About me

My name is Anmar Altajjar Gorra, and I am 27 years old. I’m Chilean was born in Syria duo to my family work lived and studyed there, and later relocated to the UAE for employment, I then moved to Spain to pursue a master’s degree in artificial intelligence for architecture.

I adore being outdoors and I have always had an interest in philosophy and technology.

Due to the war, I had to study architecture for six years in Syria, and to take advantage of the passing time I joined to a local volunteer teem called Jood and the became a co/founder of Jood association that cares about community development.

I moved to Spain in 2021 to study artificial intelligence for architecture at the University of Catalonia, which helped me to better grasp how the internet and robotics would improve our lives and design. After that I worked for a year in a Spanish architecture firm.

I am very much aware of the impacts a good knowledge, and active lifestyle can have on your health, and I am a strong advocate of this with my friends and family.

I would describe myself as calm natured and level headed (which has proven advantageous in my previous managerial and office-based roles), with a cheerful and enthusiastic attitude.

VOLUNTEERING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Jood volunteering Association

A volunteer team established in the province of Damascus, the Kalamoon region, the city of Deir Attia in 2013.

Introducing video: https://youtu.be/Uy0qCyYO2i8

How the team was created:

Originated in Deir Attia after the beginning of the war, and several works took place... Then the region required a group of volunteers to carry out field activities and help awareness workshops. Then ideas began to flow, and the team began to implement a wide range of initiatives that were taking place for the first time in Deir Attia and perhaps Syria.

Later, the Syrian Business and Institutions Center (SEBC) and the UNHCR inked an official contract for the team’s incubation (Jood). The team started conducting a number of development activities in the Kalamoon area that were aimed at various age groups.

After registering with the government and becoming the first volunteer team capable of working across Syria, Jood volunteering team changed its name to Jood association in 2018.

My role:

During the six years I spent at JOOD, I was a volunteer in some initiatives and in others, I was a team leader of an initiative. We had a new initiative every two weeks, and several of them received widespread recognition. I volunteered with JOOD Team from 2014 to 2020 during the time we upgraded the team to become an association, and I was one of the founders and CO of the association for the first two years of its life.

Famouse Programs and initiative: Steps For Peace, BEIT BYOOT, Mobaderoon (Aflateen and Aflaton), NSJ, Architecture Uni Exam course, and numerous others.

Our collaborations: Jood Association works closely with numerous organizations like UNHCR and SARC...

a volunteer team of young syrian students named ‘jood‘, led by architecture academic salmo al-batal, have colorized the longest public staircase in their town, deir atieh. the youthful creative squad took to the streets of their town to paint a vibrantly colored pattern onto the urban steps, creating a three-dimensional arrangement of chroma that brings a spirited atmosphere to the cityscape. the community-driven art intervention has accomplished a permanent painted installation that hopes to pass on merriment and whimsy to local inhabitants, who are currently facing both political and social harship. al-batal says of the motivation behind the project: ‘syria today is the land of blood not colors, so we are trying to make a little difference for love and peace in the war zone’ for more details:

I got acceoted in UNIVERSITAT POLITÉCNICA DE CATALUNYA in Barcelona,Spain to study Masters programme in Artificial Intelligence for Architectural Design.

Why AI for Architecture?

the programme aims to enhance the relationship between Architecture and Computing within the methodological design process by studying Artificial Intelligence and its algorithms. Deep Learning (DL), Machine Learning (ML), Multi-Agent System Design (MASD), Person Centered Environmental Intelligence (AAL), Evolutionary Computing (EC), Shape Grammar (SG) and Linear and Logistic Regression (LR) are becoming part of architectural design from the nano scale to the territorial scale, in the data analysis process of Data Mining, in the theoretical discourse, and in the language consolidation process.

Aims:

- Obtaining general knowledge about the discipline of Artificial Intelligence as a whole, and being able to understand its main objectives, contents and the research of current interest in society.

- Developing mathematical and computational skills to be able to apply them throughout the practice in the algorithmic processes that will be studied.

Graduation project 2019/2020 University of Kalamoon

LOCATION: Syria/ Kalamoon City

The main goal of the project is to find an architectural space for the musical culture, Hence the process of research and formation of the idea, where there are two important, Factors to start the design process, the first factor is the sociocultural factor where all Users must be satisfied in terms of form and thought, and the second factor structural and executive so that the building is in line with the current and future times.

WHY?

The building is a social building type that can be considered one of the best that expresses in its design the character of the region and the culture that exists in the region,

The building can be the most effective attraction in the city, in essence, it reflects the social status of the culture prevailing in the region.

