‘Adivasi Oriya’s of Araku Valley live surrounded by lush green forest and green mountains, but as they struggle to maintain their livelihoods in the changing world with multiple jobs differing according to the season. While ones there was a time then they could survive out of forest produce and NTFP’s and now the NTFP’s have become their last resort in the time of extreme needs.’
Maatimatu can be interrupted as Brown + needs in Adivasi Oriya, the local language of the Indigenous community of Araku Valley. It is a community-owned brand with a vision to develop and Sustainable living goals. The brand deals with everyday organic/ handmade product range where the value added to it is done by the communities itself. The raw materials come directly from the green forests around the valley and processed in a sustainable way by the people for the people. It is based out of Araku valley in collaboration with AASSAV and under Industree foundation.
