thermalheart Technology for a warmer, healthier, more comfortable family home. ThermalHEART technology lies at the centre of each profile in the ALTHERM Residential and METRO SERIES ThermalHEART ranges. The result – maximum energy conservation and interior comfort. A thermal insulator has been cleverly included around each window and door to ensure that cold transfer is minimised and interior warmth is retained. This powerful enhancement combined with double glazing makes for the ultimate in sensible year-round living.

COMFORT Choosing windows and doors that enhance you and your family’s wellbeing of well being makes perfect sense. Optimising temperatures, light and sound is a simple step that will increase comfort levels for all involved.

WARMTH Retaining more of your home heating is achievable with ALTHERM ThermalHEART. Windows and doors in this range offer 35% better thermal performance over and above standard double glazed products and an impressive 130% improvement over standard products with single glazing.

HEALTH ThermalHEART technology gives certainty about optimum inside temperatures, achieving a more consistent interior climate. Careful glass selection allows even further fine tuning of environmental factors, such as sound and light entry.

introducing our energy rating systems Energy efficiency is increasingly on the minds of New Zealanders. ALTHERM Window Systems are committed to energy efficiency. New Zealanders are becoming more aware of the importance of energy efficiency. It influences purchase decisions for a whole range of products, including windows and doors which have a big impact on the interior comfort level of homes. Retaining warmth in winter reduces power bills and increases wellbeing. ALTHERM are introducing two rating systems to guide consumers. Each of the window systems supplied by ALTHERM manufacturers is analysed by software utilising European methodology but applied to New Zealand weather conditions.

The ENERGY STAR® Mark System

WEERS

This is New Zealand’s only independent, government backed mark of energy efficiency. It is administered by EECA, the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority. The ENERGY STAR Mark is applied to the most energy efficient products within a category.

This system allocates between one and six stars to a job lot of windows and doors – so is more descriptive than the ENERGY STAR Mark programme. The WEERS system has been adopted by WANZ (the Window Association of New Zealand) and uses its own star logo. The more stars, the better the thermal efficiency.

Windows and doors supplied by APL manufacturers will qualify for the ENERGY STAR Mark when they achieve an R-value of 0.32. This is a demanding measure of thermal resistance. ThermalHEART products with double glazing will qualify for this Mark. Standard aluminium frames will also meet this threshold if they include high-performance double glazing, inclusive of Argon gas fill and Low-E coating partner in the ENERGY STAR Mark programme.

Window Energy Efficiency Rating System

Consumers will be able to see the energy rating for their job lot of windows and doors on their window quotation or in a separate report.

residential home Two cladding colours for a home can work nicely to create a pleasing effect for owners and passers-by. This split level, split roof dwelling used both white and grey to create an effective colour scheme. Along with the predominant white walls were inserts of grey weatherboards, colour coordinated with the Matt Sandstone Grey ALTHERM windows and doors. The contrasting darker elements were further accentuated by matching fascias, roof, spouting, balusters and painted portico. This is one of the handy features of the ALTHERM powder coat colour range – it allows identical matching with a range of popular industry roof and fascia colours.

A key feature of the ALTHERM Residential range supplied were long raking windows which followed the zigs and zags of the roof lines. Other products included sliding doors, French doors, bi-folding doors and awning windows. ICON stainless steel hardware was used.

ALTHERM ThermalHEART IS A GOOD CHOICE IN ALL REGIONS 1

residential thermalheart home ThermalHEART technology is an excellent choice in colder climates such as this Central Otago location at Kelvin Heights, Queenstown. But you don’t have to be in the deep south to get benefits from the use of ALTHERM ThermalHEART windows and doors. They offer good insulation from winter cold or summer heat in any part of the country. This home juggled with various parameters to achieve comfortable inside temperatures. ALTHERM ThermalHEART was chosen throughout the house to protect against chilly temperatures but the sliding doors and windows facing the lake and the westerly sun have green tinted glass to cut down on heat entry and glare. The large expanses of glass made double glazing an important ingredient to retain warmth. ThermalHEART is always used with double glazing. ThermalHEART has an insulator stitched into the core of every aluminium profile which dramatically cuts down on heat loss through the metal. This technology offers 30%* better thermal

performance for the total window system over and above standard double glazed windows and doors. ALTHERM ThermalHEART allows doors to heights of 2.1m in ‘very high’ wind zones. In this house a thermally efficient entrance door was also used, a Plasma aluminium door, which has a high density Styrofoam core for excellent thermal efficiency. URBO hardware colour-matched to the windows and doors (Silver Pearl) was used. *Based on a window 1500mm high x 1800mm wide with a sash / fixed light combination.

