Page 1

Welcome to the 8th Annual Twin Bridge Farms –Twin View Livestock and Guest Bull Sale. With a strong beef market again this year, it is important to breed the best possible product.Top quality cattle will always bring you a premium at the market. Pounds of beef gained will always improve your profit margin. The best way to attain those extra pounds of beef is by adding the Gelbvieh infleunce and building a solid foundation in your cowherd. Twin Bridge Farms and Twin View Livestock have established themselves as top breeding programs to add powerful seedstock genetics from. The bulls in their lineup this year reflect the new performance sires that they have included to continue to improve. They had another terrific year showing with championship awards and high selling females at the Gelbvieh events. Sons of the National Champion Bull and similar pedigreed bulls headline this already powerful set of bulls that will be warranting your attention. It is no accident that cattlemen are paying attention to their successes. The drive to Brooks will be well worth your time and investment. The guest consignor is Keriness Cattle Company, Airdrie, AB . Look for exciting young herd sire prospects from this well established breeding program. Joe and Kert look forward to discussing their sale offering with you. The bulls from these herds are stout, thick, good haired prospects that will add calving ease, performance and maternal traits in your cowherd. The winter has been mild in most regions to date helping cattlemen overcome a shortage of feed from this past summer. If you have any questions about the cattle please contact the consignors or myself. If you are interested in purchasing next herd sires on March 11th, but are unable to be with us on sale day, please contact me on my sale day phone 403.803.4434. Yours truly, Don Savage

Well to say it was a trying year would be an understatement. Mother nature put a lot of us farmers and ranchers to the test. The year started off very cold and with more snow than we have had is several years, come spring we had floods, summer faced us with another year of drought and a damp fall; presenting a challenge for getting crops off. With the bad came good, Aaron and Joe no doubt doing very well in Saskatchewan, Ross got engaged to his now fiancé Amy and has spent the winter in New Zealand with her, Gail graduated from Lakeland College with an Agribusiness diploma and spent the summer in Goodsoil, SK at Jesse’s family farm and Owen excelling and loving every bit of his new job, apprenticing to become a heavy-duty crane operator. Ron and Carol were able to sneak away from the farm a few times to visit family and friends. We have brought together a package of bulls that we are proud of. We know our bulls are on a feeding program that’ll satisfy and benefit our buyers. We believe our bulls will go into the sale ring very honest and go out to your pastures and get the job done. From weaning until they head to Brooks these calves have been fed in a large paddock, where they get exercise and know how to travel. We believe this is a very important aspect of our program as many of our commercial buyers require their bulls to put miles on year after year. Our entire herd is on the BovaSheild Gold Program and all our sale bulls will have their Foot Rot Vaccinations prior to sale day! For an inquiry or viewing of the bulls before sale day please contact Gail or Ron! We look forward to seeing everyone and hope that 2019 brings better luck! Once again, we want to thank our previous buyers throughout the years and those that have shown an interest in both our program and the gelbvieh breed as a whole. Also a big Thank You to Aaron & Joe, the Ness Family and Don & Diane Savage. Year after year they go to great lengths to not only bring quality bulls come sale day, but all the behind the scene work that goes into putting on a bull sale!

Dawson was purchased from Foursquare Gelbvieh in 2017 when we were in search of a bull to inject some maternal power into our breeding program. He is an ET son of the Secret Password female that was a donor dam for Judd Ranch in Kansas before Foursquare purchased her for their own embryo program. He is then backed by one of the breed’s elite sires, Yukon. We have always appreciated the Yukon sired cattle so were excited to get his influence. You can look to the Dawson sired bulls to improve eye appeal, volume structural correctness and above all else to make incredible females.

SA BIRCH’S BERYL 74W Maternal Sister to Dam of Lot 1

Lot 1 We lost this guys mom a week after calving. We were excited about the cow she was going to turn into but that’s the cattle business. Against all odds this calf has made it to the top of our bull pen. His length, muscle pattern and the smoothness in through his shoulders and neck has to be appreciated. He’s one of the first DAWSON calves and he did not disappoint. DAWSON has been stamping all his calves the same and we have no doubt that his offspring will do the same.

