Dear Prospective New NCS Family,

Thank you for considering Northwest Christian School for your family. For more than 45 years, NCS has been committed to our mission to: “Provide a bible-based education of excellence that enables students to develop a Biblical worldview” This letter is designed to give you an overview of the NCS admissions process and policies

If you would like to learn more about NCS, the first step is to submit an online inquiry or application via the NCS Website Once you have submitted an online inquiry or an online application, you will receive an email invitation to connect to Blackbaud ID. Once you have created a log in, you will have access to your NCS enrollment portal so that you can access the Admissions Information webpage that has more information regarding Open House events, campus tours, group tours, placement testing, and more

Step 1: Application & Fee

If you are ready to submit an application for children ages 15 months through 12th grade, for the Traditional On-Campus, Online or Flex programs go to www ncsaz org and select “Apply Now" Create an account and then select the appropriate application, grade level, program and school year for each child Complete the application and digitally submit online with the one-time, non-refundable $50 application fee. Please complete a new student application for each student applicant. Each family will have one NCS Admissions portal for all of their children After submitting the application, you will get a detailed “next-step” email Each parent/guardian will need to have a separate email address to initiate parent-specific log-in credentials.

Step 2: Upload Required Documents to Obtain a Complete Checklist

Once you access your NCS family admissions portal, you will be assigned a checklist You may ignore items marked with a green checkmark as they have been waived, don’t apply to a particular grade or program, or you have already completed the item Items marked “optional” or “if applicable” are not required The required documents needed to complete an application file vary by the child’s age, program, and grade level Please upload all required documents directly into the student’s enrollment checklist

Step 3: Placement Testing (By Invite Only)

Placement testing for current and future grades K-9th, is by invitation only Not all applicants will be invited to test based on space and other factors If testing is requested, the Admissions Team will reach out to you There is a one-time, non-refundable testing fee of $30

Step 4: Family Interview

Once the application file is complete with all required documents and the placement testing results received (testing by invitation only), the file will be reviewed If approved and space appears to be clearing in your child’s grade, the respective secretary will then reach out to you to schedule a family interview with the Principal. A family interview does not guarantee enrollment or that space will clear NCS does not schedule interviews for Online or Flex students The family interview requires that both the student and parents attend

Step 5: Acceptance and Enrollment

Acceptance letters are sent out beginning in March and throughout the spring and summer as openings emerge Wait lists are possible in some grades, even after an interview has been completed Once an acceptance letter is received, a family has 10 business days to accept the offer to enroll by submitting the annual registration fee and enrollment agreement via their blackbaud portal

May God bless you as you seek a Christ-centered education of excellence for your family I am truly blessed to serve you and look forward to getting to know you in the months ahead.

Joyfully Serving Him,

HolliBarnes

*NCS has more qualified applicants each year than openings in most grades and cannot guarantee enrollment or waitlist position by date of application. NCS considers many factors when accepting new students including: church/community involvement, written parent testimony, doctrinal/parent agreement, academic records, prior teacher and NCS faculty recommendations, family size, alumni status, sibling enrollment status, NCS employee status, application completeness, family interview, placement testing, classroom space, student conduct, and attendance records.

Qualified students that remain on the waitlist in August may have an opportunity to enroll during the school year should an opening occur. Waitlisted applications are not automatically carried over into the following school year and must be renewed by completing the Enrollment Interest Survey sent to portals in September of each year. If you did not receive a survey, send a request via your NCS portal to the Admissions Team A prior year waitlist status does not guarantee enrollment the following year Students with D/F grades on a recent report card or conduct infractions may need to wait one full year to become eligible for enrollment Students with IEP/504 plans should upload a copy into the enrollment portal for an NCS Principal to review before applying to the school NCS may not be able to serve all IEP/504 accommodations

TO REQUEST INFORMATION OR TO SUBMIT A NEW STUDENT APPLICATION: Visit the NCS website and select “Admissions” and then “Inquire or Apply Now” Online inquiries and applicants will be sent an email with next-step instructions to access a family enrollment portal The admissions process includes several steps that are completely portal based, paperless, and parent-driven This portal will include an enrollment checklist for each student applicant and will list the admissions steps including: document uploads, digital recommendation links, admission events, and placement testing requirements for K-9th grade (by invitation only)

Doctrinal Statement

• We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, infallible and supernaturally inspired, so that it is inerrant in the original manuscripts and preserved by God in its verbal, plenary inspiration, so that it is a divinely authoritative standard for every age and every life. This doctrinal statement does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs as that we believe that the Bible serves as the sole and final authority concerning all matters pertaining to truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind.

