Hello! I'm Anna Zaghis, and I am pursuing a High National Diploma in Interior Design, with my focus directed towards obtaining a BTEC certification. I'm deeply passionate about creating spaces that seamlessly blend style and functionality. This passion drives me to constantly seek innovative and visually captivating design solutions.
I have a natural aptitude for technology and possess strong proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Photoshop, enabling me to translate my design visions into precise plans.
In my design projects, I have a strong inclination towards using natural materials and sustainable practices. I believe that environmentally conscious design not only benefits our planet but also enhances the quality of spaces we create. I have a knack for custom-made furnishings and features, ensuring that each design is uniquely tailored to its purpose.

STUDIO APARTMENT IN LONDON
Mr. Yorke bought an apartment for his daughter to live while she is in college.
The design of the interior of the apartment needs to maximises the available space and uses it effectively. It’s an open plan, multi-functional space that will allow self-catering, seating, sleeping, studying, relaxing and storage. The ceiling height is 4400 mm, and allows a mezzanine floor.
The finished design should be bright, natural, comfortable and suitable for a student.

Space Planning
1. This is the initial space planning for the open plan studio apartment. All the areas are flowing together for a comfortable and functional living.

2. This is the space planning for the mezzanine floor. Where I placed the bedroom (private area).

Initial rendered floorplan

I kept a calm colour scheme and natural materials. Light and warm wood with sage green accent, to create a relaxing and comfortable space.

SW3 KITCHEN DESIGN
Georgina and Ian are a professional couple with well-established careers that can work from home a few days a week. They enjoy traveling, entertaining, cooking and the outdoors. Their children, a boy and a girl, are both in their teens with busy social and sporting calendars.
They need a new design for their large kitchen for the house that they have bought. The space should be both functional and comfortable for a family of four people, easy to mantain, a space to hang out and cook together and with a large larder unit included in the design.

The kitchen is the heart of the house, where the family meets together. We wanted to deliver a functional space, easy to move around, where the whole family can stay together and practise different activities in a harmonious space.
The inspiration for this project was to combine elegance and luxury with natural and warmth concepts. To create a practical and stylish kitchen, ideal for a family who wants to live and enjoy the space together.
Space Planning and Materials

Material Selection

The area has been thought of as an open kitchen with the main activities of cooking and preparation placed on the south wall, near the large window and therefore natural light and, the larder on the north wall, next to the entrance to make easier the unpack of groceries, with an island in the middle to help all activities, easy to move around it. The island has a small sink on it to facilitate the main activities of storage, preparation and cooking, grouping them on the left side of the space, and avoid to make extra mile to use the other sink, which has be design for the main washing and cleaning, especially of the dishes from the breakfast bar and dining room.
FLOOR PLAN

Wooden shaker style in white for the cabinetry and grey for the island, with sleek black metal handles. The plywood is incredibly stable and solid, ideal with the heavy quartz worktop and the shaker classic style adds a warm and sophisticated look at the final design.

Linear light in wood and black metal by AlexAllen Studio. To complement the design with an elegant but outstanding light on the top of the kitchen island. Latest technology, large induction hob with 5/6 burner by Miele. Induction has sleek look, easier to clean, and it is safer to use, perfect for a large family who love to cook together.

Smart-tech appliances by Indesit. To reinforce the luxurious concept, built in microwave and oven with 11 cooking functions and EcoClean steam element.

Elegant barstool by Canetti, upholstered in a premium faux leather, with brushed metal legs. An element to create a striking look that is also comfortable.

The Larder Design

I designed a custom larder unit that seamlessly integrates with the overall kitchen design. It mirrors the aesthetics and materials of the cabinetry, featuring the same white wooden shaker-style doors and sleek black metal bar handles. While the top units and fridge/freezer doors open conventionally, the larder and wine bar units are equipped with pocket doors. These innovative doors can be discreetly slid open, creating additional space to manoeuvre around the kitchen island when needed.

What sets these shelves apart is their thoughtful design with varying heights. This strategic arrangement ensures maximum functionality, with the highest shelf also being the most easily accessible. This feature allows you to store a wide range of goods, including those packaged in bulk or with taller dimensions, while still providing e ff ortless access to them.

Additionally, the inclusion of a marble shelf is a notable advantage. Marble, being a natural stone, maintains a temperature below room temperature, making it an ideal surface for storing items like butter and eggs, which benefit from a slightly cooler environment. To store long-term provisions, the higher shelves offer the perfect solution.

The sleeping area will positioned in the niche of the west wall. On the opposing side of the room, the dressing table has been strategically placed next to the entrance, complemented by the addition of a freestanding mirror opposite it, adjacent to the bathroom door. This arrangement optimises the "getting ready" area by situating it conveniently close to both the bathroom and closet.

THE PINK BATHROOM
The National Design Museum is currently organizing an interior design competition centered around the creation of a design concept for a permanent exhibition within one of its museum spaces.
The theme of this competition is ‘The impact of climate change for the future of art, design, and media’. It seeks to explore how design plays a prime role in creating sustainable lifestyles that are good for environmental well-being. The competition encourages designers to address the evolving demands of clients who are increasingly seeking environmentally friendly designs. This involves the integration of sustainable materials, practices, and technologies.
The design concept revolves around an environmentally friendly bathroom that embraces the use of recycled plastic materials to promote resource conservation, reduce waste, and create a stylish and functional space. The primary objective of this design is to demonstrate to the public the practicality of recycling and reimagining aesthetically pleasing bathroom settings.
Through the innovative use of recycled plastics, this concept aspires to revolutionise conventional bathroom design while leaving a beneficial imprint on the environment.

I aimed to maximise the utilisation of the chosen materials, resulting in a predominantly custom-designed interior. Elements such as the basin, countertop, bathtub, and feature walls are all bespoke creations.

In terms of colour, I opted for shades of pink, which are uncommon choices for a bathroom. This deliberate selection aims to create a unique and memorable experience for the public, leaving a lasting impression from the exhibition.
The recycled plastic content in the bathroom fi xtures and accessories will be specify on a tag with a QR code, allowing users to make informed choices and appreciate the environmental impact of the selections.

The Design Selection

To complement the design and align with the environmentally friendly concept, water-efficient features have been chosen. All the fixtures and accents will feature a brushed nickel finish.

Also, The water feature will have a QR code tag, to explain all the benefits of water and energy saving.