Lot 2 This dark red bull calf has been stamped by his mother. She’s a young cow in our herd that is developing into one of our top cows. She’s a daughter of VV YOICKS, saying that we find his daughters to be very well milking with sound bags and crazy performance. We hold our Yoicks daughters very close in high esteem. As we don’t give these genetics up on the female side often, buying performance bull calves out of these females is one way to get your hands on some of their progeny.

She was the beginning of another influential cow family in our herd. Aaron and Joe flushed ROSEMARY 63Y in 2017 and have a maternal sister to DURAMAX 72F in their replacement pen. This calf is really starting to mature and come into his own now and is going to do nothing but get better leading up to sale day. Maternal brothers have sold to Hawkeye Ranches and Lauren Spreeman.

With being our only black calf that we have to offer this year, we definitely aren’t disappointed for this calf to represent our black herd here at Twin Bridge Farms. The Truffle cow was purchased from V&V Farms at Agribition, which was the first black female that Ron bought, so you know she’s a good one for Ron to buy something black. All three of her calves have made their place either in our replacement pen or in our bull sale with her first son selling to the Bertschy family. This is a female that produces year after year and we have no doubts that her son will do the same in your program.

Those past sons went to work for Roy Lucas, Machaecek Farms and Roger MacCallum. Crosby on the sire side, another bull that has definitely earned his keep here at Twin Bridge.

Now this was a set of calves that we were excited about. A pair of ET brothers that are full siblings to our National Champion cow SA BIRCHS GAYLE 48Z, who has been admired by many. The longevity in this cow family is undeniably a cattleman’s dream. With dam GAYLE 32N a full blood cow producing until the age of fifteen, daughter of hers still going strong at age twelve GAYLE 91T, and GAYLE 48Z looks to be going in the same direction. These females have such sound udders and feet that we haven’t had a problem once in all fifteen years of production. Saying this we are keeping a full brother to these bulls as a herd sire, knowing that we will get daughters out of this pairing that will top our replacement pen. The sire of these two DRJ FULL EXPOSURE 013N is a very well known bull in the Gelbvieh breed, his name alone says it all. This bull being used by many breeders, in both Canada and the United States.

Ron strongly believes that REVOLT is one the most naturally thick and all around powerful calves that we have ever raised. He carries muscle from his hind quarters right through his top line. The cow family is a very functional cow, nice bag, good feet. That type of female is the back bone to any good herd. They may not go out and win banners but they produce quality calves year after year with no hassle.

Welcome to the 2019 edition of our bull sale! We are so thankful for the ongoing support of our loyal customers as well as the recent interest in our program. We are tremendously passionate about working to raise the highest quality Gelbvieh cattle in the country and we take this work very seriously everyday. 2018 was an incredible year for us here at Twin View Livestock. Like so many of you, we were in a severe drought which meant our mother cows had to work harder than ever to produce the pounds we expect. They certainly did not disappoint! We were very proud to host the Man/Sk Gelbvieh Field Day in August when we welcomed 124 people to tour the cowherd and join us for a weekend of hospitality. Thank you to all who were able to be here! The fall show season was one we will never forget. We are so proud to have had the Canadian National Champion Bull and Reserve National Champion Female in our string. These were truly dreams come true for us however, we want to be very clear that we do not raise show cattle. Although we have enjoyed great success in the show ring and certainly appreciate the acceptance of our cattle in that environment, we believe in taking our hard working, production oriented cattle into that environment rather than taking show cattle and trying to make them productive. We do not allow show results to influence the direction of our breeding program. We have utilized the same feeding program as we have in past years. We provide the bulls a pelleted, low starch ration at 1.5% of bodyweight in addition to high quality hay. We believe bulls need to be athletic, fit and ready to work. They have a large run and are always out moving. The important thing for you is to know we will not sell a bull we would not use in our own program. For your piece of mind, we have parent verified every bull in our offering so you know you’re getting exactly what you see. We encourage you to buy with confidence. As always, we welcome you to Twin View any time you would like to view the bulls. We encourage you to come see their mothers in person. We believe seeing your herd bull’s mother is a key piece to selection. We will be hosting an open house February 23 and 24 including supper and hospitality on the 23rd. Join us! You can also go to www. twinviewivestock.com to see videos of the bulls and follow us on Facebook for regular updates. We hope to discuss your bull needs soon!

