MESSAGE FROM STEPHANIE BUCKEL COUNCILWOMAN

Hello Residents, It has been my absolute pleasure to be the Recycling & Recreation Departments’ Liaison for the Borough of Matawan these past few years. We are proud of our many accomplishments with bringing great events and programs to our residents. We have listened to your feedback and implemented a top-notch Recycling facility and various recycling events as well as added a Senior Exercise Program. Saturday May 6th is our annual town-wide yard sale from 9am3pm. Registration deadline is Monday, 5/1. Our annual Memorial Day Parade will be Monday 5/29 at 11 am, with our Memorial Day Ceremony to follow at Memorial Park at 11:45am. We love working with our businesses and we thank all who work with us on our events. At our Memorial Day Parade, a local business Visiting Angels stepped up to sponsor our Matawan Heroes Float which allowed our Grand Marshall & Special Guest of Honor and their families to ride the float in recognition of their service to our Country.

On Wednesday May 31st, please join us at the Matawan-Aberdeen High School for a Philip Freneau presentation (Honoring the Poet of the American Revolution). Presentation starts at 7:30 with a pre-show at 7pm. The event is free to the public. Additionally, Recycling will be hosting its 3rd Annual Paper Shredding Event sponsored by Monmouth County on Saturday, June 10th at Matawan’s train station. Our Plastic Film recycling program has been very successful. This is a great way to ensure that plastic film is reused rather than polluting our planet. If you are new in town, make sure to get your bucket and our Recycling calendar which was mailed out earlier this year. For more information, please visit matawanborough.com.
