SITE

Urban City in the U.S.

CONCEPT

The outcome of the COVID-19 pandemic led many businesses to vacate their office spaces, resulting in an excess of empty office buildings in urban areas across the US. By adapting these buildings into multifamily residential, it not only promotes sustainable development by reducing the demand for new construction but also addresses the challenges of urban vacancy and the housing shortage.

Targeting young professionals, the intention is to create multi-family residential units that seamlessly blend nature and foster connections among residents. Through the use of sustainable and natural materials, along with custom-built features in each units, the goal is to cultivate a s ense of harmony and unity within the community. Each unit offers distinct way finding, achieved by breaking the volume of the space and utilizing color strategically. This vision of interconnectedness extends beyond individual units, creating a cohesive and enriching living experience that celebrates both community and sustainability.

SOFTWARES USED

Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?

The negative repercussions of COVID-19 on downtown regions throughout the U.S. created many empty buildings . In particular, office buildings in large cities have demonstrated a consistent downfall over the past few years as a result of people leaving for the suburbs . These vacancies are not being filled , which futhers the decline of downtowns.