Our excitement in this breed leading sire began three years ago the moment he was born. We knew early on he was special and our beliefs were soon reaffirmed when he was crowned Reserve National Champion as a calf. 1/2 interest and possession were purchased by our great friends at Last Mountain Livestock. As time went on, The Boxer caused even greater excitement for us. He bred tremendously well, held his condition and went back out on the show road to again be selected Reserve Champion Bull at Agribition. His greatest successes were yet come. His first calf crop exceeded our wildest dreams! Bulls and heifers alike are elite from an early age. We were so thrilled to have him back as the anchor to our 2018 show team. He began as Champion Bull in Brandon and then National Champion Bull at Agribition. His daughters swept the Senior Calf division at Agribition and his son was also Senior Calf Champion. The Boxer has truly been a dream come true, an individual whose impact is just beginning! We are so proud to offer his first sons for sale here and have no doubt they will further build excitement in THE BOXER!

Twin View Mayweather is one of the most unique breeding pieces we have created thus far. Many will remember his beautiful black dam from our show string several years ago as a moderate, perfectly uddered and sound footed female with a stunning heifer calf at side. That calf sold to CranviewGelbvieh of North Dakota and maternal brothers have sold to JSJ Livestock and Nolan Pharis. Mayweather and his flushmate sister caused quite a stir at Agribition where they were selected Senior Bull Calf Champion and Senior Heifer Calf Champion respectively. That sister was then selected in the National Sale as the high selling purebred female to the awesome people at Goodview Gelbvieh. Mayweather was also Bull Calf Champion at Brandon AgEx and during each appraisal, he was commended as being perfectly sound with correct angularity to his hind leg. Mayweather is massively topped, thick quartered and offers a sweeping rib with substantial volume. From the front, he is so tidy through his neck and chest with an ideal skull design and attractive neck carriage. For us, he is the next step in the legacy of The Boxer and we would like to remain a part of his bright future. We will retain 50% semen interest and would be willing to continue his show career should the new owner choose. We would be happy to visit with you personally about those details. Mayweather will be one of the great ones to sell this spring and we are so proud he carries the Twin View name. Diluter Free.

Twin View Foreman, or George as we call him, is the only black son of The Boxer and is one cool fella! He was part of our Medicine Hat Pen Show class winning group and has as gentle a disposition as you’ll find. You’ll also be hard pressed to find a bull with as much length of spine, width over his top and hair. At this age, he is perhaps the bull that most reminds us of The Boxer being slightly larger framed and extremely stylish. The Grace cow family is quickly building a reputation for great ones. Both his dam and granddam are Dams of Merit in the breed. A maternal brother to Foreman is working for Matthew Jacobsen and a maternal sister is the dam of lot 26. This is one of the most talked about bulls in our pen and we know you’ll like him as well!

She is a direct embryo daughter of the great SLC Freedom and one of the breeds true matrons for Maple Grove Gelbvieh, Uptown Girl. A maternal brother sold to Ray Sushelnitski. Sugar Ray, like all Boxer progeny, is very clean in his joint structure and blends seamlessly from end to end. He was born a twin but was raised as a single. Holyfield is a cherry red, long sided son of The Boxer. We love his young dam and have plans to move her into our embryo program soon. His maternal brother is Twin View Crowfoot, one of our high sellers last year to Twin Bridge Farms and a bull we are using in our AI program. This pedigree offers an ideal candidate for a cross breeding program offering performance and a highly maternal pedigree. Holyfield’s sons will be really good but his daughters will be awesome! Like his brothers, Holyfield comes complete a great disposition, lots of hair, ample hip and muscle and is perfectly sound in his structure.

