Wabi Sabi: Boutique Hotel Kyoto, Japan Design Studio: Fall 2023 Academic Project: Collaboration with Anam Haque Earl Prize Nominee This project is a boutique art hotel inspired by a Tea Ceremony. The small gathering spaces in

this design provide a public, yet intimate space for its users. This design is an urban solution that allows free access for the pedestrians in the city to walk through and experience the sunken Japanese Gardens.

PHI Contemporary Montreal, Quebec, Canada Design Studio: Fall 2022 Academic Project: Collaboration with Emily Kleinschmit Earl Prize Nominee This project is a design of an art museum in Montreal, Canada. This project is an add-on to the

existing walls of an original building in the city. With our design, we aimed to respect the existing building, while also bringing in a new design. A public courtyard, occupiable balconies, and green rooftops encourage the users to visit and experience the natrual environment in this city. The programmatic elements and central staircase encourage the users to experience the art and different activities the museum provides.

HOPE Village Champaign-Urbana, IL Design Studio: Spring 2023 Academic Project: Collaboration with Ean Graff Earl Prize Nominee The HOPE Village is a community designed for the homeless community in the Champaign -

Urbana area. The focus of this design was the three main facilities the people will be using. Each “pod” serves a different function (gathering and dining, health and well-being, and admin and commissary). The structure focused on the benefits of using mass timber, this specific structure is nail - laminated timber with a curved roof to make it as if the roof was “emerging from the ground” and “coming from nature”.

A Dwelling Place Champaign, IL Design Studio: Spring 2023 Individual Project This project is a small dwelling located in Champaign, IL near the boneyard creek. The purpose of this project is to create a small dwelling that can host from 1-4 people. In this design, the use

of transformable furniture (folding stairs, sliding furniture) to create bigger spaces when the user is hosting more people is the main focus.

Mass Timber Arena Seattle, Washington Mass Timber Design Academic Collaboration: Basmah Kishta This project is located in the Seattle area and serves as a hockey arena. The main structural system for this project is nail-laminated timber in order to fit the curvilinear roofing system. In

this project, there are three different roofs: two covering the arena itself (NLT) and the roof over the entrance (CLT). Mechanical and HVAC systems are given space integrated in between the glulam beams supporting the roof.
