BETHEL HEIGHTS VINEYARD + RETREAT
FOURTH-YEAR STUDIO
SPRING 2022
with Julia Leftwich (ARCH) + Leah Huck (IND. DESIGN)
Nestled into the rolling landscape of the Willamette Valley, Bethel Heights Vineyard stands as a pillar of the fine wine industry. Bethel Heights Retreat provides an elevated and intimate guest experience without expanding wine production. The addition of a Family Gallery serves to connect guests to the family and vineyard’s history and roots in the land. Cellar Club members can extend their visit by staying in a suite with access to exclusive spaces such as a private tasting room, kitchen, and garden. There, members can enjoy private wine tastings, cooking classes, and gardening lessons. The central Garden contrasts the surrounding vineyards and acts to honor Bethel Heights’ respect for the natural landscape.

LABYRINTH IN THE PARK
THIRD-YEAR STUDIO
SPRING 2021

The concepts of plaid and poche play out in the two systems of a pavilion in a park, on the beach, in Barcelona. The planter roof system is comprised of walls and vaults with dimensions based on a rigid, organized tartan grid. The juxtaposing labyrinth system is made of serpentine brick walls that wind through and break the grid to create poche and spaces of rest. Historic trees frame the site while orange trees punctuate the twisting paths.

STORYSCAPE
THIRD-YEAR STUDIO
FALL 2020
The duality of ‘story’ as a narrative and as building levels informs the spatial arrangement of entertainment, restaurant, and educational spaces in this mixed-use project. The name Storyscape results from the interaction of these programs with the physical landscape. One of the fundamental concepts of the project is the green circuit formed of the back vegetable garden and vertical farming on the facade which connect to the kitchens of the restaurants. Containing two farm-to-table restaurants, several storytelling venues, and spaces for community engagement, there is as much emphasis on social sustainability as environmental.
Story /stôrē/
noun
1. an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment
2. a part of a building comprising all the rooms that are on the same level

PONCE
A satellite location on the BeltLine featuring a splitlevel park. The lower level offers shade and seclusion as a tranquil space to eat and rest. The upper level is contrastingly open, and its adjacency to the BeltLine makes it an ideal space to walk, play, and observe.

CABARET CONTEMPORAIN
SECOND-YEAR STUDIO
SPRING 2020
“Come hear the music play...life is a cabaret”
from Cabaret
Freedom of expression and the opportunity for the exchange of ideas inside the cabaret began in France but today can be found all over the world. While the aesthetic and the performances inside of the cabaret vary across time and many places, this main principle remains intact for the creatives and performers of the present and future.
From Guillaume Apollinaire to Edith Piaf to Louis Armstrong and now you, the cabaret in its modern sense is truly for everyone.
At Cabaret Contemporain, the drama and intimacy of the French cabaret is adapted for the modern age at three different scales of performance: the dinner theatre, the jazz band stage, and the poetry corner.

SENSORIA
FOURTH-YEAR STUDIO
SPRING 2022
with Mary Hays
SENSORIA : The Seat of Sensation
We experience the world through our combination of senses, and since our individual cocktail of sensation is different for each person, everyone sees, hears, speaks, touches, tastes, and smells the world uniquely. The purpose of our collection of sensoria, or our “sensory library,” is to highlight the differences in our sensations and show how individual senses can be combined to create something stronger, such as connection or emotion.
The library collection is strongly inspired by the project’s root in material explorations. The primary materials that were experimented with were plaster, concrete, and burlap and express themselves in various ways in the scale model. In introducing a sensory library to Harvard’s campus, Sensoria brings a unique experience to Cambridge

ARCHITECT’S HOLIDAY BOOKSHELF & MUG
RABUN ARCHITECTS
WINTER 2024
This 2024 holiday card and mug design were inspired by the firm’s desire to publish a book in 2025 celebrating its 50-year history. Each book represents a Rabun project and includes the project’s original name, the year of its completion, and the iteration of the firm’s name that it was designed by. The firm’s 12 most iconic projects received unique illustrated book spine designs and were placed on a mug which served as the holiday gift that year. For each detailed book, the building’s architectural style and design motifs were taken into consideration as well as the time period it was constructed in.