Three years ago, we had three red bulls in the pen who really turned some heads. One was The Boxer, the second was Cold War and Knock Out was the third. Being a son of Rock M Sock M and out of a Yoicks daughter, Knock Out was a 3/4 brother to The Boxer and was to be lot 2 in the sale that year. Unfortunately, a degeneration in one testicle due to an infection kept our vets from passing Knock Out on his breeding evaluation so we decided to keep him as a clean up bull. The nine cows he was exposed to calved within 16 days and the results were outstanding! Unfortunately, we lost Knock Out late that year to an unrelated injury so this is the only calf crop. His dam, now a Dam of Merit, is also the mother of the well-known Bojangles and last year’s high seller, Bad Habit, to Triple S Livestock. These four sons along with his daughters in our replacement pen certainly make us wish he was still around!

Twin View Brass Knuckles 49F was the second bull on our fall show team. He stood beside lot 15 through the fall and held his own being selected Reserve Calf Champion at both Brandon and Agribition. He was also shown at the side of his eight year old dam. This pair was widely admired at our summer Field Day and when the time came to put the show string together, we really questioned our sense while halter breaking an aged cow. Disco 47X exemplifies why we breed Gelbvieh cattle. At nine years of age, she has a perfect, untouched foot and an udder admired by cows half her age. The decision to show her with Brass Knuckles was highly rewarded when they won Brandon AgEx and became the Reserve National Champion Female at Agribition. Not bad for a range cow! She had quietly went about her work years previous and became a Dam of Merit, has a son working for Nolan Pharis, a daughter at Border Ridge Gelbvieh and more retained in our herd. Brass Knuckles patterns much like Knock Out and offers a high performance package with a different twist to his pedigree, a big stout hip and a real herd bull character. You could argue this is the best female maker in the sale. He sells in his entirety and has all the goods to make a great impact on the Gelbvieh breed! Diluter Free.

Lot 22 Twin View Nailed It is a bull we’ve certainly enjoyed watching develop. When cattle went to pasture last spring, he was perhaps our pick of the pen. He matured early and quickly developed a real herd bull character. He offers big time spring of rib and a real softness in his middle third. He’s soggy and loose made and began with a very modest 80 pound birthweight before coming in at 791 pounds on August 31. Unfortunately, we have not been able to successfully parent verify his mother and, as a result, he sells registered as a 3/4 blood. Don’t let this deter you from grabbing hold of a great bull, one you’re sure to appreciate for all he brings to the table!

He provides heifer approved calving ease combined with extremely high performance. His EPD valuation is hard to fault ranking in the top 10% of the breed for calving ease, weaning and yearling weight and total maternal. His two year old dam is a real beauty we are really excited about. It’s always gratifying for us when our young cows compete with the mature females when it comes to pounds of production. Oakley boasts a 900 pound adjusted 205 day weight and was the #1 ranking bull at weaning time and has continued his high performing ways. He ranks in the top 1% of the breed for weaning and yearling EPD values but his greatest attributes may be his overall softness and muscle mass. You’ll be hard pressed to find a bull with as much length of spine as Hard Candy, a trait that is among the most difficult to breed into cattle. We have admired the muscle mass and beef character in Boogyman since he was a calf and were fortunate to add a small semen pack to our breeding plans. Twin View Warfare is an absolute beast! All meat and no potatoes! He posted an actual weaning weight of 865 pounds on August 31 right off mama and continued his incredibly high growth pattern to rank #1 at yearling weight adjusting to 1431 pounds at a year. His mother is a typical Yoicks daughter; a bit larger framed, liver red, and highly productive. You will also notice she is a full sister to the dam of Bojangles, Knock Out and Bad Habit, the Boe cow family rarely misses. Maternal prowess is bred in! Her first son was one of our most exciting a few years ago selling to Lomond Grazing and her only daughter just calved for the first time. If you’re an EPD follower, check out the top 1% ranking in weaning and yearling weights as well as total maternal. Warfare is a slam dunk when it comes to performance and comes with all the bells and whistles being homozygous polled, dark red and exceedingly good! Diluter Free.

