Fashionable in the 1920s, 60s, 80s, Fall 2007

Tableware Cloche A covering for food, preserving atmosphere.

Historically some were made of silver, but can often be found in many other materials. Ceramic cloches can also be used for baking

CLOCHE Battement en Cloche The dancer goes back and forth between front and back, passing through first.

As the leg goes back and forth, it resembles a rocking bell.

Agricultural Cloche A covering to protect plants from cold temperatures. Generally domestic.

Historically made of glass, the most simple being a bell shaped class cover.

Modern cloches are generally plastic

Armoured Cloche Bell-shaped, non-retractable turrets along the Maginot Line, made of alloy steel.
