INTRODUCTION

An enthusiastic and ever-curious Architect. Proven ability to conceptualize, design and develop innovative architectural solutions that are socially, economically and environmentally responsible. Adept at collaborating with team members and clients to achieve project goals and maintain effective communication throughout the design process. I am interested in learning and integrating various vernacular techniques in my designs and exploring the influence that designs have on their surroundings and the psychology of the users. I am also passionate about exploring numerous materials and their interaction with one another. I am also in the process of self-learning sculpting using materials like stone, wood, clay, bamboo, et cetera.

Kath-Kuni Workshop

This project was proposed and designed with the vision to revive the richness and to showcase the hidden heritage by providing a platform for promotion, propagation and exposure to the diminishing art and craft forms like sculpting and jewellery making in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.

KATH-KUNI WORKSHOP

This workshop focused on the distinct style of wood carving in Naggar, a serene town in the banks of Beas. We were familarized with indigenous building system known as ‘kath-kuni’ via lectures, site visits and detailed documentation of houses in the village of Naggar. Upon learning about the building technique, we were exposed to wood working and learnt about various joineries used in kath-kuni by carving them out. Kath kuni is not just an architectural method of building houses but a way of life and living, calling for the involvement of multiple factors. From villagers to the animals, the forests that surround them to the weather of the area and the slope on which the village rests. A tradition involving and engaging the involvement of most of the residents of a particular village, knitting these social bonds tighter.

A renovation project where ‘Jalli’ walls were to be installed onto the facade of an existing building and to be converted into the campus’ club house for recreational activities at the HLL Campus in Trivandrum, Kerala.
