The Realm of White Gold Fashion Jewelry Overview We need jewellery for almost every occasion. Jewelry is an accessory that can make any outfit you wear look good. It is also a way for people to express their individual style. In some cultures, certain kinds of jewellery have special relevance and meaning. Gold jewelry has been a part of almost every culture since the beginning of human civilization. There are different categories of gold jewellery available in the market for the users to take their pick from. White gold has the look of platinum but the strength of yellow gold. It is more affordable compared to other metals while retaining the luster of gold. White gold jewelry is available in a number of settings to be used in every kind of jewellery from wedding rings to necklaces and more.

Composition White gold is mixture of a number of metals even though it consists of a yellow gold base. There are various manufacturers who produce different compositions. Majority of white gold jewellery is composed with the use of palladium, manganese, nickel and platinum. Some manufacturers also plate white gold with rhodium to give it the look of platinum. Rhodium adds the desired shine and luster to give white gold a finished look because without the rhodium coating, most of the jewellery made of white gold appears to be of a dull gray color.

Purity Like yellow gold, karats determine the purity of white gold. Because white gold is always composed of various metal alloys, it is never completely pure gold. Jewelry designed for everyday wear is typically fashioned from 14karat white gold. It is hard enough to stand up to daily nicks and bumps without losing its shape. Tenkarat white gold is the lowest white gold alloy advertised as “gold” in the United States. Products with a lower karat composition are not gold products, as per the true definition.

White Gold Allergies Many bracelets use nickel as an alloy in making many gold products. However, nickel is a reactive metal and some consumers may develop skin allergies or rashes while wearing nickelplated jewellery. Many jewellery manufacturers try to avoid the use of nickel in their jewellery because most people experience nickel related allergies. Some nickel jewellery even contains a warning label to alert the user about the use of nickel in the particular jewellery.
