How to minimize the risk of Foot-and-mouth disease in our herds?
Over the past months, there has been outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in several European countries. Especially in Slovakia, Hungary, and Germany.
As a result, farmers need to intensify their efforts to prevent the disease in their livestock herds.
It is a highly contagious disease that affects cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, etc., and virus is carried by several sources.
Novadan offers two recognized and well-documented products that are effective against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).
We primarily recommend PAA products and Glutaraldehyde-based productsdepending on the countries-specific registrations.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have surface disinfectant products registrered in all EU countries but we have reason to believe that we will achieve this later this year.
Please contact us with any questions - we will do our best to assist you.
If you have any ”stories/experiences with Novadan products” from your country that could be of interest to our other partners/ distributors, please share it with us by emailing details (and images) to hoy@novadan.dk
Or if you are anxious to know more about some topics, which you would like us to write about - again please contact hoy@novadan.dk

Market Update Q2
by Jens Bramsen Sales Director
The first quarter of 2025 has passed, and we are now well into the second quarter. This year began with a slight increase in the prices of key raw materials, followed by several additional increases at the beginning of Q2.
The reason for the price hikes at Q2 is reduced consumption in European industries, such as automotive and construction, which has driven up the prices of raw materials like sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite. Additionally, several large manufacturers have announced plans to close down their production facilities for maintaince during the spring and summer.
As everyone is likely aware, the market has reacted nervously, especially at the beginning of April, due to uncertainties surrounding global tariffs. The impact of these tariffs, as well as their secondary effects on the costs of raw materials and energy associated with our products and packaging, remains unknown. At this point, we can only observe and monitor market developments.
How does it look right now – and for Q2, 2025?
• We observe a typical level of access to raw materials, indicating a stable market for raw materials
• Inflation rates in the markets are higher than usual, ranging from approximately 3-6%, including wage increases.
• The construction and automotive industries in Europe are under pressure, leading to a decline in production. This has impacted chemical prices as demand decreases, prompting manufacturers to halt production and carry out maintenance projects at their production plant. So far, four large production plants have announced shutdowns for maintenance, which may cause short term supply challenges.
• The energy supply situation in Europe is much more in control than in previous years. However, manufacturers have chosen to add energy surcharges to raw materials in Q2, citing unexpectedly high rates over the past 6 months.
• The ongoing trade wars within and outside Europe will continue to create market turmoil and nervousness, potentially affecting the supply and prices of raw materials due to higher tariffs.

NEW LABEL DESIGN
by Annette Høy Marketing Manager,
The EU’s CLP Regulation (classification, labeling, and packaging of substances and mixtures) has been revised, and Novadan will need to change its label design accordingly. Among the new requirements are that text on labels has to be black with a white background, the font size must be larger etc. Therefore you will see new labels design that will be implemented during the coming two years.
Current and previous design
New design
BATCH LABELS
Furthermore, we have bought a new system for batch labels on the packaging. We have had some challenges with the quality of the former batch labels. We hope you like the improvements.
Due to the enlarged font size, there is not space enough for the same number of languages on each label than before.
Consequently, additional items number will need to be created. We will inform all affected customers accordingly.
MEMBRANE SEMINAR: CLEANING AND CIP
It was an easy decision for Novadan to sign up for sponsorship of the seminar: Cleaning & CIP
When Mejeriteknisk Selskab on April 3rd held a seminar about Cleaning & CIP, Novadan was sponsor of the seminar. And it was an easy decision.
“This time, the topic was right up our alley! Other times, the topic has been about milk production or something similar but Cleaning and CIP was a natural fit for us” explains Jens Ole Jensen, Sales Manager, Food at Novadan.
He was very satisfied how the day turned out and believes that Novadan has benefitted from the day even though this
is not the kind of day where new customers are expected.
“We get attention, and Novadan is visitble. Furthermore, we contributed with a presentation that fitted to the overall topic”, says Jens Ole Jensen and continues: “Such a day it also very much about networking which is one of the reasons to be here. We see this a professional day and hope to contribute with our knowledge in a sober way.”
A seminar like this is also a place where the advantages that Novadan’s Danish location is highlighted. “We are selling to the dairy industry in Denmark as well as internationally. Through the years, we have enjoyed the advantages by developing and producing in Denmark. Thereby we develop our products to the standards of the Danish food legislation and legislations as to waste water discharge. Consequently, we have often been one step ahead when other countries have tightened the rules and adjust to EU-legislation.
“So, all in all this has been a very good day, and we can easily see ourselves as seminar sponsors again if the topic is the same or similar”, concludes Jens Ole Jensen.

Carlsberg uses Novadan product as benchmark product!
This spring, I attended a meeting with Carlsberg in Denmark following the modernization of the dosing system for Beer Line Cleaner Color at Denmark’s largest draft beer facility. This facility is located in “Parken”, the largest soccer stadion in Denmark.
During the meeting, I was informed that Carlsberg no longer centrally manages the cleaning detergents used at their draft beer facilities. In Northern Europe, Carlsberg uses Novadan’s Beer Line Cleaner Color.
Over the years, various products on the market have been tested to compare their cleaning effectiveness. The results consistently show that Beer Line Cleaner Color remains the benchmark product, outperforming all other cleaning products. I must admit, this makes me proud.
Whenever I order a draft beer, I hope the establishment knows how to clean their beer lines properly. Many people have likely experienced a semi-sour draft beer due to an unclean hose system.
If you would like to know more about this product, please let me know.

The story about RIBO
The first time we met RIBO was in week 42 of 2014. A former employee at a competitor contacted us and shared their plan to “break out” and start their own business in the market for laundry facilities at rental properties.
The market for rental properties in Denmark is substantial as many people live in the large cities like Copenhagen. Every rental property block has its own laundry facility in the basement equipped with 3-5 washing machines. Users pay electronically to use these machines, and the products used are usually liquid detergents managed by a dosing system.
In 2014. Novadan recognized a potentially untapped market for laundry detergents which Novadan was not focusing on at the time. Although Novadan already had a suitable product range, we needed the right distributor to reach all these rental properties in Denmark. Beside the correct product range, it was essential to provide a robust dosing technology setup to manage small laundry facilities. RIBO possessed all the
necessary competences and extensive market insight -both on the customer side and regarding technical issues such as dosing technique suitable for small laundry facilities.
RIBO quickly got a strong foothold in the market and grew rapidly during the first few years. Later, they expanded their business to include other products such as water softening plants and maintenance products used by housing associations.
Much has happened over the past 10 years. The company currently has six service vehicles, a newly build warehouse, and has developed its own uniquedosing system in the market.
On April 4th, RIBO celebrated their 10-year anniversary where we were invited. They have done an excellent job over these 10 years, developing and creating a successful business. Today, RIBO is a family-owned business, and next generation has recently joined, becoming an active part of the company’s continous development. Novadan is very proud to have been part of this company’s journey and to have had such a good partner that has successfully developed the market and the business.

Nova Optimizer
For several years, Novadan has worked with Nova Optimizer as a manure additive.
We have very good experience with the product and the four most important arguments are the following:
- Homogenous manure = More uniform fertilization
- Easier pumping/spreading of manure
- Less nitrogen evaporation = Greater fertilizer value retained in the slurry
- Less nuisance odour
We acknowledge that the product requires stronger sales efforts but do not hesitate to ask Novadan about sales materials or sales arguments etc.
