This blog discusses about “The History and use of the 12 Principles of Animation”. Which first appeared in their book The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation in 1981. It includes the different techniques used and applied by animators of Walt Disney, an American multinational mass media and a major entertainment major.
Disney animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston created the 12 tenets of animation in the 1930s. These criteria were developed in order to provide animators with a set of standards to adhere to when producing plausible and aesthetically pleasing animations. Many people consider the ideas to be essential methods on which modern animation is built.
In 1907, the French artist Émile Cohl started his filmmaking career with Japon de faintasie, with imaginative use of stop motion techniques. His next short can be regarded as the first animated film using what came to be known as traditional animation methods: the 1908 Fantasmagorie.
Thomas and Ollie Johnston Created the 12 tenets of animation. These served as a criterion for animation who developed and makes animation to pass a certain stan

Exaggeration - animated motions that strive for a perfect imitation of reality that can look static and dull
Anticipation - makes the action more realistic and prepares the audience for action.
Arc - implies greater realism such as limb and joint movement except for mechanical movements.
Appeal - refers to the charism of the actor or character.
Squash and stretch - gives a sense of weight and flexibility
Follow through and overlapping act - makes a render of movement more realistic
7. Timing - refers to the number of frames translating s into the speed of the frames in the film.
8. Staging - to direct the audience’s attention and deliver the importance of the scene
9. Straight-ahead action and poseto-pose - a drawing technique that can be either frame by frame from beginning to end or key frames making then filling in the intervals for later
10. Slow in and slow out - mimicking the movements of objects in the real world
11. Secondary action - gives more life to a scene or helps the main action
12. Solid drawing - take into account the three dimensions space, volume, and weight

In the preceding years, anime has fallen off and creators tried to revive this which lead to the creation of Neon Genesis Evangelion which helped raise awareness of anime in the international business.
Japanese animation is now internationally recognized and praised, a lot of genres have also appeared, and styles of anime have greatly developed. Spirited Away a Studio Ghibli production won numerous awards and become ONE OF the topgrossing anime films of the year.

American Animation contained Bright and colorful themes and saturation, and they tend to show a display of weapons and technological accessories than Japanese anime. Lastly, most of the anime showed very few emotional displays in a psychological manner.
Japanese Anime contained grey and greens most of the time giving it a darker theme, it is also noticed that they tend to focus solely on the physical strength of the character than weapons and such. Finally, is when depicting psychological related aspects, it was observed that Japanese Anime emphasize a lot on the character’s mind.
