TABLE OF CONTENTS MEMORIAL PROJECT
THIS PROJECT WAS FOCUSED ON CREATING A MEMORIAL IN LAUREL HILL CEMETARY IN PHILADELPHIA. THE MEMORIAL I CREATED WAS FOR A PAST LIFE IN ROCHESTER, NEW YORK. THE WATER IN MY PROJECT REPRESENTS LAKE ONTARIO AND THE FINGER LAKES, WHERE I GREW UP. THE WATER IS PEACEFUL AND IS COLLECTED WITH RAINWATER FROM THE SITE. YOU CIRCUMAMBULATE AROUND THE WATER TO HAVE INTERACTION WITH IT WHILE CREATING A PEACEFUL EXPERIENCE. THE FUN COLORS REPRESENT MY CHILDHOOD IN ROCHESTER. THERE ARE ALSO VIEWS OF THE RIVER FROM MY SITE THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE PEACE.

ASCENSION PROJECT
KELLY DRIVE IN PHILADELPHIA IS KNOWN TO BE A VERY BUSY ROAD WITH LACK OF PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLINESS TO CROSS THE ROAD. THE SITE IS ACROSS FROM THE TEMPLE BOATHOUSE. THIS BOATHOUSE HAS A SIDEWALK THAT MANY PEDESTRIANS USE EVERYDAY.
THIS DESIGN PRIORITIZES PEDESTRIANS INSTEAD OF CARS. WITH RAISING THE ROAD, PEOPLE CAN EASILY WALK UNDERNEATH IT TO GET TO THE OTHER SIDE AND USE THE RAMP TO GET TO STRAWBERRY MANSION BRIDGE DRIVE. THIS IS ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE AND CREATES A SAFE WAY FOR PEOPLE TO CROSS. WITH THE RAISED ROAD, IT WILL ALSO FORCE TRAFFIC TO SLOW DOWN AS THEY GO OVER THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY. THIS SOLVES MANY PROBLEMS AND PUTS PEOPLE FIRST.

TOWER PROJECT
THIS TOWER PROJECT WAS DESIGNED FOR MUSIC BROADCAST. WITH CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE DELL MUSIC CENTER, THIS DESIGN ALLOWS PEOPLE TO ENTER THE TOWER AND TAKE A JOURNEY THROUGH THE BUILDING TO GET TO THE BROADCAST BOOTH. THIS JOURNEY IS UNKNOWN BEFORE ENTERING BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE BUILDING IS SHAPED. THE WINDOWS ALLOW FOR LIGHT TO COME INTO THE BUILDING AND CREATES A PATTERN THAT MAKES A PERSON WANT TO CONTINUE WALING THROUGH. IT IS EXTENDED OVER A CLIFF WHICH MAKES IT TOWER LIKE. IT IS NOT A TYPICAL TOWER BECAUSE IT DOES NOT GO STRAIGHT UP. IT HAS A SLIGHT RAMP WHEN WALKING THROUGH AND THE TOWER ASPECT COMES FROM THE WAY IT SITS OVER THE HILL. FROM A PERSPECTIVE UNDERNEATH THE STRUCTURE, IT APPEARS TO BE A TOWER.

SANCTUARY PROJECT
THIS PROJECT IS A SANCTUARY THAT IS LOCATED IN STRAWBERRY MANSION, PHILADELPHIA. THE SITE IS IN FAIRMOUNT PARK, DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THE ATHLETIC FIELDS. THE DESIGN IS ABOUT HAVING NO DISTRACTIONS WHEN MOVING THROUGH THE BUILDING. THIS IS TO BE AT PEACE AND NOT FOCUS ON WHAT IS OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. THIS CAUSES MOST OF THE NATURAL LIGHT TO BE COMING FROM THE ROOF OF THE DESIGN. PRIVACY IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR A SANCTUARY SPACE AND IS THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS. THE BUILDING WRAPS AROUND WITH A HALLWAY TO SHAPE THE EXTERIOR GARDEN, CREATING AN INTIMATE EXTERIOR SPACE FOR PEOPLE TO WALK THROUGH WITH NO DISTRACTIONS FROM THE BUSY CITY AROUND THEM. LIGHT AND SHADOW PLAYS A ROLE IN HOW A PERSON FEELS IN EACH SPACE. THIS EXPERIENTIAL DESIGN IS HOW EACH SPACE WAS CREATED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.

DETAILED FOCUS ON ROOF
FROM THE SANCTUARY PROJECT, THE ROOF OF THE MAIN GATHERING SPACE WHERE THE ALTAR PIECE SITS, WAS NOT FULLY DEVELOPED. AFTER CHOOSING TO FURTHER DEVELOP THE ROOF STRUCTURE, MORE CLARITY WAS MADE ABOUT THE LIGHT IN THE SPACE. THE BEAMS PLAY A ROLE IN MAKING LIGHT PATTERNS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. THE MODEL PHOTOS SHOW HOW LIGHT PIERCES THROUGH INTO THE SPACE WITHOUT THE STRUCTURE BLOCKING IT. THE BEAMS ARE SUPPORTING THE OPPOSING PART OF THE ROOF WHICH ARE MADE OF STEEL TO SUPPORT THE HAVINESS OF THE ROOF. THEY CROSS IN AN X PATTERN TO KEEP THE MIDDLE OPEN.
