Mixed use masterplan: 780 apartments, commercial & community services, more than 244 000 m2 of gross area, it representan ambious real estate development, architectural and urban project in the city of Lisbon, in a privileged environment on the Tagus river banks, where new residen al buildings, green areas and retail facili es aim to bring life back to the Marvila district.

Traces of the industrial past of the site are recognizable in the dense grid layout that the original factory buildings refer to, once again perpendicular to the adjacent river. Expected comple on by 2023.

The new scheme keeps the density of the grid but disrupts the uniformity by introducing a series of transversal roads to guarantee permeability from any direc on. The spine of the scheme will be a new road running parallel to the river, for retail, pedestrians and public transporta on.

The buildings are inspired by Lisboan tradition, in particular for the ceramic azulejos tiles, an ancient, durable and simple material, used here in a modern and more technical assembly.

Under the guidance of the Greek Ministry of Health, whose indicated the most pressing needs of the Greek health sector, the SNF HI (Stravros Niarchos Founda on - HI) undertook the promo on of a series of health ini a ves by funding three different hospital projects focused on cu ng edge technical solu on and eco-friendly approach: the projects are pursuing targe ng LEED cer fica on, with an aspira on to achieve ‘Pla num’ grade by renewables energy and mber structure.

In Komo ni, the new general hospital will be construct on a site of 91.470sqm, with a full capacity of 200 beds (approx. 25.000sqm).

Thessaloniki Pediatric Hospital - Greece _ SNFHI-Stravros Niarchos FoundaƟon Healthcare IniƟaƟve Phases: SchemaƟc Design (SD)_(BIM - Revit).

The three schemes are united by a “people-centric” approach, with each project seeking to integrate into their natural environments with an emphasis on natural light. The pedriatric hospital of Thessaloniki will follow the design ethos of the Stavros Niarchos Founda onal Cultural Center of Athens, but now with a ‘LEED Pla num’ character, and and eco-friendly approach by implying natural and renewable energy sources, mber structure (as per Komo ni) and the main task to provide an essen al facility to parents living in Thessaloniki, Northern Greece and other regions, which will no longer have to travel far from home to seek hospital care for their children.

The New Toronto Courthouse situated in Toronto’s downtown core, just steps from Nathan Phillips Square and Toronto City Hall, will become a key element of the downtown civic precinct. The new state of the art facility will consolidate otehr several exis ng facili es, thus modernizing the administra on of jus ce for Torontonians and the Province of Ontario.

At an urban level, the goal of the project is to create coherence and connec on to the cultural heritage and natural features of the city by maximizing exterior public space, improving the streetscape on Centre Avenue and Chestnut Street.

Above the podium, a clearly legible cubic volume houses courtrooms and associated services. This volume floats above the highly glazed lower levels but retains an image of lightness due to the facade design composed of layers of glass and embossed metallic back pans, generating a dynamic and immaterial play of constantly changing reflections and shadows.

South Elevation: a 20m tall atrium enclosed by a highly transparent glazed facade creates an immediate and strong image which will extend the public realm into the building, as well as expressing the public nature of the courthouse within the city.

Due the decay of some glass-blocks, mainly by condensa on and visual aging, the fashion brand ‘Hermès’, commissioned in 2018 to RPBW a Retrofit project for their 20 years old icon headquarters in Ginza: its ‘skin’, made out by 14.600 units, 45x45cm module, is considered an architectural icon in overall Asia, by refering to this building as ‘the Japanese Lantern’.

Same exterior appearance but now with cu ng edge solu on: client’s ambi on was to keep the exis ng exterior appearance for the new facade, same transparency and rhythm but be er performance in terms of support of energy efficiency.

The proposed mullion, is 222 kg, corresponding to 122 kg/m2.

Therefore, the proposed mullions complies with the allowable weight criteria and it can be applied either to 9 or 12 block units, as it comply for both the deflec on criteria and allowable stress.

London Bridge Station London, England_ Construction_October 2016 role: Senior Site Architect_ at: Grimshaw Architects (www.grimshaw-architects.com) The cornerstone of the Thameslink improvement project, whilst providing additional capacity for around two thirds more passengers to the station, the scheme will ensure that the station forms a seamless and sympathetic connection into the neighbouring environment.

A new concourse, greater in scale than the pitch at Wembley, will be built at street level, beneath the tracks, and will become an integral feature of the site. There will also be an increase in the number of tracks going through the station, from six to nine, and a reduction from nine to six in the number of terminating platforms.

Photovoltaic Array

The winning theme pavilions, designed around the central meeting plaza that includes a gated 200-hectare expo area, proven record in iconic architectural design, particularly when considering their long-term functionality, sustainability and contribution to Expo 2020’s legacy and Dubai’s long-term development. They must have the flexibility and longevity lo live on as functional landmarks after the Expo completes in 2021.

Grimshaw’s scheme comprised of discs captures, a satellite-like structure for the Sustainability paviliont, which will become a long term ‘cluster’ centre promoting innovative technologies.Usually seen in the desert, similar designs require a tower to focus the light onto the collector (and others in the vicinity). Here, the large disc, which is acutely curved to form a bowl, is surrounded by many smaller versions that stand freely around it.

The cluster of satellite-dish-shaped structures will be repurposed after the expo as a hub to promote sustainable technologies.

St Luke Redevelopment London, UK_ Design contest_May 2016 role: Project Architect_ at: Grimshaw Architects (www.grimshaw-architects.com) The St Luke’s project provides a unique and transformative opportunity to create high-quality buildings and spaces that will allow both existing and future communities to meet, grow and take pride in their environment. The buildings have been arranged on the site to take advantage of their unique location and consideration of the phasing requirements to maintain leisure facilities throughout the development period.

The scheme, contextual and modern expression of urban family life with private gardens, beautifully landscaped communal squares and play spaces, high quality brickwork and generous windows.

Large amount of family housing arranged as town houses and maisonettes and twelve wheelchair accessible flats have been arranged a new landscaped pedestrian route. St Luke’s Leisure, Health and Energy Centre is conceived as a single integrated structure designed as a sensitive response to the site and provide open, welcoming and convivial spaces that activate and engage with wider public realm.

clearly articulated as distinct elements, a complementary ‘ying and yang’ intertwined and overlapping to provide a distinctiveoverall identity.

Each processional passenger route is articulated as a separate form with individual material expression such that the function and use of the building is immediately understood. The embarkation passenger tube is clad in polycarbonate panels which glow and shimmer in the sunlight and the disembarkation route in contrast is more enclosed in form with a perforated 3-dimensional concrete screen.