metro series home This award winning home in three connected double-height pavilions used METRO SERIES windows and doors in sliding formats. Designed by Richard Naish, of Auckland’s RTA Studio, the family home won the 2015 “HOME NZ” magazine Home of the Year award which is sponsored by ALTHERM. Described by commentators as the E-type house because of its upper-case E footprint, the home is an angular assembly of repeating roof pitches, raking glass and deeply recessed windows and doors outlined in black aluminium against a woody warm, vertical cedar cladding system. METRO SERIES sliding doors 2.4m high in Matt Black powder coat finish opened on to courtyards. These doors were in two-panel or bi-parting formats, which were recessed at the sill for a flush floor level. Opening windows were either METRO SERIES horizontal sliders or Shugg vertical sliders where two panes of glass move past each other without the inclusion of aluminium rails.

The ALTHERM manufacturer was involved in the manufacture and installation of a range of colour matching aluminium flashings, some of which were required to bridge and weatherproof the sills of the 300mm window recess. Flashings were also applied between vertically stacked windows and in continuous horizontals across the cedar cladding which aligned with the heads of windows and doors. Raking fixed lights were either standalone windows or placed above sliding doors to match roof or ceiling pitch. Colour-matching URBO hardware was used throughout.

Bi-parting METRO SERIES sliders with a raked window above and flashed in between with matching black powder coated aluminium. The Shugg windows on the right were separated by a wide black flashing with a deep flashing at the sill. Sliding doors were 2.4m high and were recessed at the sill for a flush floor effect. Popular URBO hardware was used on windows and doors. Other proprietary ranges are available.

metro series thermalheart home The owners of this home under the Remarkables near Queenstown found their METRO SERIES ThermalHEART windows and doors excellent during the winter months. In fact their description was a little more enthusiastic – “They’re fantastic; we wouldn’t live without them,” said Fraser, home owner. The owners are long time Queenstown residents and have found the benefits of double glazing combined with the insulating effectiveness of ThermalHEART technology a great improvement on previous interior environments they have lived in. On a cold morning recently, Fraser pointed his thermal imaging camera at a thermallybroken aluminium window mullion. The readings demonstrated a significant temperature differential between the outside and inside surfaces. The thermal break was doing its job well - reducing conductivity and increasing comfort levels.

The other benefit of the METRO SERIES ThermalHEART range is that it can be designed in quite large formats. The sliding doors in this house were 2.2m high but taller heights are possible. The profiles also allowed a long picture window on the eastern side of the house to capture breathtaking views of the nearby peaks.

captions 1. 2. 3. 4.

12

METRO SERIES profiles allow quite large windows, such as this picture window back to the Remarkables. The back door had an opening window in the top for ventilation to the laundry area. The Ironsand windows and doors blended well with the home’s earthy colour scheme. Colour-matched URBO hardware was used throughout.

“THEY’RE FANTASTIC; WE WOULDN’T LIVE WITHOUT THEM,” SAID FRASER, HOME OWNER

apl architectural series home The APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES is ideal for homes designed with large windows and doors. Its profiles have the size and strength to cope with wind pressure and weather loads across large spans, as seen in this beach front home. Tall sliding doors, up to 2.7m high in very high wind zones, are possible with the APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES but this home features products with very wide dimensions to optimise views unbroken by too many aluminium stiles or mullions. Wide sliding door and sliding window panels are featured as well as wide awning windows and fixed lights.

Because of the exposed location, heavy duty DuratecÂŽ powder coat was used for the windows and doors in Matt Charcoal. The architects for the house were McCoy + Heine Architects, of Auckland, and the builder was Percival Construction, of Whitianga.

captions 1. 2. 3. 4.

The APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES comes into its own with large window and door sizes. Single sliding doors rather than stacking panels were used in the home to reduce the number of aluminium stiles in view in the closed position. The door frame was recessed at the sill for a flush floor inside to out. Wide sliding windows were used as well as doors.

