SALT WATER DAY IS BACK! Old Bridge Township Department of Parks & Recreation, Middlesex County Parks & Recreation and Laurence Harbor First Aid Squad is excited to announce that Saltwater Day is back! This year’s event will take place on Saturday, August 14th from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The event will have vendors of all kinds, new exciting rides, carnival game trailers, entertainment, and food trucks!! The night will end with spectacular fireworks show!! Live music will be played throughout the day by the fantastic 80’s Revolution Band and Motor City Review band. We’re also excited to announce a brand-new attraction featuring tethered hot air balloon rides! For our 21 and older guests, the Laurence Harbor Fire Department will be hosting a Beer Garden for $10/person which includes a mug and two drink tickets. Additional tickets are $2 each, and proof of age is required. Some of our rides have been sponsored by Sayrewoods South Men’s Baseball League, Solterra Recycling Solutions and Central Jersey Softball Association so far. Bring the family and celebrate the first township public event since the start of the pandemic. This event will take place rain or shine. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HOLD FUNDRAISER FOR JAR OF HOPE On July 23rd the Old Bridge, Sayreville and South Amboy Chamber of Commerce held a fundraiser called, “Steak & Cigars” hosted at C1 Farms by Stacey and David Hernandez in Morganville. The event brought together members of the community and businesses in Old Bridge raising funds that go towards research for Duchennne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD affects about 300,000 boys worldwide, with approximately 20,000 cases in the United States. DMD has many variations,
which makes finding a cure extremely challenging. JAR of Hope’s mission is dedicated to bringing awareness and raising funds directed to finding a cure. Chamber President David Hernandez said, “Jim is an amazing man and father, going to great lengths to bring awareness to DMD. The Chamber Board and Trustees could not help but hold a fundraiser for JAR of Hope and having it hosted at C1 Farms meant so much to Stacey and I.” HernanContinue on page 14

We have some delicious summer apple varieties that are also “must haves” like the Zestar and Molly Delicious. We will have a stand set up at the Middlesex County Fair this year and hope that you will stop
by and see us if you’re on the fairgrounds. The Fair will run from August 2nd through August 9th at the Fairgrounds on Cranbury Road in East Brunswick. Stop by and say hello! Or, as always, come visit us at our farm stand, 261 Ticetown Road, Old Bridge Tuesday – Sunday 9-5, or at any of the weekly farmers markets we attend: Thursdays – Keyport Firemen’s Memorial Park (across from the Fishery) 11am – 7pm, and Rahway Train Station, 12pm – 7pm, Saturdays – Highlands, Huddy Park 9am – 2pm and Sundays – Red Bank in the Galleria parking lot 9am – 2pm. We are in full swing here on the farm and happy to report that the “BIG THREE” are in: sweet corn, tomatoes and peaches!!! We are also picking zucchini, onions, cabbage, greens, cucumbers, plums, string beans, summer apples, blackberries and more. A crowd favorite is almost ready, the donut peach.
