It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 2025 Tasmanian Angus Autumn Bull Sale where we are thrilled to offer 14 high-quality, carcass-improving bulls which have a continual focus on the needs of the Commercial Cattleman in today's market.

All of the bulls on offer are (PV) Parent Verified, majority have below breed average Birth Weight, (identified as a Heifer Bull throughout our catalogue) and exhibit higher than average RBY - improve the amount of saleable beef produced, ultimately increasing your profitability! Get more value from every carcass.

We have continued to incorporate proven balanced genetics into our herd to ensure consistency and predictability remain core pillars of the Tolivar Angus breeding program. Our goal is to offer only bulls that have the versatility and balance to produce progeny that build the base of the herd.

Quality genetics are a crucial investment in your herd's future. In today’s rapidly changing environment, there has never been a more crucial time to focus on genetics within a breeding program. We pride ourselves on not compromising on phenotype for EBV’s, or EBV’s for phenotype. We deliver both. Whilst it is relatively easy to breed an animal with good EBVs, it is much more challenging to breed an animal that excels in both EBVs and phenotype. Tolivar Angus is located across two properties in Northern Tasmania.

Bulls can be viewed at the Tasmanian Livestock Exchange on sale day from 10 a.m or privately on the farm prior by arrangement.

The sire lines represented in this offering are Millah Murrah Paratrooper, Aryvale Bartel, RL Justice, Black Onyx and a couple of our young sires who are offspring from Pathfinder Genesis, Gar Phoenix and Black Onyx. All of the bulls on offer provide quality genetics, performance and temperament.

GUARANTEE

All bulls have been independently assessed for structural soundness and fertility evaluated. To the best of our knowledge the bulls offered are in sound working order as at the time of sale. If during the next 12 months of purchase the bull is deemed to be infertile or incapable, provided it is not caused by injury or sickness, the vendor agrees to supply the purchaser with a satisfactory replacement, if available, or issue the purchaser with a credit equal to the purchase price minus the salvage value that may be used on the next bull sale. The bull will be assessed by a veterinarian chosen by Tolivar Angus. A claim must be accompanied with a veterinary report.

NUTRITION

All bulls have been grass fed with supplement silage and hay.

CATTLE HEALTH

All bulls offered for sale have passed a BULLCHECK breeding soundness examination (certificate available on request). This assessment was completed by accredited veterinarian Dr Matt Izzo, Apiam Genetic Services.

Tested free of Pestivirus

• Vaccinated according to recommendations with Pestigard, Vibrovax and Ultravac 7 in 1

• Semen tested and morphology assessed by Australian Veterinary Semen Morphology.

• Physical evaluation and examination of the reproductive tract along with structural soundness and general health by Apiam Genetic Services. Have been drenched with Moximax pour on drench.

• All sale bulls have been genomic tested to confirm their genetic ability.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Although all bulls have displayed great temperament and are regularly handled, care must be taken. A change in environment and other pressures can cause a bull to become agitated. We ask that no children under 16 years of age enter pens on sale day.

INSURANCE

There is no Vendor Insurance on Sale bulls. At the completion of the sale the stock purchased becomes the buyer’s responsibility. We highly recommend that you insure your new purchase for 6 months. Please ask Agents for any insurance requirements.

The maternal power of the Tolivar Angus pedigree - good cows breed great bulls.

Tolivar Angus is a family owned and operated business established in 2017 by Colin and Sue Hill. Colin, himself a 4th generation cattleman, had 15 years experience in the dairy industry in the 80’s and 90’s before re-entering into commercial cattle production in the late 90’s.

The herd has been built on a strong maternal foundation with the purchase of the 12 foundation yearling heifers who consisted of bloodlines from Pleasant Vale, Cluden Newry and Te Mania. We continue to increase the rate of genetic gain in our herd through artificial insemination and embryo transplant.

We understand the importance of maternal qualities for Commercial Cattlemen and our selection focus has resulted in females that are fertile, functionally sound and focus on structural soundness for longevity, docility, fertility and calving ease. These are essential qualities for a successful herd. Animals are joined for a restricted 6 week period resulting in short calving periods. Any animal not meeting that criteria is culled. All registered animals are performance recorded with Breedplan.