• We believe that the Godhead exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God.

• We believe in God as absolute and sole creator of the universe, and that creation was by divine decree, not through evolutionary process.

• We believe that God, by His sovereign choice and out of love for men, sent Christ into the world to save sinners.

• We believe that Jesus Christ in the flesh was both God and man, that He was born of a virgin and that He lived a sinless life, in which He taught and did mighty works with signs and wonders exactly as revealed in the four Gospels, that He was crucified, died as a penalty for our sin and was raised from the dead bodily on the third day. Later, He ascended to the Father's right hand where He is Head of the Church and intercedes for believers, and from where He is coming again personally, bodily, visibly to the earth to set up His millennial kingdom.

• We believe that since in His death, by His shed blood, the Lord Jesus Christ made a perfect atonement for sin, redeeming us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us – men are saved, justified on the simple and single ground of the shed blood.

• We believe that such salvation with its forgiveness of sins, imparts a new nature and hope of eternal life, is entirely apart from good works, baptism, church membership or man's effort and is a pure grace.

• We believe that a true believer is eternally secure, that he cannot lose his salvation, but that sin may interrupt the joy of his fellowship with God and bring the loving discipline of his Heavenly Father.

• We believe that all who receive Christ become joint-heirs with Christ, and at death, their spirits depart to be with Christ in conscious blessedness, and at the rapture their bodies will be raised to the likeness of the body of His glory and dwell forever in His divine presence.

• We believe that it is the goal of every Christian to grow in spiritual maturity through obedience to the Word of God and the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Northwest Christian School Doctrinal Statement (last revision: August 1, 2019)

STATEMENT OF FAITH

(continued)

• We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person, is God and possesses all the divine attributes. He indwells all believers, baptizes and seals all believers at the moment of their salvation, and fills them in response to confession of sin and yieldedness.

• We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. We believe that human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions including pre-born babies, the aged, the physical or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are, therefore, called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Psalm 139)

• We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as a male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27) We believe that rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

• We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25) We believe that the institution of marriage is established in scripture as an ordinance that points the world to the relationship which God desires for His church. (Eph 5:25-27; Rev 19:7-9; Rev 21:2-9; Isaiah 54:5)

• We believe marriage is ordained of God and is a spiritual and physical union in which a man and a woman are joined by God to live together as one. (Genesis 2:24; Mark 10:7) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

• We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgenderism, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex and identity. (Genesis 2:24; Genesis 19:5, 13; Genesis 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1, 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 13:4)

• We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Northwest Christian School as an extension of the Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the community, it is imperative that all parents and guardians of enrolled students at Northwest Christian School and all persons that are employed by or volunteer with Northwest Christian School in any capacity, agree to and abide by this doctrinal statement. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1Thess 5:22)

Northwest Christian School Parental Responsibility Agreement

1. We understand the Bible teaches us that, as parents, we are responsible for the education of our children, and it is our desire that Northwest Christian School assist us in this responsibility. We agree to support the school faculty and staff as they assist us in educating our child.

2. We invest authority in the school to discipline our child when necessary. We further agree that we will cooperate and discipline our child in the home as needed (Proverbs 13:24). We will also read the school discipline policy that is in the student handbook.

3. We pledge our fullest cooperation to keep doctrinal controversy and denominationalism out of the school at all times.

4. We understand that the parents are the natural leaders of their families. Children will follow if parents give strong Christ-honoring leadership. We are committed to work hand in hand with NCS in order “to train up our child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6).

5. We understand that the school exists to support the values of the Christian home. Our home is committed to upholding strong biblical standards of lifestyle, including commitment to and involvement with a local church.

