In2023,thetourismindustrycontributed$271million totheHawke’sBay’seconomy,supported5,140jobs, andgeneratedanestimated$774millionofvisitor expenditure,and$139millionof“exports”orinternational visitorexpenditure.Theindustryaccountedforan estimated2.6%oftheregion’sGDPcontributionand5.7% ofemployment,withinternationalvisitorexpenditurein theregionrepresenting18%oftotalvisitorexpenditure.* Roughly85%ofourvisitorsaredomestictravellers. OwnedandconstructedbyTumu Property,thefour-storey,5,000sqm commercialbuildingwilldeliverquality officespaceintheheartofthecity. TumudirectorHamishFramesaidthe developmentwasaproudmilestonefor thebusinessandtheregion.

HastingsDistrictCouncilwillalsolease 1,950squaremetres,consolidating around80staffcurrentlylocatedacross thecityinthreeseparatelocationsinto onecentraloffice.
HastingsDistrictCouncilselectedthesale andleasebackarrangementasthemost cost-effectivesolutionforratepayers.It enablesprivatebusinesstoinvestinthe
developmentofaqualityofficebuilding, addingcapacitytoaconstrainedoffice accommodationmarketinHastings withoutCouncilneedingtoinvest.It alsounlockedavaluableopportunityto workwithatrusteddevelopertodeliver centrallylocated,qualitycommercial spaceforHastings.

MCLSteadisaimingfor87%ofitscontract valuetobedeliveredbylocallybased subtradesandworkforce.Theywilluse nationalsupplierswhenout-of-region supplyandexpertiseareneededbutwill enablethemtoworkwithlocalproviders forinstallation.Thiswillupskillthelocal marketandprovidefurthereconomic benefittoHawke’sBay.

Thecolourfulevent,heldattheNapier WarMemorialCentreandco-ordinatedby NapierConferences&Eventsteam,was ahugesuccessbringingtogethermore than350delegatesand120Porsche vehiclesinwhatwasthelargestever gatheringofPorschevehiclesinHawke’s Bay.
“Itwasanabsolutepleasuretohost theclubmembershere,”saidNapier Conferences&Eventsseniorevent planner,DonnaRansfield.“Rightfrom thestarttheywereallgreattodealwith andasateamwelovedhelpingdeliver ontheirexpectations.Theeventfeatured adynamicmultimediaexperience, over1,100mealsservedoverfourdays showcasinglocalfoodandwine,and plentyoflivemusicanddancing.There wasanenergythroughouttheweekend thatreallybroughteverythingtolife.”
