Why is making an education donation becoming increasingly important during the pandemic? Learning loss amidst the COVID-19 pandemic The nation has been severely overwhelmed by the coronavirus pandemic, as the number of reported cases and deaths continue to plummet. In order to arrest the spread of the COVID-19 infections, the national authorities have decided to temporarily close down all educational institutions. As part of its nationwide lockdown, India had ordered schools and colleges to pause offline classes. This prompted institutions across the country to shift to an online, remote mode of learning.

While online learning became the norm for many students in urban areas, the situation looked vastly different in low-income areas. Children residing in marginalized communities faced a number of challenges while adapting to new forms of learning. These children did not have access to electronic devices, high-speed internet, or the technological know-how to attend live online classes or the pre-recorded sessions. Study materials such as textbooks and notebooks also become suddenly unavailable to them, which significantly impacted the pace of learning.