6. We understand that our failure to report psychiatric counseling, any prescribed program of medication, or involvement with juvenile authorities during the past three years may be cause for immediate dismissal.

7. We agree to support the school with our prayers and with a positive attitude. Complaints or negative comments will be shared only with the teacher, administrator, or person involved, and not with our child or other people, following the Matthew 18 principle.

8. We understand that the school reserves the right to dismiss any student who does not:

a. Respect and observe spiritual and/or behavioral standards.

b. Cooperate with our educational goals.

c. Conform to the dress and hair code policy.

9. We understand that if at any time the school determines, in its sole discretion that our actions do not support the ministry, or reflect a lack of cooperation and commitment to the home and school working together, the school has the right to request withdrawal of the student.

10. We understand the school retains the right to refuse admission to or to remove from enrollment any student whose custodial parent is in cohabitation or a same-sex relationship.

11. We give permission for our child to go on field trips arranged by the teacher and approved by the administration. The educational trips will be properly supervised, and our family insurance program will cover our child. We will not hold the school, administration, or faculty responsible in case of accident. Notification will be given us prior to each field trip.

12. We understand that in the event our child damages school property, assessments will be made to cover these damages, including breakage of windows and abuse of other personal property.

13. We understand that tuition will be divided into eleven monthly payments. The first payment is due August 1, and on the first day of each of the following ten months. The last payment is due on June 1. Any payment received after the seventh day of the month will be considered late, and our account will be assessed a $25 late charge. When an account becomes more than 60 days past due, the student will not be allowed to attend class until the account is brought current.

14. We understand that graduating seniors must make their final tuition payment before participating in graduation ceremonies.

EXTENDED CARE INFORMATION

Extended Care

Extended Care is designed for children currently registered at NCS who need additional care outside of the regular school day. This service is provided for students in early education, 15 months through fifth grade at NCS. Extended Care teachers are background checked and provide a safe and less structured environment for our before and after school program.

Extended Care is approved based on availability and requires specific forms to be filled out and submitted before attendance. Prior approval must be obtained through the Early Education office for each attended day. Extended Care is not designed to be a holding place for late pick-ups, but rather a class for parents who need additional care in the morning/afternoon. Students who are not enrolled in After Care and are not picked up on time will be transferred to Extended Care and charged a late pickup fee of $25.

If you are signing up for Extended Care on a regular basis, you will be charged $7.00 an hour for your scheduled hours. Extended Care may be used on an occasional drop-in basis, depending on space availability, at $7.50 an hour. All requests for occasional care must be pre-approved on a daily basis through the Early Education office.

Early Education Extended Care Hours (Mini Crusaders, Preschool, Kindergarten)

Extended Care is available on school days from 7:30am to the start of class and/or dismissal through 5:30pm. Students enrolled in Early Education must fill out a mandatory Emergency Card before attending their first day of extended care

Early Education Mandatory Emergency Card: For Mini Crusaders, Preschool, and Kindergarten students, the State of Arizona requires that the State's Blue Emergency Card be filled out by a parent or legal guardian annually. These Blue Cards will only be accepted by the Early Education office to ensure compliance to all form details. No child may attend until a Blue Card is received. Elementary Students (1st - 5th grade) do not need a Blue Card.

Elementary Extended Care (1st - 5th Grade):

Extended Care is available on school days from dismissal through 5:30pm..

Sign-In/Out Procedure: Each child must be signed in and out digitally on the teacher’s iPad for Extended Care A digital system (Procare) will automatically calculate your balance based on your sign-in/out times. However, you must still physically sign in and out on the iPad with a first initial and full last name. If your child is being dropped off by their teacher after school, the teacher will sign the child in. NCS will automatically bill accounts through 5:30pm each time and for each child when a physical sign-out entry is missing

Galileo Testing at All

Levels

Galileo is an educational assessment that is used to gauge student growth throughout the year and measure individual student proficiency It is based on Arizona State Standards and is aligned to AzMERIT proficiency cut scores. Galileo allows us to gauge student mastery across all math and ELA standards as well as predict how our students compare to public schools across the nation. Galileo gives teachers the opportunity to see what students come into the year knowing with a pre-test. These benchmark assessments help teachers identify the standards that have been mastered, allowing them to move through the content quicker or supplement content for a deeper dive. It also allows them to focus on skills students are missing.