THE TASMANIAN OAK FACING ON THE SMARTWOOD PRODUCT MATCHED THE REST OF THE HOUSE 1

2

smartwood home This home had timber ceilings, exposed beams and wooden cabinetry so SMARTWOOD was a natural choice for the windows and doors. The Tasmanian Oak inner facing on the SMARTWOOD product was selected to match the rest of the house. This is one of the strengths of the SMARTWOOD range – a wide variety of timber types is available. Cedar is the standard offering but other commonly used woods include Jarrah, Kwila, Teak, American White Oak, Macrocarpa and Australian Oak. While the owners were seeking the warmth of wood on the inside, the home’s design also had a contemporary flavour which fitted the angular geometry necessitated by a hillside location.

captions 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

16

Doors in all styles are available – hinged, sliding and bi-folding. Casement windows can open to near 90° with special friction stays. Both sliding windows and bi-folds were used in the living area. The bi-fold doors were recessed at the sill for a flush interior floor. A top floor pergola exploited views to the Hauraki Gulf

This blend of traditional textures and modern architecture influenced the choice of SMARTWOOD timber profile. The square-edge option was chosen for its simplicity and clean appearance. A traditional scrolled edge option is available where a more emphatic colonial look is favoured. The external aluminium frames were powder coated in Duratec® Matt Bronco.

RELIABILITY, PROVEN PERFORMANCE AND SCOPE FOR SPECIALISED FEATURES RESIDENTIAL WINDOWS A fully contemporary suite of windows notable for clean lines, smooth surfaces and generously sized profiles for assured strength. ALTHERM Residential windows are the discerning choice for mainstream housing projects where reliability and proven performance are key priorities. A complete portfolio of window types is offered – awning, casement, sliding (horizontal and vertical), bi-folding, custom designed and overhead windows. Within each category there is scope to select specialised features. For example, trickle ventilation mechanisms can be included in awning and casement windows; corner sliders are available; and lay-back bi-folds can be chosen for clear decks. Other upgrades are available.

For colder climates or for commonsense yearround energy conservation in all regions, ALTHERM Residential ThermalHEART windows are highly recommended. These combine the impressive pedigree of the ALTHERM brand crossbred with the latest in thermal break technology. This technology greatly increases the thermal performance of the window system, reducing heat loss to the outside as well as condensation build-up. It’s a wise upgrade with a small price premium that’s more of an investment than a cost. ThermalHEART is always used with double glazing.

AN INTERMEDIATE RANGE WITH THE MUSCLE TO COPE WITH LARGE SIZES METRO SERIES WINDOWS In the space of just a few years the METRO SERIES has become one of the most popular ranges in the New Zealand window industry – and with good reason. METRO SERIES windows have the ‘muscle power’ to ensure that large sized formats perform with ease under a wide range of weather conditions. They sit one rung up from the capabilities of ALTHERM Residential. Awning windows, casements, and sliding options have been designed for suitability in ‘specific design’ environments where stringent strength requirements apply. But size and rigidity have not come at the cost of good looks; there is no compromise on aesthetics – all products are notable for their clean contemporary shapes. And

special options and features are available. Awning sashes can sit flush with the outside or overlap the frame; sliding window interlocker stiles and mullions sit flush in the closed position for superior aesthetics; bi-fold windows offer the clutter-free lay-back option. METRO SERIES windows are also available with ThermalHEART technology. This means that the benefit of great thermal performance is possible in larger formats outside the range of ALTHERM Residential. Optimising interior comfort levels and reducing heat loss are METRO SERIES benefits well worth considering.

AESTHETIC UNITY, STRENGTH AND A METICULOUS EYE FOR DETAIL APL | ARCHITECTURAL SERIES WINDOWS Especially designed for architectural homes and apartments, the APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES of high performance windows and doors is both modern and meticulous in design. Its shapes reflect the designer preference for clean, flush surfaces, continuous sightlines and square edge forms. The system was developed with aesthetic unity in mind – similar looks and lines for windows and doors and common frame edges to simplify architectural detailing. The APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES has been designed with the strength and versatility in mind. Its products – awnings, casements, sliders and bi-folds are capable of large formats in most

exposures. They have been designed for the predominant use of square, rather than sloped, beads. The suite reflects careful thought at the design stage – matching depth window frames and hinged and sliding door frames allow a continuous edge on the inside when products are coupled together. There are also no fins projecting out on window mullions and transoms: stiffening boxes project inwards. The APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES created a quiet design revolution for architects when it was launched and is now found on both mainstream and spectacular, award-winning homes throughout New Zealand.