Twin View Cold Front is as full of red meat and muscle as we can make one. He was born a twin to another bull but that certainly didn’t slow him down. The cow family behind Cold Front includes a no miss, trouble free, highly productive mother cow, a maternal sister who topped the Wishlist several years ago selling to Bluff Island Stock Farm and another maternal sister was part of our show string two years ago that went undefeated in her division. Maternal brothers are working for the Macdougall Ranch in B.C. and many will remember a mellow yellow rascal we sold last year to Hawkeye Ranches. Cold Front has a massive hip and top and carries his mass deep into his lower third. A pen of steers sired by Cold Front will pay a lot of bills come fall and have your neighbours asking about Gelbvieh!

K E R I N E S S C AT T L E C O M PA N Y Welcome Friends, new and old! The Ness family is excited and proud to be participating again in the Twin Bridge Farms and Twin View Livestock 8th Annual Bull and Female Sale. We appreciate how this sale grows in the strength of bulls offered by each of the programs and ourselves as we strive to meet all customer’s standards, getting better year after year. The last year has brought some changes for us with Joe and Brenda moving to the farm to be more involved in the day to day care of the cattle. This year we are offering 6 bulls to the sale that we feel are a good representation of our program including sons out of our herd sires Cowboy, Emerson, Bobo and I Told U So 85C. We are once again offering 4 heifers directly from our replacement pen that we feel have a lot to offer. If they were not offered here, we would definitely be keeping them for ourselves. Our bulls have been fed free range soy pellets after weaning and hay along with personal bucket feeding of a corn ration. We individually monitor each bull and heifer by hand feeding twice a day. We want to thank Carol for putting on the lunch and congratulate Aaron and Joe for all their success last fall. Thanks and we hope to see you all there.

This bona fide bull just looks the part having muscle, great hind and strong quarters. Looking from the rear his wide top line can be just plain intimidating but he is gentle for anyone and everyone. An easy keeper that has impressive EPD’s of C.E.D., B.W., Milk, Total Maternal & C.E.D in the top 30%. If this was a heifer Brenda wouldn’t allow this one for sale. Even Kert say’s, “Damn good bull, are you sure it’s not mine?”, and he doesn’t even like black. He was part of our showcase at the Bull Congress in Camrose this year.

This is a 75% Gelbvieh, 25% Simmental bull that could work in a lot of different commercial programs to add extra vigour at calving. The word is he’s a medium boned, long, smooth and soft bodied bull. Could be the steal of the sale.

This gold, deep, big nutted bull has full hind quarters and a wide top line. He really impressed Joe Ness mid January with an average weight with bulls mostly 2 months older him. He is a beef machine with high weight gain and high Milk EPD’s. Fist Full of Dollars will be in our show string of 3 bulls in Camrose this year. His maternal sister, KCC Keriness Spice Girl 106A, is now a donor cow for Pearson Livestock. We have bought back a son of hers for our herd.

Another great red bull from a 2nd calver that Keriness showed as a bred. KCC 71F can stand proud and true of a bull portrait with his deep sides and great spring of rib. When he walks he’s smooth shouldered and sly like a cat. With this great eye appeal he too will be appearing at the Bull Congress in Camrose in our show string this year. His Maternal Sister sold at the 2017 GelbviehWishlist – KCC Goldie Hawn 38E. FYI this bulls EPD’s is in the top 30% for Weaning, Yearling, Milk and Total Maternal.

Lot 37 Lot’s of eye appeal on this solid gold, well balanced bull that expresses heavy front, a good top line and a butt that just carries downward for lots of meat. He has a 101 lb Birth weight however his EPD’s show Calving Ease. This could be true as his dam averages 1600 lbs at weaning, making his birth weight only 6.3% of her weight. He’s an easy-going bull, but I would really recommend him on cows.

A great combination of a 1600 lb cow & a heifer bull that has proven himself for many years. This is the longest framed bull by 6” and the tallest of any other bull to sell by us. You can bring him home with no worry of him not being able to breed big mature cows.

JOE DOUBLE DOG DARE YA Maternal Brother to Lot 42

Lot 42 Joe’s not blushing when he sells this small framed, square deep heifer, that has calving ease written all in her EPD’s. Her Dam is consistent with an 85lb birth weight average on 3 calves and has sold her progeny to Barry & Robin Mader Farms and Jen-Ty Gelbvieh. She should grow into a 1400lb cow.
