Walker’s Fine Art and Estate Auctions’ Inuit and First Nations Live Art Auction realized results of $1.4 million CAD in total sales. The Canadian dollar currently equals .75 U.S. dollar. All figures are in CAD (the Canadian dollar). Walker’s is based in Canada’s capital city of Ottawa. The Nov. 18 sale was comprised of 333 lots of Native Canadian and American sculpture, prints, drawings, textile arts, and decorative objects spanning over 2,000 years. The auction attracted hundreds of bidders from across North America and Europe. “I’m pleased that Walker’s is now firmly established as the

market leader in Inuit art. This was an exceptionally strong auction for Walker’s, both in the quality of material presented and in the enthusiastic response not only from seasoned collectors, but also many first-time clients. In this sale, prices doubled estimates for works by Kenojuak Ashevak, Osuitok Ipeelee, Jessie Oonark, and Pauta Saila and tripled for works by John Tiktak, Lionel Samuels, and Judas Ullulaq, to mention only a few,” said owner Jeff Walker.