NCS Online

NCS Online students participate in Galileo testing at all levels.

DIBELS 8

We use DIBELS 8 primarily in our K-2 classes to monitor the development of reading and literacy skills DIBELS measures reading outcomes of individual students and provides grade level feedback for teachers to inform instruction and provide targeted interventions DIBELS breaks students into four categories, Negligible Risk, Minimal Risk, Some Risk, and At Risk and we use that data to further support students in 3-5th grade

Middle School

Pre-ACT

In 8th grade students will begin taking the Pre-ACT Pre-ACT is a predictor of how students will do on the ACT, while allowing students to practice questions similar to what they will see on the test

High School

Pre-ACT PSAT

1st-5thGrade

*What a Percentile Rank means for a Galileo DL Score:

Norm Referenced: A Galileo percentile rank is a norm-referenced score, meaning it compares a student's score to a larger group

Interpretation: A percentile of 75, for example, means the student's score was equal to or better than 75% of the students in that comparison group

High school students sit for the PSAT in the Fall of their Junior year The PSAT-NMSQT is one additional way to best prepare them for the ACT or SAT The PSAT is highly relevant to future potential as they focus on the skills and knowledge learned in high school and provide insight for college success Students receive unique SAT practice recommendations, an option to show colleges and universities that students want to connect with them, and assess skill levels and readiness for college and career The NMSQT or National Merit Scholarship is awarded to the highest achieving test scorers in the nation and can provide scholarship money and a competitive edge on some college applications. NCS had three NMSQT Commended students in 2021, 1 NMSQT Finalist in 2022 and 3 Commended students in 2023.

ASVAB

The ASVAB is a career assessment that helps students know possible career paths they may be suited for ACT

ACT is given to every Junior at NCS with about 50% of seniors opting to take it again their 12th grade year. The ACT allows us to see how our students compare to the state and national averages, as well as get a picture of how they grew in high school from the Pre-ACT to the ACT. Our graduating seniors of 22-23 had a composite average of 23.

The Sutton Project, now the largest missions learning project on campus, epitomizes our mission fulfillment for all students as we meet the needs of those in our surrounding community Through The Sutton Project we now provide 1600 Thanksgiving meal boxes for families at 16 different elementary schools across three districts These food boxes serve as a sign of hope to those in a broken and needy community We also partner with the local church to provide within the boxes an invitation to join their church community Early Education and Elementary students participate by collecting/donating canned goods for the meal boxes. Middle School and High School students collect/donate money to go towards turkey vouchers that are provided within each box. At the end of the campaign, every student campus-wide participates in a ‘packing’ event to compile the various components of each box in an assembly-line setting. This is one of the best days on campus! High School Student Council then delivers and unloads the completed Thanksgiving meal boxes to each school!

Christmas Gifts

As we wrap up our Thanksgiving meal boxes, we immediately turn our attention to Christmas The NCS community provides over 1200 Christmas gifts that are delivered to students at 3 elementary schools These schools serve a significant number of refugees and their families NCS high school students experience the joy of delivering these gifts to the students of these schools and have the opportunity to see our mission in action as we meet the needs of those less fortunate than us

Sutton Game Day

Our Middle School Student Council hosts 3rd grade students from JB Sutton on our campus for ‘Game Day’ NCS middle school students enjoy a day of fun and opportunities to create community with our friends from Sutton!

High School Serve Day

Once per semester, our high school students participate in a ‘Serve Day’ wherein they are sent all across the state to serve the community in various ways Each semester, a group of NCS high school students head to JB Sutton Elementary to serve the school and meet the needs of their community This looks like playing, reading to classes, tutoring and more!

According to Matthew 25:35-40, we are called to feed and clothe the needy. This project is a means by which our student body can come to understand that scriptural principle personally.

NCS Mission Trips

NCS plans and provides four amazing international mission trip opportunities for several reasons, the biggest being to pursue the mission of NCS by "Enabling students to develop a Biblical worldview and prepare them to fulfill their God-ordained role in the home, the church, their country, and the world."

