Art as Life In art as life, nothing ever really happens by chance. History is replete with myriad examples, and the field of arts is also strewn with fascinating stories of artists and the great art movements in the world that have changed lives and altered the course of civilization. However, we often hear that all is only written in the stars. Destiny may play strange tricks on us but the element of choice cannot be overlooked. The life path of individuals is marked out at birth, but between birth and old age, a lot of factors come into play. In our life, we are art.

We see and we create in all aspects of our waking days. Our life and vision are always made up with the choices that we make.

As part of the Generation Z, one of my many observations towards my fellow youth is their reliance on social media as the forefront of themselves.

“Who are you, really?

Know yourself.”

Parallel Identities The existence of these virtual worlds allows the people to depict their desired identities for themselves, which eventually causes confusion and false sense of accomplishments apart from the priorities in real life. In this photography set, I want to show the fine line between one’s real self and realities without an audience, versus one’s virtual self or the positive side that they show to the internet.

The Personal Struggle

At dusk, I quietly collect the pieces of myself that have seemingly fallen off its place, for my empathic heart is a home with a romance that is never magical, but is a caress to quietness and depth. At dawn, I will reach for what is out of reach and give away to those who run away without respite or relief. But in between the dusk and the dawn, I will keep on playing with the knives, so I could wait for the wounds to heal, and write romantically about the pain it inflicts. This is a depiction of my surviving wholeness and positive fraught from sadism.

I believe we find light in the speckles of pain from what is breaking or has broken us. This infliction then turns into a language of sunlight— inclined to speak to the furor of passion and darkness that pulls us onto the despair side of idealism.