Concept.

The design is inspired by the climatic nature first, and the heritage and historical nature in the region, where the Arab and Islamic character predominates, then the Roman character, taking into account the nature of conditions, the nature of the local community and the prevailing culture.

This symmetry resulted in structural simplification and clarity in projections and formation. In the trends of postmodern architecture, the architects returned again to follow the principle of symmetry, through their return to the heritage with its ideas and formations based on symmetry.

T he octagonal shape to express the projection because it serves the main purpose of the building and expresses the surrounding culture and its full symmetry and ease of addition to it.

The materials could be from the environment to give the building the sustainable and environmental thame, one of the materials is the leather to cover the main hall .

KALAMOON CITY

Location and environment.

T he proposed land is located in a virtual city that is currently being studied to form the fourteenth governorate in Syria, located in the northern direction of the Syrian capital (Damascus) on the international highway connecting Damascus-Aleppo, The proposed land is located in the Mediterranean region or by what is called the province of Kalamoon, where Syrian is divided into seven geographical regions (greater Damascus region - Beddia regionNorthern Region - Mediterranean region - southern region - coastal region-eastern region).

T he region is located on the north-south axis of Syria, which is characterized by concentration and population growth according to the national framework map of urban growth trends, and highlights the importance of its location as a border region of Syria with Lebanon.

T he Mediterranean region contain four major cities (Qara – Deir Atiyah – Al-Nabk – Yabroud) and small dependent cities.

Syria and The Kalamoon Region

Kalamoon city is a proposal for future urban planning governorate in Syria/ Medium section/ Southren area .

It’s urban mareger of four main cities : (ALnabk- Qara- Yabroud- Dayr’Atiyah)

WHY?

1- Because of an urban link in some areas and an unstudied expansion

2- The area have alot of Economic fundamentals (near- to the Syrian-Lebanese) border closest road to Lebanon.

3- Have alot of mystical fortunes.

The terrain in the land is mixed, it has a harsh terrain, slope angle of more than 20 degrees and maountain, and flat terrain with a slope of 2 degrees.

Where the Kalamoon region is considered a hot summer and a cold, dry winter because of its surroundings with mountains on which snow remains for 8 months throughout the year.

The favorable wind is southwesterly coming in winter and the unpopular northeasterly wind coming in summer, and it must be taken into account in the design process.

The land contains a tectonic fault that was taken into account when planning with the study of the nature of the soil and the existing gravel.

There are groundwater, dams and natural watercourses that have been studied to use them properly.

Four major cities will be the cornerstones of town planning, with smaller satellite towns being transformed into districts in the new city.

The high-voltage power line also affects the shape of the city.

Impacts on the Surrounding area:

1- Economic effects on the country and cities

2- The effects on the main cities and the culture of the cities

3- How would the city deal with the differences in the social culture and how the social situation can affect on it, how the differences in life style would change.

kristaller Theory:

The theory follows the geography of services ,concerned with the service importance of the city center for urban studies within the city.

It represented in studying the relationship between the distribution of urban centers and the number of their jobs and size, and in particular their relative location and size.

The theory based on the principle of optimality or automatic idealism in the distribution of urban centers. which will take semigeometric shapes, as polygonal shapes are considered the best form tor the center

The Centers: On the basis of the pyramid principle, centers were distributed in the city.

- Main center contain Administrative and main departments.

- Second-class centers contain the commercial and administrative for the sectors

- Theerd-class centers contain services buildings for the sector.

Az,zamarany road:

The Kalamoon region is located far from the influence of other regions, which supports the idea of networking between the existing cities to form a city between them The proximity of the borders of Lebanon to the west of the region helps to strengthen commercial activity by establishing commercial and exchange relations by establishing an international highway linking Syria and Lebanon through the Al-Zamrani crossing.

45 km road length.

The city services were studied after dividing them into sectors and according to the Syrian references and standards for architectural planning. The distribution of zones has been carried out after several studies, the most important of which is the size of the supply radius and the density of the population.

The Centers:

On the basis of the pyramid principle, centers were distributed in the city.

-Main centers contain Administrative and main departments of the city.

- Second-class centres contain the commercial and administrative departments of the sector

- Third-class centers contain service buildings for the sector.

The Main Center:

In the middle of the road network and close to the international road to Lebanon. The topography of the area is suitable for the events it contains.

Taking advantage of the high tension line to distribute the service centres of the center into two western and eastern segments.
