Site Location: Pritam Rai cross road, Kocharab, Paldi, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Site Area: 7760 sq.m.

Project Brief: The proposed centre for innovation in traditional arts and crafts would be dedicated towards preserving, innovating, revitalising and promoting the glorious crafts heritage of Gujarat, it would be an educational and resource centre and will support the crafts persons to learn, produce and evolve the traditional crafts for the contemporary markets, it would also have an active public interface and become an active public space on the Riverfront.

SPORTS CENTRE, MUMBAI

Site Location:CSMT road, Kalina, Santacruz East, Mumbai Site Area: 3500 sq.m.

Project Brief: The brief was to design an extension to a sports complex in the Kalina university. To explore the role that a social space plays in a university campus, to understand the relationship between built and unbuilt spaces. To create an environment that is baririer free and accesible to all. To achieve social, economical and environmental sustainabilty.

The existing building on site was barely used for the function it was designed for.

The building is a monotous block and required some breaks and transitory areas.

The division of the block into three function governed blocks and two more interactive spaces, creates the mysterious chance one woukd take to explore both irrespective of their intent.

The linearity is maintained with a single axis path giving it focal attention.

Natural light is allowed throught skylights.

Introduction of such a long ramp creates intrigue and also creates conversations and views. The whole inspiration behind the project comes to play when split levelled transitory spaces are introduced.

PASSIVE STRATEGIES

The courtyard breaks the space and creates room for hot air to rise up and reduce the micro-climate. This courtyard has an aspect ratio of 1:2 which is considered good. Vertical louvers reduce the solar heart gain by 65-70% and allow ventilation between fabric and shading. Also up to 90% open to breeze and hence make a genius passive cooling strategy.

Used along the north façade so as to allow maximum natural ventilation and daylighting.

The jali allows light and air while minimizing the sun and the rain, as well as providing cooling through passive ventilation. The holes are often nearly of the same width or smaller than the thickness of the stone, thus providing structural strength.

CRAFT GUILD, UDAIPUR

Site Location: Rani Rd, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Site Area: 916.11 sq.m.

Project Brief: The project aims to utilize community living as a concept to develop a residential cluster using principles of climate responsive architecture and context of local techniques & materials. This needs to be in modular format which can be repeated or multiplied if required in the region of the community. The focus of the studio is to create a multi family dwelling in the form of a GUILD. Historically, guilds were ecosystems or safe spaces. the guild needs to break away from the inward looking silos.

Site Location: River Rd, Fort Nagar, Fort Kochi, Kochi, Kerala.

Site Area: 105.95 sq.m.

Project BriefThe Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) is the largest contemporary art festival in Asia, held once every two years, in abandoned factories and warehouses repurposed as galleries and cafes, in Fort Kochi Mattancherry, in Kerala, South India. The design program requires to design a pavilion for the KMB 2021, in the open ground at the Aspin Wall House, which houses a number of exhibitions by various artists . The brick pavilion can be the new ‘square’ generating activities inside and outside.

05 GST OFFICE BUILDING,

GHAZIABAD Site Location: GST building, Kamla Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Site Area: 1510 sq.m.

Project Brief: Presenting to you mudra, a GST ofce building situated in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

This building resembles the co dependence between nature and built form. It is a green building that is not only efcient but climate responsive, caters to the cultural and social norms and is also user friendly. Taking all of this into account, we designed this dynamic and contextual building.

Linear walls receive perpendicular sun rays which radiates on both planes, thus making inner environment uncomfortable for the users.

FORM DEVELOPMENT

Semi circular wall receives angular sunrays which diverts the radiations, thus making the inner climate comfortable for the users.

Undertaking volumetric study to visualize the volumes and mass of the spaces required and hence increasing the heights.`

URBAN STREETSCAPE MUMBAI

Site Location: Diamond Garden to Ambedkar Garden, Chembur, Mumbai.

Site Length: 1.384 km.

Project Brief: The proposed site will be redesigned using a landscape approach of catering to users with neurocognitive disorder, intellectual disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, limited mobility, pregnancy, obesity,etc. After analysing the existing site, our approach was making it accessible and participatory to all users by creating a ‘Therapeutic Environment’ by following the principle of senses and sensory perception: Sight, Smell, Touch and Hear.
