Last week I farewelled my colleague and friend Catherine Stewart at a fitting service on her back lawn overlooking the ocean at One Tree Point. Catherine bravely battled MSA, a rare form of motor neuron disease, for the past couple of years But more than that, she faced it the same way she faced life and work, head on, tough as nails, and giving 100% right until the end

I had the honour and privilege of working alongside Catherine for more than two years. We shared plenty of laughs, long drives between appraisals and buyer viewings, long blacks, and meals she would steal bites from if I ducked off to the loo. The last time I saw her, against all doctors’ orders, she reached for my wine and snuck a sip That was Catherine Determined, cheeky, stubborn, and completely herself
