WOOD_VARNISHES_BROWN&BRASS_POLISH

Antique and vintage style wooden panel of 15 mm is coated with the intricate shinny brass plating of 1.5 mm with antique mirrors at the center. The mirrors are lifted and placed in a square such that each one reflects and is seen into the another mirror.

The brown colored perforated wooden panel around the mirror zali pattern is placed for exchange of air ventilation.

Authentic wooden ornamental skirting is given at the bottom of the panel.

Golden colored Greek Doric style columns stand at the corner of the side and front panel.

The decorative button panel is made of vintage polished brass and it is vandal resistant Led lights provided for button indication Intricate designed floor mounted railing having circular brass rod. Chair is placed at corner to sit for aged and emergency cases Lamp is provided above the button pannel.

Front panel consists of a large,royal antique mirror in the center to emphasis royalty. Antique and vintage style wooden panel of mm is coated with the intricate shinny brass plating of 1.5 mm

One of the unique thing is the decorative stool for sitting has been placed in the corner which merged with the column, this stool is designed thinking of old aged people or can be used multiple factors

Steel framing done to fix the panels in between and joining two panels by tenon mortise joint. Shearing due to to impact of lift is taken care appropriate framing method

There is also a vintage style ornamental plated iron clock with gold finish embedded at the of the panel to get glimse of the time when enter the lift and also it shows current lift floor centre of dial.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

AIRPORT HOTEL, PUNE......CREATING A PAUSE POINT FOR TRAVELLERS

As we see that Pune is growing rapidly and the growth has been seen due to various job and educational opportunities. The growth came up with growth in various IT industries, rapid urbanization , growth in business sectors and various educational facilities. All this factors has impacted on transportation in Pune. It has also impacted on air travel. Air travel has increased and it is impaction the current airport facilities. The footfall has changed and reached pre pandemic level. The footfall at the Pune International Airport has been witnessing 28,000 flyers per day. Due the increase in demand the new terminal also under construction and will also introduce international flights.

It is also causing pressure on available Airport facilities, it is seen that people are complaining about insufficient waiting areas, no rest zones and shower area. Even though the new terminal is under construction which will have domestic as well as international flights the terminal still lacks some of the facilities considering as an International airport. Taking all these in considerations the proposed building ‘Airport Hotel’ will try to solve all these problems along with providing rest zones, leisure activity spaces for the passengers whose flight got delayed , these activities will be effective for the passengers whose flight got delayed by 6 or more hours. Stay facilities and meeting area for business purpose also be there as the site is near to various IT offices and commercial areas. The project will also serve the people surrounding the hotel by allowing them to use public spaces like restaurants and gaming areas etc but main focus will be on the passengers only. The hotel also will be good point for the business meeting as the business sector is rapidly increasing in Pune city.

What is an ‘Airport hotel’ ?

Airport hotels are the hotels which offers accommodation which are located either inside terminal buildings, or are outside the terminal building at walking distance of 3-5 mins from the terminal building but on the airport’s property. Sometimes they may even be a some kilometers from airport itself but will provide airport shuttle services. There are many airport hotels throughout the world at a location which has a decent airport.

• Site is located in Pune district in Maharashtra. Site is located in Vimannagar, near Interna tional Pune Airport and adjacent to the Aero mall.

• It is seen that in recent years migration in Pune is increasing day by day, as Pune is cre ating Job and education opportunities. Pune is also a famous tourist place from many years.

• Increasing tourism and migration also cre ating pressure on transport system of Pune airport so the terminal 2 is proposed and is in under construction process.

• But still the airport is not able to solve the overcrowding issue in waiting area in pick up hours.

• Also Airport lacks in facilities in case of flight delays more than 6 hours, also other facilities like luggage rooms, locker rooms, rest zones or any other entertainment area where people can spend the time.

Design concept and development:

Green Architecture Concepts- Green roofs

• Architecture which has sustainability and eco-friendliness as its main ideals is green architecture. Green architects design buildings, that are energy-efficient, sustainable and which demonstrate the possibility of co-existing in harmony with nature.

• As the site is located in Vimannagar area it is seen that there is a lot of dust pollution and providing green roofs will act not only as a sustainable approach but also will help in absorbing the surrounding dust.

• Stepped roofing is provided to give the best possible view from the building to the flying planes.

Façade materials:

The Ceramic Textile System from Flex brick can be used on facades to create surprising optical effects through combinations of decoration, materials, and alternating the densities of the material.

• Breathable for thermal and acoustic benefits

• Wide range of supports and fastenings

• Fast laying performance

CONNECTING BUILT AND UNBUILT-THROUGH SHARED USE OF INFRASTRUCTURE.