We see the theology students learn at NCS and in their churches becoming reality as they take what they have learned and put it into practice. We do this by coming alongside rooted organizations to meet tangible needs and build meaningful relationships!

Kids Kingdom in Imuris, Sonora, Mexico

NCS has developed a beautiful relationship with Kids Kingdom Orphanage in Imuris, Sonora, Mexico over the last 14+ years Each summer, NCS students serve the community of Imuris and Kids Kingdom Orphanage through preparing meals, teaching English and giving love away freely to kids in Imuris for 7 days! Students put on two VBS programs, as well as being the Light of Jesus to some sweet people at a sweet place! Throughout the school year, NCS sends students and staff to Kids Kingdom in Imuris for weekend trips 5-7 times. Our students have developed incredible relationships with their friends at Kids Kingdom and return many times throughout the year!

HOPE Center in Pavas, Costa Rica

NCS students travel to Pavas, Costa Rica to help the team at the HOPE center in their mission of Rescue and Transformation. They rescue children and families for severe hunger and poverty, and transform them with the Gospel and the Hope that comes with life in Christ. Our students help serve by doing work projects to improve their community, and also put on a week long camp for 5th and 6th graders

City of Joy Rwanda in Rwanda, Africa

NCS Students and staff travel to the City of Joy Christian School in Rwanda to help serve for 10 days. NCS students have the opportunity to head to Mexico to serve the community of Rocky Point by coming along side a family and helping in the construction of their new home! We partner with 1Mission to make this trip happen. We also send a group of alumni every year to participate in a 1Mission trip

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:17-20

Ways You Can Afford a Christian Education 2025-2026

Arizona offers two excellent School Choice programs to help families afford a Christian education: the Private School Tax Credit and the Universal ESA. These valuable options are widely used by families at Northwest Christian School to make a quality Christian education more accessible

PRIVATE SCHOOL TUITION TAX CREDITS

1) Individual and Switcher Programs

An Arizona resident for 2025, may donate up to $3,062 (for married taxpayers filing a joint tax return) or $1,535 (for single taxpayers and married couples filing separately) to a private school tuition tax credit organization or STO (up to their Arizona State tax liability)

Many STO’s allow donors to recommend a student for STO consideration of an award by listing a student name and anticipated school on the application Donors can take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their Arizona state tax return for that tax year All donations must be received before April 15th in order to receive a tax credit for the previous year. You cannot recommend your own child, and you must re-apply every year by the organization’s stated deadline The guidelines and prerequisites of awards are based on several factors

Review the “STO Tax Credits At A Glance” handout to determine your eligibility It may be possible for both new NCS families, current NCS families, homeschool families, and those families moving to Arizona to qualify for “switcher” funding (also known as PLUS or Overflow) in certain circumstances Additional verification paperwork may be required to verify eligibility for “switcher” funding Out-of-state donors are welcome to make a donation to an STO, but they will not receive a tax credit Although there are 80+ individual Arizona tax credit organizations in Arizona, NCS works with a specific group of STO’s and the list changes annually. Each STO has their own timeline and application process Families seeking tuition assistance are encouraged to apply to more than one organization Several are listed below

2)

Low Income Corporate

Families may apply for corporate tax dollars if your student is entering kindergarten at NCS or is a 1st-12th grade student transferring to NCS from an AZ school (public, charter, or Arizona-funded on-line program), or is a child of an active military guardian, or received a prior corporate or individual tax credit scholarship in the prior school year while being continually enrolled at a private school Your income must not exceed 185% of the income limit to qualify a child for reduced lunches under the National School Lunch and School Act (see chart below)

Applying early is advantageous as most applications are due in mid-late spring prior to the school year that begins in August NCS families who are connected with an Arizona C-Corp or S-Corp are invited to learn more about making a corporate tax credit donation

There are 80+ Arizona Tax Credit Organizations that process corporate tuition scholarships and families are encouraged to seek out the various organizations below to learn more about corporate scholarship opportunities Current NCS families that meet the financial “means test” AND receive a corporate scholarship, may become eligible for Switcher/Overflow/PLUS individual tax credits in the following school-year. Current NCS families that have received a prior tuition assistance award in any current year, and have been consistently enrolled in an AZ private school, may qualify for corporate tuition assistance if income meets the income guidelines For more information, income limit charts, verification forms and new and renewal applications and deadlines go to:

3) Displaced or Disabled Student Corporate (Lexie’s Law)

If your child has a special need or was a ward of the State at any time, and was adopted out of the State system, you may be eligible for awards. Contact APESF: www.apesf.org or ALF: www.arizonaleader.org

4) Early Education/Preschool (ages 1-5)

Private School Tax credits are for K-12 students only. Arizona offers several scholarship programs for early education/child care for low-income families Funds are limited www azftfscholarships org (Quality First Scholarships); parent helpline: 602-240-6324; or call NCS Early Ed Center azed.gov/esa (Preschoolers w/an IEP/504/MET/Foster Care or an NCS sibling on ESA in K-12) 602-364-1969

5) Kindergarten

Tax credits may be “banked” for an upcoming kindergarten student up to 8-12 months prior to the start of kindergarten, depending on the policies of the STO There are more scholarship opportunities for incoming kindergarten students than at any other point Receiving a tuition assistance award in ANY amount during the kindergarten school year is critical in securing a “switcher” status through 12th grade and in gaining eligibility for low-income corporate scholarships in a future year. Scheduling a personal consultation with the NCS admissions department before March of your student’s PreK year is advised - scroll down to schedule!

UNIVERSAL EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNT (ESA)

This scholarship was expanded in the fall of 2022 (Universal ESA) to serve ALL Arizona children that are entering a private or homeschool for grades K-12. Preschool aged children and children in grades K-12 with an IEP/504/MET plan may still qualify at a higher level of funding under the original ESA Recipients of the ESA cannot combine their award with any other type of tuition support, including tax credits, in the same fiscal year for the same student To apply, go to Azed gov/esa or click here or call 602-364-1969 For the general ESA scholarship application meant to support school choice, click here Answers to frequently asked questions about the general ESA scholarship can be found here.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

ESA VS. PRIVATE SCHOOL TAX CREDIT

OVERVIEW

Arizona offers two excellent School Choice programs to help families afford a Christian education: the Private School Tax Credit and the Universal ESA. These valuable options are widely used by families at Northwest Christian School to make a quality Christian education more accessible Explore the details of both programs here, and find the resources you need to determine which one is the best fit for your family

PRIVATE SCHOOL TAX CREDIT

OVERVIEW

The Arizona School Tuition Organization (STO) program is a school choice option that allows Arizona taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income tax liability to support private school tuition for eligible students. This initiative provides financial assistance to students who attend private schools by using tax credits rather than state funds. The Arizona tax credit system incentivizes taxpayers to contribute to private school tuition funds. By donating to an STO, individuals or corporations can reduce their Arizona state tax bill. This allows taxpayers to effectively "redirect" their tax dollars to support educational opportunities that align with their preferences, without spending extra money out of pocket.

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility varies for each type of Private School Tax Credit. Learn more on the NCS Website under Admissions > Tuition Assistance.

FUNDING AMOUNT

There is potential for the full cost of tuition to be covered through the Private School Tax Credit program. Students can receive a combination of different types of tax credits in order to fully cover the tuition amount.

CONSIDERATIONS

You cannot use both ESA and receive money from STO’s, you must choose one option or the other.

Your total, combined award amount is unlimited meaning you can combine awards from multiple STO sources. This means you have the potential to get the full tuition amount covered.

Unused individual tax credits can carry over to future years if your results exceed the cost of tuition for the year.

You can "Bank" tax credits (not corporate) for future use while using ESA.

You can switch off every other year using ESA and then Tax Credits in order to allow your "Bank" of tax credits to build up.

USING PRIVATE SCHOOL TAX CREDITS FOR TUITION & FEES AT NCS

Family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc allocate their state tax liability to your student through an STO in return the funds can be applied to your students tuition.

Applications for the upcoming school year begin opening in January. Each STO has their own timeline.

If you are corporate qualifying we highly recommend you apply to all of the STO's on our list.

