that have shortterm and long-term influences on climate, anthropogenic causes of climate variation, indicators of climate change, and possible consequences of anticipated changes. The M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center is located on Rt. J, just south of the Clarence Cannon Dam. The 45th Annual Mark Twain Old Thresher’s Reunion opens today, Thursday, July 10, at the Paris Fairgrounds. Kick off begins today with the 4th Annual Poker Style Tractor Cruise starting at 9 a.m., with line-up at the south end of the Fairgrounds at 8:30 a.m., Ray Coffman is the chairman of this event. Take your tractor for a drive and see the countryside. The entry fee includes lunch along the way. The Annual Fish Fry, which is open to the public will start at 5:30 p.m., at the
Food Shack. The cost is $8.00 per plate and $4.00 for children six and under. Music provided by “Johnny Ragsdale and Friends.” The gates open at 1 p.m., on Friday and 7 a.m., on Saturday. The flea market and craft show will be open on both days. On Friday evening, there is the Farm Draft Horse Pull beginning at 6 p.m., in the arena at the south end of the Fairgrounds. Baby Show starting at 6 p.m., with registration at 5 p.m. Boy’s and Girl’s Divisions are: 0-6 Months, 7-12 Months, 13-18 Months, 1924 months and 25-35 Months There will also be a Lil’ Mr. and Miss Contest open to 3 to 5 year olds.