Over the period of times we have seen change in the learning patterns. Traditionally, the Indian educational system was highly integrated to physical activities and hence environment amalgamated understanding of non-visual aspects of physics, engineering, climate and nature with theory was essential. However, this system has been replaced by a new wave of development with wide access to technology and social media cultivating a linear thought process. In this new era, children growing up in cities with increasing commercialism may have a different physiological pat tern. Understanding the needs of this newly formed possibility in the child behavior is challenging.

“Early childhood is a period where the children learn the world as a forum for imag ination and drama that is they reinvent the world. Through sensorial and motoric activities the children rapidly develop their language and communication skills. Their physical movement is much influenced by the features that they get in con tact including furniture, surfaces in the indoors and plants and animals in the outdoors”

The pandemic had a major negative effect on the school kids being restricted to an online platform. The National Education Policy gives equal weightage to art and sciences, circular and extra circular activities, and vocational and academic streams. The circular focuses on overall development of the child. This can hap pen through learning multilevel, multi faceted, play based activity based skills. To create diverse skilled students, some spaces need to be shared; some need to be activity equipped and some intervened with nature to create the wholesome experience rich to grow. With the above background the studio aims to create a part of a neighborhood with schools interlinked with built and unbuilt share infrastructure as a linking play based corridor for kids.

Urban mapping of Kothrud:

Selected base map of Kothrud have 1.5km radius having total 3km diameter area.

• Kothrud is one of the fastest developing suburbs in Pune. Development is due to emergence of Pune as regional industrial powerhouse.

• Population of Kothrud shows all unique characteristics of Indian town.

• Demographics is divided into native people and students who come to Pune for study.Due to this it also provides backbone to region’s economy.

• Main residential area consists of Bhusari colony and Mahatma society along with other.

• Many landmarks are located in Kothrud such as Mrutyunjayeshwar mandir, Dashbhuja Ganpati Mandir.

• Area has many different type of schools which caters various ages.

Built intervention: Environment awareness centre

Design preamble:

• Kachara Depot in Kothrud is situated on Paud Road, surrounded by Residential colonies. Kachara Depot were shut down 2 decades ago but still people used to throw garbage on site.

• The land of the previous garbage depot at Kothrud has been given for Pune Metro terminal. when the depot land was given to the Metro, the authorities had promised that they would be building a retaining wall to prevent spilling of garbage. However, the residents stated that in spite of repeated complaints, the authorities have not built the wall till date. Residents have become more susceptible to it as the health hazards from piling trash can affect us adversely during pandemic.

• The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) has decided to develop the Kothrud garbage depot land for commercial purpose to increase the non fair revenue.

NIWAS-HOUSING PROJECT, MURUD

The brief was to design housing project in Murud near coastal area.

Project will include housing typologies like family quarters, staff quarters, bungalows, row houses, emergency shelters , dormitories, sufficient space should be given to amenities. Open spaces, for training centre, parking area, multipurpose hall, museum and restaurant

Concept:

As the development is evolved along the sea shore , it has grown in certain form with narrow lanes and closed structures.

So while dedveloping the site i have applied the wave form and narrow lane kind of structure in the design. The landscaping is done using local trees like coconut , cashew, mango trees etc.

Sufficient open spaces are given in between the building blocks so that air can circulate.

As murud people they are very communicative they have ‘aangan’ where people can sit and talk in their leisure time so the north and south elevation created in such a way that the people can interact with each other through balcony ,and also porch and courtyards are created for communication of people.

ICBT & CO-WORKING

The brief was to design intra bus terminal that are well integrated into the communities they serve at the local level; meeting the needs of passengers through useful amenities; and serving asaccessible, active,sociable and comfortable publicspaces. With co-working spaces for different startup companies.

Site is located in Balewadi, Pune on Mumbai Bangalore highway near national insurance academy – Nia, is marked as land reservation for Pune municipal transport - PMT

Concept: Breathing space in urban jungle

• As the site is surrounded by many office buildings as well as residential buildings and almost all are having glass facades it heats up the building , also there is no breathing space in Baner area ,so green terraces are created in the building it self .

• Green terraces will act as breathing space and it will help in heat insulation and natural ventilation for the building.

Climate responsive:

• Green terraces: Green terraces helps in heat insulation of the bulding. And providing natural insulation for building.

• Glass: As we get natural sunlight from north and northeast side so glass is provided to northen facades so that natural sun light can entre in the building.

• Shape of building: The green terraces are created such that the southen side terraces cast shadows on each other and stepped from south-west to south
