Appalachian State University TRANSFER ADMISSION

Transfer your credit. Transform your life. You’re serious about your education. We’re serious about helping you succeed. Transferring should be simple – our goal is to make it simple. We’ll support you through your Appalachian experience by making sure that classes you take in the meantime will transfer to Appalachian and by guiding you through admission, financial aid, housing and distance learning processes. But the support doesn’t stop there – it continues through graduation!

At Appalachian, you’ll find a special combination of people and place. You’ll engage with our beautiful location in the Blue Ridge Mountains to strengthen your academic focus, discover your passions, enhance your leadership skills and take the next step in your life’s journey.

Learn how your courses will transfer

As you explore your major requirements, utilize the transfer guides to assist with choosing appropriate coursework. Review the Transfer Equivalency Course Search to determine how your courses completed at other institutions may transfer to App.

Get to know General Education at App

General Education (“Gen Ed”) courses offer a rigorous liberal education to supplement your major coursework. Gen Ed requirements can be met by completing an AA or AS (with a grade of C or above in all of the core coursework) from an NC community college. Out-of-state and four-year institution coursework will be evaluated by the Office of General Education.

When to apply

Apply at least one semester before your intended date of enrollment by submitting a CFNC application, fee and college transcripts. Admitted students will be given a deadline to confirm enrollment and submit the advance payment required to reserve their place in the incoming class. The application opens in August for the following academic year. Transfer admission decisions are released on a rolling basis until each class is full.

Apply for merit scholarships and financial aid

Transfer students who have shown previous academic success and involvement prior to enrollment are eligible for merit scholarship opportunities at Appalachian. Submit the financial aid application early for priority consideration by March 1 and submit the scholarships application by March 15. •

Review your official transfer credit evaluation

A notification that your transcript has been evaluated will arrive by email one to two weeks after you are admitted. You will be directed to your DegreeWorks Audit to see your evaluation. Send Appalachian an updated transcript after you complete each semester at your current institution.
