COMPANY BACKGROUND
Minang Kakao is a social agriculture enterpreneurship brand by PT. Pengelola Aset Islami Indonesia. It is the first and the only one sustainable cocoa agriculture practice in Indonesia that grow and directly process cocoa to become fresh, natural, organic and healthy chocolate.
BRAND IDENTITY
Elegant and classic with ethnical aestetic that represent product’s origin.
DESIGN EXECUTION
Applying traditional patterns from textile and architecture craftmanship from Minang Kabau, West Sumatera.
MARAWA |
DARK CHOCOLATE
The black, red, and yellow colours on the design inspired by Minang’s flag called Marawa. Added with rhombus pattern that commonly used on Songket (typical cloth from Minang)
SIRIAH GADANG |
DARK CHOCOLATE
Siriang Gadang is one of famous pattern from Minang kabau. Siriah gadang pattern meaning is hospitality, friendliness, and warmth nature of Minang people.
DAUN PULUIK-PULUIK |
Daun puluik-puluik is one of famous pattern from Minang Kabau. It means prosperity, fertility, and strong attitude
DARK CHOCOLATE
SIRIAH GADANG |
MILK CHOCOLATE
White is chosen to represent the freshness and creamy of the milk. As for the ornament, Siriah gadang pattern recomposed to create new unique pattern.
PUCUAK RABUANG |
HEALTHY CHOCOLATE
Pucuak Rabuang is on of the most sacred pattern from Minang Kabau. ‘Pucuak rabuang’ means bamboo shoot in English. It has philosophical meaning that our life should be like bamboo, meaningful and useful in every stage of life.
SIRIAH GADANG |
HEALTHY CHOCOLATE
Siriang Gadang is one of famous pattern from Minang kabau. Siriah gadang pattern meaning is hospitality, friendliness, and warmth nature of Minang people. For this variant, I rearranged the composition ot the pattern and changed the colour into brighter colours.
EID UL FITR EDITION |
DARK CHOCOLATE
This design is special edition for Eid Ul Fitr celebration. The design is using islamic ornaments such as stars, crescent moon, and mosque silhouette. The mosque silhouette that was used in this design is Baiturrahman Mosqe in Aceh. The pucuak rabuang pattern also added into the design.
RAMADHAN EDITION |
DARK CHOCOLATE
This design is special edition for holy month ramadhan. The design is using an iconic Padang Mosque illustration and traditional pattern called ‘daun puluik-puluik’.
AIE BIRU |
SEA SALT CHOCOLATE
Aie biru means blue water. the design inspired from beautiful scenery of Sumatera’s seas that have sparkling blue water with lined up hills on the background. A traditional pattern called ‘itiak pulang patang’ also added into the design. This pattern means harmony. The overall design represent beauty and harmony of Sumatera’s nature.
VISIT WEST SUMATERA |
SEA SALT CHOCOLATE
This design is a campaign for West Sumatra tourism. There is two traditional pattern in this design: siku-siku babungo and itiak pulang patang, that represent the nature of Minang people. Siku-siku babungo has deep meaning: the Minang people are people who obey traditional and religious rules while itiak pulang patang represent the unity of the people.
