What should I say?
For every twelve hours worked, you are entitled to two 30 minute crib breaks, and you should never be assigned to any jobs lower than a Priority 1 (including 2i cases) in your crib window.
“We would like to assist, however the Crib Break Operating Procedure and Dispatch Work Instruction 6.02 Paramedic Crib Breaks both state that our crib should not be interrupted or missed due to any job that is not a Priority 1. We request to crib at our home station.”
You should only be cribbed away if it would take an excessive amount of time to return to your home station. You should never be cribbed away without the dispatcher notifying you.
“Thank you for the offer, however our home made meals are refrigerated at our home station. We can return to our home station in reasonable time and would prefer to do so to access our meals.”
You should never be pressured to crib on air if you do not elect to.
“As we have been directed to crib away and cannot access our home made meals we need to find the healthiest option available to us before beginning our crib.”
