The AOS school-wide priority for the 20222023 school year was Serving Others Together. The AOS school-wide priority for the 2022-2023 school year was Serving Others Together. Following in Christ’s footsteps, our students sought new ways to serve others through special projects, donation drives, and fundraisers. The spirit of giving was palpable as you walked through the hallways of AOS, with students, faculty, and parents engaged in new ways to help the community around us and beyond. Philanthropic giving is a long-standing tradition at AOS and is a perfect example of the many ways in which we serve others together. For the second year in a row, the Annual Fund campaign raised over $1 million for our school. In addition to record-breaking donations to our annual fund, parent participation grew to 89 percent and faculty and staff participation once again reached 100 percent. We all agree that AOS is a special environment and we are unique in many ways. The strong culture of philanthropy in our community is essential to this uniqueness, as it provides us with the tools and resources we need to bring out the best in our students. The impact you make by donating to AOS is immeasurable. AOS students will grow up to lead various industries and causes - and you have aided our talented faculty and staff in providing our future leaders with an education that will lead to spiritual, physical, emotional, academic, and social growth. A WORD FROM

THE BOARD CHAIR Dear AOS Family, This summer our family visited the Monastery of Saint Herakleidios in Cyprus. It is a place of reflection and reverence. It is also symbolic of hope, creation, and renewal. Founded in 400 AD, the Monastery’s spiritual inspiration has endured for over one thousand years. The nuns who serve the Monastery now welcome visitors with soft-spoken kindness. In the heat of the day, they generously offer cool refreshments and heart-felt blessings of encouragement. It reminds me that the most enduring missions foster a sense of love, giving, and faith. I cannot think of three better words to describe our AOS community. Last year we returned to a beautifully renovated middle school space. Sunlight now brightens the hallways, streaming in through glass partitions in the new classroom walls. The acoustics have been enhanced with fresh carpet and speciallydesigned stairwell decorations, along with an array of other enhancements. The renovation was fully completed this summer with a refreshed facade and middle-school entryway, welcoming our students back to an even more inspiring place to learn. I want to specifically recognize Kevin Cokinos and Mark Santikos, co-chairs of the Board’s Facilities Committee, and Bryant Richardson, Director of Finance and Operations, for their effort and leadership shepherding this project through to its very successful conclusion. These traditions and accomplishments are possible only with the boundless energy of our parent volunteers, teachers, and administration. They also depend on the committed financial support of our community. This year the Annual Fund set a new fundraising record in support of extraordinary programs for our students and faculty. AJ and

Siobhan Gracely, our Annual Fund Committee Chairs, working closely with Jill Buja and the Advancement team deserve an enthusiastic round of applause! Thank you to all who gave so generously! Looking ahead, we will continue to build on AOS’ exceptional foundation as we embark on an exciting phase of campus development to provide a magnificent new athletics and arts facility for the school. This facility will provide a larger gymnasium, flexible theater space, additional classrooms, and more. It will be a place for further discovery, creativity, expression, and cheering! This was my first year serving as Board Chair and I would like to thank Fr. Michael, Dr. Fragomeni, and all of our Trustees for their support and devotion to the school. I am especially grateful to our trustees who will be finishing their board service this year: Kris McGee, Tom McGee, and Mark Santikos. Their commitment, energy, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. I would especially like to recognize Kris, whose exemplary leadership during her four years as Board Chair helped guide the school’s vision and mission so gracefully through the Covid pandemic, and helped set the foundation for our campaign toward the new athletic and arts space. Her dedication to AOS has transformed our community and I am immensely appreciative of her support and mentorship. The physical structures of the Monastery of Saint Herakleidios have been destroyed and rebuilt over its history, yet its spirit has always endured. The current church, renovated roughly sixty years ago and standing upon ancient foundations, is symbolic for me of AOS, its development, and its steadfast mission. Our school continues to evolve as we energize its community, campus, and curriculum in service of the academic and spiritual development of our student body. Many blessings are ahead. AOS YES!

THE PARENT TEACHER CLUB PRESIDENT

On behalf of the Parent Teacher Club (PTC), I express my heartfelt gratitude for an incredible 2022-23 year. The “magic of AOS” was very much alive and felt across the special events and activities. The PTC accomplished great things, all made possible through the collaboration and hard work of dedicated parents, faculty and staff. As we reflect on the past year, I am so proud and amazed at all that was accomplished. We kicked off the year with E Phili Mas welcoming new families to AOS with popsicle parties, parent coffees and playdates. Everyone enjoyed being together at the record breaking Back to School Breakfast, which for some may have been the first time experiencing the AOS community. This fall we enjoyed “The California Readin’ Book Fair,” transforming the gym into a retro oasis and continuing the beloved tradition of enjoying Mrs. Nikkie’s delicious spaghetti at the Spaghetti Dinner. In February, we celebrated and showered our amazing teachers, administrators and staff with love during Faculty and Staff Appreciation Week. The EIKON Art Show was a success and students were excited to showcase

artwork and participate in a community art project. We rounded out the spring with the not-to-be missed Olympics which carried out Coach Carr’s final theme of “Going for the Gold” and continued the traditions she began decades ago. AOS is incredibly fortunate to have such an exceptional parent and volunteer community. In addition to the large events, over 20 committees, room parents and grade level representatives worked tirelessly behind the scenes throughout the year. These efforts helped support our children and faculty and staff in meaningful ways. My family has been blessed to be part of the AOS community the past seven years (and counting). We do not take for granted how lucky we are to be part of such a kind, loving and caring community. I am thankful and grateful for having had the opportunity to serve as the PTC President.