The Tolivar herd now consists of over 200 registered animals running over two properties, calving 150 registered females. One farm is located at the sleepy seaside township of Lulworth, and the other at Pipers River. Both properties, located in Northern Tasmania, have secure reliable water sources that enable irrigation during the drier months.

The Registered herd is run alongside a commercial herd under the same commercial conditions. The cattle are managed under intensive grazing management which enables each animal’s genetic capability to be tested through growth, weight and immunity. Animals that fall behind are easy to identify as culls.

We are still managing both Autumn and Spring calving however the commercial herd is now entirely spring calving and we have reduced the Autumn Registered herd and increased the Spring Registered herd. All of our cattle are solely pasture fed, as we want an accurate representation of what our bulls will achieve in a natural environment.

BARTEL WAS ONE OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL SIRES IN THE ANGUS BREED. HE HAD THE HIGHEST PROVEN CALVING EASE AND STAND OUT CARCASE SIRE IN COHORT 2 OF THE ANGUS YOUNG SIRE PROGRAM.

LIKE HIS SIRE, Q02, HE HAS A QUIET NATURE WITH SUPERIOR GROWTH FIGURES (200,400 AND 600 TOP 30%), WHICH IS STRONGLY PASSED ON IN HIS OFFSPRING. Tasmanian Junior Beef Expo

Hayden and Matilda participated in the Tasmanian Junior Beef Expo at Deloraine following their first and very successful show season in 2023. They were both encouraged to participate in the TJBE by the committee members to refine their showmanship and learn new skills. Matilda took out 1st place in the Novice Junior Judging and placed 4th in her Handlers class. Hayden received the encouragement award for his Junior Judging class and took out the major award of Champion Herdsman!

Angus Australia Benchmarking Program Cohort 15

We were thrilled to announce in October 2024 that our sire, Tolivar Torin T32, had been selected for the Angus Australia Sire Benchmarking Program into Cohort 15. More than 50 nominations were received, with the sires selected based on their merits in various areas, including genetic diversity, their current and future impact on the Angus seedstock and commercial industry, and their performance for the ASBP cooperator cow herds and commercial supply chain partners. Torin T32 has excellent balance across almost all EBVs, ranking better than average for 19 main

traits including Calving Ease Direct and Dtrs, GL, all Growth and Fertility EBV’s, Carcase Wt, EMA, and RBY. He ranks in the top 20% for ALL Selection Index traits and exhibits impeccable docility.

A Beastmode B074 son out of a very strong maternal ‘Pono’ Dam line. Currently weighing over 1100 kgs. We welcomed his first progeny over the last spring calving period. We are excited to see the data start to be released about this program throughout the year and we may release a limited amount of semen for Autumn 2025.

2024 Show Season

To complete the 2024 Show season, Tolivar competed at the Royal Hobart, Westbury, Scottsdale and Deloraine shows. We took a team of 4 animals down South to Hobart and came away with Champion Angus Junior Bull, Champion Angus Senior Bull and Champion Angus Bull with Tolivar Undercover U16. Hayden also took out the Herdsman award again! For the remaining 3 shows, we competed with a team of 6. Tolivar collected many awards and ribbons however the highlight for our females was at Deloraine where we took out the Champion Angus Heifer with Tolivar Miss Universe U36. Tolivar Sybil S24 with her 3.5 month heifer calf at foot (Tolivar Vanity Fair V99) received the Champion Senior Cow award and this pair also went on to win the Champion Angus female and Champion Interbreed Senior female and Reserve Champion Interbreed Female.

Both show bulls, Tolivar Undercover U16 and Tolivar Unstoppable U50 are on offer in this sale as lot 2 and lot 12 respectively.

So proud of our show team and how they continually presented themselves and the cattle. Growing from 1 Junior Bull and 1 Junior Heifer with x2 handler's in the 2023 show season, to exhibiting x1 Senior Bull, x1 Junior Bull, x1 Senior Cow with calf at foot and x2 Junior Heifers with x5 handlers with Chloe, Amy and Rachelle also joining the team in the 2024 season.

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know fellow competitors and breeders and look forward to the 2025 show season.