A SEAMLESS BLENDING OF IDEAS WITH OUTSTANDING VISUAL APPEAL SMARTWOOD WINDOWS SMARTWOOD windows and doors offer an ideal blend of the visual and the practical. They combine the warm natural glow of timber on the inside with the durability of hard-wearing aluminium on the outside – the best of both worlds. Featuring an innovative composite construction, SMARTWOOD combines two disparate materials into a single product of outstanding performance and aesthetic appeal. The natural timber grain interior does more than provide a rich, traditional ambience to all living areas; it also has excellent thermal properties when combined with double glazing. An invisible thermal insulator between aluminium and wood creates a super-stable

environment for interior timber facings, thus expanding the range of timber types well beyond the standard Cedar offering. The unique aesthetics of Jarrah, Kwila, American White Oak, Macrocarpa, Australian Oak and other indigenous or exotic timbers can be chosen to suit your preferences. A full range of products is available – awning, casement, sliding bi-folding, bay and customdesigned. A host of enhancements and optional extras can be chosen. If any window system can be said to offer the promise of perfection, it’s SMARTWOOD. It’s a seamless blending of ideas.

VERSATILITY, THERMAL EFFICIENCY AND USER CONVENIENCE ARE KEY ATTRIBUTES ALTHERM ROOF WINDOWS These are the ideal choice for an overhead window that provides flexibility and thermal efficiency. ALTHERM roof windows minimise condensation and help retain interior heat and comfort levels. Two options are offered – fixed windows or hinged on one side to allow opening for ventilation when required. The ALTHERM roof window has a thermal break in both the frame and sash to ensure maximum thermal efficiency in the closed position. A key attribute is versatility – roof windows can be made in a wide range of sizes customised to the required dimensions. They are also capable of dual colour allowing a match with both interior schemes and the roof colour.

For maximum thermal effectiveness double glazing is used as standard in a thickness of 24mm, with Argon gas fill and low-e glass (inside). The structural glazed design of the window means that top edges are flush so that ponding of water is avoided (minimum 5° pitch recommended). Opening options are manual winders or electric activation from a keypad. Fixed windows are capable of being made in large sizes through the inclusion of a mullion.

captions 1. This roof window is electronically controlled from a keypad below. 2. The dual colour capability of the ALTHERM roof window means that the exterior can be colour-matched to the roof while the interior can be coordinated with the ceiling colour. 3. THE WIDEST RANGE POSSIBLE – WITH A ThermalHEART OPTION RESIDENTIAL DOORS ALTHERM has a superb door range to meet every need – from formal entrance doors, to sliders and bi-folds. There are numerous formats, features and hardware options to choose from. Particularly attractive is the range of aluminium entrance doors: from panels with traditional design touches to contemporary formats that feature tongue-and-groove planks or flat-sheet minimalism. And let’s not forget glass-faced front doors in stunning colours mounted on a strong aluminium inner frame. These have been a headline addition to the New Zealand door scene.

for the right situation, double sliders when ultimate user flexibility is wanted, or stacking doors for maximum indoor-outdoor connection. Common to all slider formats is the ‘flush sill’ feature for superior aesthetics. Smooth rolling is assured through easy-glide rollers – just the thing for larger double-glazed panels. ALTHERM bi-folds include the lay-back option where open doors fold back against adjoining walls for a clear deck. The maximum recommended door height is 2.1m in very high wind zones. STYLE AND VERSATILITY COME TOGETHER IN THIS HIGHLY POPULAR RANGE METRO SERIES DOORS This stylish and versatile range of heavy duty doors reflects a unified and contemporary design theme. Suitable for residential and architectural applications in demanding environments, the METRO SERIES occupies an intermediate position between ALTHERM Residential and the APL ARCHITECTURAL SERIES. Because of their versatility and economy METRO SERIES sliders are now one of the most widely specified door types in New Zealand. Frames and profiles feature clean, flat surfaces for a modern appearance. In keeping with this design philosophy the sliding door has an uncluttered sill rebate that meets designer demands for a simple, minimalist appearance. Sliding door interlocker

