Investing in infrastructure is paramount to any thriving community. Not only is it important to provide residents with a return on their tax dollars, but keeping facilities up to date and ensuring the departments have the equipment to do their jobs and provide the best services possible is necessary for any successful town.

Since Matawan Mayor Joseph Altomonte tenure and our administration, investing in infrastructure has been one of our biggest priorities, and we do that in a few ways, and one of them is through our roads. But, unfortunately, it was not long ago that didn’t happen. So we appreciate your patience as you navigate around town recently while we work on paving many of the roads in the Borough. Since the beginning of our leadership, we’ve paved over 30 roads! Ensuring our public works and police and fire departments have the necessary staffing and equipment to perform their jobs to keep the community safe is essential. Whether it’s keeping the fleets up to date, training, or exploring the latest technology, all are important for public safety and service to our residents. Another way we do that is through investment in our parks. We are proud to announce we received notice that the Borough was awarded a $74,000 grant from the 2023 NJ Department of Community Affairs for the local recreation improvement grant! The grant will improve Penniplede Park, including redoing the basketball courts and improving the walkway access from Main and Jackson Streets. In addition, earlier in April, we were notified about a $97,000 grant toward improvements we will make to the Clinton Street Park area. We remain committed to enhancing our parks yearly and encourage you to enjoy our many parks around town as warm weather arrives!

Hello residents, If you live in the I ,C, F & W sections in Aberdeen you know we certainly experienced our share of water main breaks this past winter. Obviously we requested to meet with NJ American Water. After two meetings, I am very pleased to inform you that NJAW is planing a nearly 3 million dollar capital improvement Water Main project in the I Section. Ivins Court, Idaho Lane, Idlewild Lane, Imbrook Lane and Laurie Lane are the scheduled roads to received new water mains along with 3 new fire hydrants. This improvement project should also help improve water pressure in the above mention sections of town and uninterrupted water service.The Township will then move forward with the planned paving project for this area. On another note, Cambridge Park on will make up this park. Last year, a new concrete staircase was constructed and drainage improvements were completed. The project will be completed with a new parking area to include ADA parking.

Stage ll of Ross Field in Cliffwood Beach is also near completion with ADA walkways, fences, stairways and new illuminated Flag Pole.
