In the modern world, children are directed to give up their flexibility and become rigid role models. Discuss with reference to the poem earthen goblet This massive world had various famous personalities who were considered as role models by their future generations. Every parent’s wish is to change their children’s life into well-educated and full of richness. But they don’t realize a fact that’s the desire of their children’s mind is unreadable. So, we can't judge others likes and dislikes. This is revealed by the poem “The Earthen Goblet” written by Harindranath Chattopadhyaya which expresses one’s reality of life. Here, he focuses on children’s wishes and how they are destroyed. “I felt vast Feeling if sorrow to be cast Into my present form” First of all, if we consider the clay into a goblet. The clay is a shapeless ugly thing. But on the contrary, the goblet is beautiful and has richness in its shape. It’s only found in residents with money. This design is transformed by the potter. Here, no opinions are obtained from clay about its transformation. This same thing happens in the life of children too. Here, the poet symbolizes clay to children and potter to parents. Most of the parents reject the ideas of children. None of the parents allows children to become farmer, mason, carpenter even clerk. Their point of view is correct that they like their children should be in the next level of them. But, more than this there should be a mind to work in the field decided by their parents. “My past unshapely natural state was best” We should consider another thing that clay can be converted into goblet because of its nature but goblet, as it is rigid, can’t undergo a