stiles and mullions sit flush in the closed position for superior aesthetics. METRO SERIES bi-folds have the capability of being supplied, in certain formats, with the lay-back feature in the open position for clear decks. The maximum recommended height is 2.4m in very high wind zones. As with METRO SERIES windows, the door range is also available with integrated ThermalHEART technology. This insulating barrier within each aluminium profile will keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Heat loss or gain is optimised. ALL IN ONE – SUPERB GOOD LOOKS AND EXCELLENT THERMAL PROPERTIES SMARTWOOD DOORS The warm ambience of timber on the inside and the durability of aluminium on the outside – that’s the SMARTWOOD combo. SMARTWOOD doors are a brilliant choice for discerning homeowners. Their blend of aesthetic excellence and unquestioned durability have prompted a widespread uptake of the product range throughout New Zealand. SMARTWOOD doors are the leading composite timber and aluminium door brand on the market. A comprehensive range is available – hinged and French, bi-folding doors and sliders. Because of the traditional appeal of timber, and its ease within a colonial context, hinged and French doors are well suited to the use of decorative bars on the glass. These give an emphatic distinction when used in

the right setting. A key feature of all door types is the availability of the ‘continuous sightline’ option. This ensures visual continuity across all doors and adjoining fixed lights. A wide range of woods can be used on the inside face. This choice offers the possibility of fine-tuning to achieve the exact look desired. SMARTWOOD doors have excellent thermal characteristics when combined with double glazing. They are also strong and robust: highly secure fixings are in place between the timber and aluminium faces.

colour options POWDER COATINGS

COLOUR SELECTION

Powder coatings are popular because of the wide colour range available. Their wide use is also enhanced by the availability of premium grade powders with advanced weathering capabilities.

Please note that for an accurate representation of colour it is important to view metal colour swatches in the light source under which the colour will normally be seen. Using artificial light sources to assess colour is not recommended.

Matt finishes rather than satin finishes have been introduced for most popular colours providing a smoother and more consistent appearance. Duralloy® powder coat is suitable for most residential developments and is the main powder grade used in New Zealand. Duratec® powder coat offers a superior warranty for a small price premium and may well be required depending on the location of your project in relation to the coastal corrosion zones as detailed in NZS:3604. For further information please see the warranty information below.

POWDER COATING WARRANTIES Duralloy® is designed for ■■ Residential developments ■■ Buildings up to 3 levels ■■ Properties greater than 100 metres from the mean high tide level ■■ Where a 10 year film and colour integrity warranty is desired Duratec® is designed for ■■ Prestigious residential and commercial developments ■■ All major architectural developments ■■ Properties greater than 10 metres from the mean high tide level ■■ Where a 15 year film and colour integrity warranty is required 48

ANODISING Anodised surface finishing is available as an alternative to powder coating. Anodising offers a glowing matt sheen to the aluminium. The new FROST® Ultra process minimises the appearance of visible grain, commonly observed in traditional anodising. Colours and film thicknesses available are natural/silver (in 12 and 25 microns), bronze in light, medium or dark (12 and 25 micron) plus Champagne and black (25 micron only). In coastal, industrial or other corrosive environments, 25 microns is the recommended film thickness and may be required in order to qualify for a warranty.

your choice of colour Choose the colour of your aluminium joinery carefully to get the right overall effect for your home. There are numerous options available and the choice is usually influenced by a number of factors, including the colour of the cladding and the interior colour schemes.

THE COLOUR CHOICES Two guides are available, the ALTHERM Popular Colour Range chart, which displays 35 colours, and a booklet of over 80 powder coat colours that you can choose from. The popular colours are less expensive than those that are less commonly requested. For colours within the popular colour range, matching window and door hardware is also more affordable and readily available than hardware in other colours. ■■

For a joinery colour that complements the house cladding it is common to choose a tone a few shades up or down from the cladding colour.

■■

Remember, however, that the colour of joinery you choose now may limit options in the future if you want a change of house colour.

■■

Contrasting joinery colours are popular; natural tones such as darker greens, blues, greys or black are often chosen.

■■

Dark or black joinery against a light coloured house, especially in a plaster finish, can look very sharp and attractive.

■■

Matching the joinery colour to the roof or fascia for a unified look is also popular.

■■

Remember that the joinery colour can influence interior colour schemes. A good option is to choose a neutral colour that preserves flexibility for interior selections e.g white, cream, grey, taupe, black or silver. Dual coloured windows and doors are available with METRO SERIES ThermalHEART products. A different colour can be chosen for the exterior and interior surfaces.

■■

Choosing the same colour as the house can give a very clean look, especially in white or cream tones.

