The Concept: To ‘grow’ a medicinal wheel garden based on the traditional American Indian ideology of wellness thru nature - a sacred space of immersion, art and beauty - a tranquil and delightful urban retreat - a hidden oasis buried deep within the streets of the Union Market district……

The Guest Experience: Arrive thru a tumbling arbor of green, bursting with color, to be met by a personal ‘gardener’ grabbing your own linen herb bag and set of gardening gloves.

Limited groups of four will walk within the space, immersed in their own private experience…..pick your own herbs, take selfies amongst the art, explore hidden moments and drop the blood pressure by five points! Or go in our VIP floral mart and pick your own posy for yourself, a loved one or friend….

Our Mediums: canvas and paint/paper and cardboard/living flora, moss, herbs and wood…even creating beauty from the throw aways of modern day living….

Whimsy + intricacy + beauty + color…cut paper/origami/ colored rocks and intriguing shapes mix with live blending the lines between Mother Nature’s own artwork and those made by human hand…

The sounds: Natures own ‘white noise’ sound track….buzzing bees/birds song/the wind blowing thru trees/water rushing along a stream….

Sound ‘baths’ of Tibetan singing bowls…..chanting choirs and soft melodic pan pipes….

Tastes

Hydroponics + herbs…tying in medicinal plant materials for modern day health….

Get your discounted botanical inspired beverages (served across the street at La Cosecha) …or rent out the space for private 25 person dinners catered by a local restaurant or off premiss caterer.

Smells

Tying in unusual but evocative scents to reinforce the experience and truly harness the natural world…

The Takeaways: A percentage of the entrance fee goes towards the buying of herbs and medicinal flowering plants to create Medicine wheel gardens within local underserved communities…..Anacostia has already shown an interest in creating a garden on Howard Road.

The Store: Because every good experience needs a store - other vendors within the Edens family could provide product within a curated market as guests leave….

The Activations: Not only would we manage a three day a week ongoing experience, we would build in ‘special’ day activations.

Or creating an Easter egg scavenger hunt that allows kids to spot the hidden eggs and claim their own chocolate egg treat.

For the lead up to Mothers Day - VIP tickets where guests get to pick their own flowers, perhaps have a florist on hand to teach how to do a quick arrangement.

OUR PROMISES: To create physical beauty and joy for people who have been starved of it for 12 months.

To involve our event partners who have been without business and need a helping hand this year.

To hire out of work artists, actors and actresses to help ‘stage’ our garden.

To bring a smile to children as they find ‘eggs’ hidden within our world at Easter - or to wives, mothers, sisters or girlfriends as they pick their own flowers on a Mothers day out treat.

To remind our guests that it should always be OK to stop and smell the roses, not just during a Covid scare.

To bring some natural beauty and wellness into the lives of those less fortunate as an ongoing project to bring medicinal plants to inner city areas.

To be part of something that not only gives, but that gives back!