AAA & AOA are great corporate options as they typically award at the corporate maximum each year (currently $6,300 K-8, $8,100 9-12) and can be stacked with other corporate awards and tax credits. Families are responsible for the balance of tuition not covered by STO/Tax credit funds.

UNIVERSAL ESA

OVERVIEW

The Arizona Universal Education Savings Account (ESA) program, which was implemented in 2022, is a school choice initiative that allows all Arizona K-12 students, regardless of income or disability status, to receive state funds to use for a variety of educational expenses. These funds can be used for private school tuition, tutoring, special education services, online learning, college savings, and other approved educational costs.

ELIGIBILITY

The Universal ESA program is open to all Arizona students, including those currently enrolled in public, private, charter, or homeschool settings. Students who are currently enrolled in public schools can apply to receive an ESA, which provides them with funds to attend a private school or to pursue alternative educational options. There are no income restrictions, and any student who is a resident of Arizona is eligible to apply.

FUNDING AMOUNT

The amount of funding available to each student is based on the state's per-pupil funding for public schools. The funds are deposited into an individual education savings account (ESA) for each student, which can be accessed through a designated online portal. Students may receive on average, anywhere between $7,000-$7,500 annually. Kindergarten students receive closer to $4,000.

CONSIDERATIONS

You cannot use both ESA and receive money from STO’s, you must choose one option or the other.

If you choose to use ESA, you are guaranteed to receive money, however in most cases, it will not cover the full cost of tuition. You can switch off every other year using ESA and then Tax Credits in order to allow your "Bank" of tax credits to build up.

USING ESA FOR TUITION & FEES AT NCS

First, apply for the Universal ESA by visiting the website and filling out the application. It currently takes approximately 60 days to receive an approval from the state and determine how much you are eligible to receive. Once approved, monies will be dispersed in your ESA account quarterly: May, April, June, July. You will be expected to pay monthly tuition at NCS, so you must be on top of your payments. To pay NCS, you must login to your ESA portal and distribute the funds to NCS on a monthly basis.

2025-2026 STUDENT APPLICANT GUIDE

Here at Arizona Tuition Organization (AZTO), our mission is simple, to make Christian Education affordable and accessible so that participating students can impact the world. AZTO is a state certified 501c(3) School Tuition Organization (STO) that focuses on supporting Christian Education in Arizona. Since 2004, AZTO has issued over $38 Million in tuition awards to students attending our partner schools through Arizona’s Private School Tuition Tax Credit Program. AZTO distributes approximately 92% of all donations. Please visit azto.org for full program details.

How it Works

Applying

• AZTO invites you to apply for your student at azto.org. Create a Student Portal account for your family. Then, apply for one or more of your students. The online application is valid for both the Individual and Corporate Credit Programs. All participating students must apply each school year.

• AZTO’s 2025-2026 Application becomes available on March 1st, 2025. We recommend applying before the start of the school year to be eligible for AZTO’s largest award cycles.

• If your new 2025-2026 Kindergarten or Transfer student will be participating with donor recommendations prior to March 1st, 2025, please complete AZTO’s Pre-Apply to register your student. After this date, complete the new school year application.

• Once your student’s application has been approved for participation, you are ready to spread the word. You may promote this program to your network of family and friends, anyone who pays Arizona income taxes.

• You can create a custom Family Landing Page on AZTO’s Student Portal that can be shared via social media, text, or email. More resources, a recorded tax credit workshop, brochures, a promotion video, and a Facebook link may also be found at azto.org.

• Arizona Individual taxpayers may make a recommended donation to AZTO suggesting your student for a tuition award. Donations are accepted online at azto.org or by mail with a Donation Form.

• Once AZTO approves the recommended donation for your student, the award will be issued to the school at the next award cycle. Award details can be found in their Student Portal.

Timeline for Award Cycles

• Tuition Grants are defined as board approved tuition awards from donor recommendations. These awards are issued four times throughout the school year.

• Tuition Scholarships are heavily focused on financial need, program eligibility, and special circumstances. Current school year scholarships are issued twice a year.

Eligibility and Restrictions

• Original Credit Program is open to all K-12 students.
