What is the significance of Microsoft Azure? Azure, like other cloud service providers, allows for on-demand provisioning of computing resources. When compared to the time-consuming task of planning and constructing an on-site data center, as well as the associated hardware upgrades, maintenance costs, server cooling requirements, electricity costs, and use of floor space–especially for offices with associated real estate costs–the savings can quickly add up. The combination of Azure with Office 365 can substantially simplify the process of administering specific technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, and SharePoint. This allows IT workers to focus on new projects rather than routine system maintenance. Microsoft is recruiting businesses to migrate their AI compute operations to Azure. At Microsoft's Build 2019 developer conference, Project Brainwave–an FPGA-based deep learning system designed for real-time AI–was launched as a preview to Azure. According to ZDNet, Microsoft also added features to Azure Machine Learning Service to help developers use "a no-code approach to model creation and deployment using a new visual machine-learning interface," as well as Cognitive Services algorithms to generate insights from structured or unstructured content. Azure Blockchain Service, a blockchain-as-a-service capability that helps developers to construct, manage, and govern consortium blockchain networks, is reinforcing Microsoft's previously stated plans to bring blockchain products to Azure. A public preview of Azure Blockchain Service was published.
