The challenge of this project was to tackle a larger scope of space planning while creating a unique space for the REI team and visitors. A connection between the outdoors and interiors, two worlds colliding into one.

The design concept for this headquarters creates that harmony with the outdoor atmosphere and captures that indoors, while creating a rejuvenating work environment. The town hall space fosters a sense of belonging for everyone who walks through our doors. That’s why this environment is where people of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities can come together, share stories, and create memories, and hold meetings.

The design of this project revolved around creating a unique “third space” for the people within the beautiful city of Chicago. Happy hour creates an immersive experience from the moment you walk through the door. Each level draws in the customers to continue exploring and to stay a little longer for happy hour.