Choosing the right glass is important in optimising comfort in your home. The glass options shown focus mainly on double-glazed units of different types. The energy efficiency clause of the New Zealand Building Code (H1) means that double glazing is now the predominant window glass type used in most houses. The greater the light transmission the less heat and fading are controlled.

DOUBLE GLAZING

SAFETY GLASS

Double glazing offers some sound dampening qualities but the performance is critically dependent on the width of the airspace. More important are its thermal adALTHERMs. In the summer, double glazing reduces heat and UV entry while in winter it provides good light levels and reduces outward heat loss. (Double-glazed units are usually referred to as IGU’s - insulated glass units).

All ALTHERM Window Systems are supplied with glass that complies with NZS 4223, the Glazing Standard cited as an acceptable solution in the NZ Building Code.

LAYERED LINES AND THE ABILITY FOR DUAL COLOUR HAVE MADE THE AXIS DOOR A POPULAR CHOICE

axis doors Full length tongue and groove treatments offer a clean, continuous look that have a wide appeal. The attractive layering of lines has real impact. And the two-part construction offers a unique opportunity – a door with a colour to match the interior scheme and a different finish for the outside. Because they’re made from aluminium, Axis Series doors are low on maintenance. They don’t warp, shrink or swell, especially when exposed to wet weather. And their solid, foam-filled construction gives them unbeatable strength and jemmy resistance.

DESIGNERS OR HOMEOWNERS CAN CREATE UNIQUE ENTRANCE DOORS WITH THE LINDO DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

lindo doors The exciting Lindo design technology allows wide flexibility for personalised residential or commercial door treatments. Lindo doors use a system of extruded profiles that combine to create a negative detail feature (a recessed line which borders aluminium planks or inserts). With this capability, designers or homeowners can create door designs and colour schemes that are unique. Formats and colour choices can be themed, contrasting, outrageous or subtle. The Lindo negative detail system is primarily a bordered plank system that fits within Plasma or Latitude door designs.

care & maintenance As with any significant investment it pays to look after your windows and doors. They are a large part of the building cost. Regular and commonsense care and maintenance will extend their life and looks.

CLEANING REGIME ALTHERM products meet all statutory warranty requirements and are fully tested to ensure compliance with the New Zealand Building Code. Nevertheless, some simple steps will aid in retaining their appeal for many years to come. ■■

■■

After house construction is completed it is important that any builder’s debris or dust is cleaned from the inside of sills to ensure that drainage holes are not blocked. This is especially applicable to doorways that may have been in regular use during construction. Cleaning once every three months is recommended for windows and doors. In coastal or industrial environments more frequent washing will be required.

■■

We recommend cleaning with a soft brush with warm water and some mild household detergent. Rinse with fresh water.

■■

Do not use abrasive steel wool, scrapers, scouring liquids or aggressive solvents or thinners. These are likely to damage the surface finish.

■■

The cleaning cycle should include the removal of build-up in door tracks to ensure the maintenance of drainage paths.

INCLUDE HARDWARE Regular maintenance of hardware is recommended. Powder coated hardware should be cleaned regularly with a wet sponge or soft brush, warm water and a mild detergent and rinsed with fresh water. Plated product should be cleaned with a wet sponge without the use of detergent, as the latter can damage plating. Stainless steel hardware needs to be cleaned regularly and care needs to be taken when rust spots occur. Even the highest grades of stainless steel can develop rust spots and these can be removed with a mildly abrasive cleaner and rinsed with fresh water. In cases of heavy corrosion a Scotch-Brite™ hand pad can be used. Specialised 3M® Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish is also available as an alternative cleaning compound.

TAKE CARE WITH GLASS Glass is a very delicate product that can be easily damaged. Care is needed to ensure that scratching does not occur. Only detergents and cleaning solutions which are recommended for glass should be used. Commence cleaning by soaking the glass to loosen dirt. Then using a mild, non-abrasive solution uniformly apply to the glass surfaces. Ensure that the solution is removed by rinsing with water as cleaning residue can permanently mark glass.

SMARTWOOD MAINTENANCE To comply with warranty requirements and to ensure longevity of SMARTWOOD windows and doors the interior timber face should be sealed as soon as possible after installation with an appropriate finish e.g. oiled, varnished, stained or painted, according to manufacturer’s instructions. If the timber is oiled or stained, this treatment will need to be reapplied every few years to maintain the appropriate level of product protection and appearance.
